TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘six word thankfuls’ now why didn’t I think of ….?’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Vintage_mens_magazine03

As our intrepid founderess prepares for her Trip to the New World, it is incumbent on the co-host (and co-hostinae) to step up and say, “Hey! the TToT is a bloghop that attracts the best and the brightest, the rich and the poor, the illiterate and…. (no, wait, that doesn’t work), the crème del crème of the blogosphere. So if you know anyone like that, get them to join up this weekend!”

No. Seriously. It’s like that episode that time on, (well, on every single sitcom since I started watching TV, which would be about 1961. There was always an episode where, (one of), the parental units becomes indisposed and everyone in the family decides to help out and do whatever needs to be done and then when the mother/father/boss/teacher or whoever gets better and returns, they get all, ‘you’re all doing so well without me! I guess I’m not needed anymore!’ … of course this is followed by some predictable misunderstanding that seems to reinforce their conclusion and finally, just before the next to the last commercial, everyone stops being so self-sufficient or maybe (they decide to)  mess up on purpose, all to convince the I’m-not-needed-anymore person that they are loved and whatever. TV has always been a strange place, in fact, the strangest place most of us have spent time in, until, of course, (the) blogosphere appeared!
So, at any rate, this is not about early TV sitcoms. This is much odder. This is about writing a TToT post.

I’ve always wanted to learn to write a simple and direct TToT post. And seeing how I’m enjoying zoe’s Thursday ‘hop  ‘Six Sentence Stories’, well, it’s only natural to think, ‘hey! lets write a TToT Post with each of the Ten Thing (of Thankful) consisting of 6 words! Sure! that’s a great idea!’

1)   Work: it aggravates and it satisfies

2)   (the) BoSR/SBoR: rules for all, not rules at all

3)   Gravity Challenge (blog): sharing goals  is effort made less

4)   Six Sentence Story (blog): six sentences the author’s life disguised

5)   Una: not just a dog, …family member

6)   thoughts on last week: Summer evaporating as the temperatures decrease

7)   (the) SGV (aka the Seven Guard Virgins): guardians of the SBoR/BoSR, all hot!

8)   the Wakefield Doctrine: …way of seeing, way of being

9)  co-hostinae: clarks, scotts rogers from X-Chromeville

10)   SR 1.3:  chapter and verse, end of Post

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    Frist?

  2. valj2750 says:

Tell me that is a bona-fide magazine cover, or rather, tell me it’s not. Did you make it yourself on Pic Monkey? Looking forward to meeting you, Phyllis and Una in OCNJ.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I’d like to believe it is. (no not artificially created) … on the basis of my memory of (those times) (sorta of as I was a child on the early 60s)… I bet it’s real. There is no way to under-estimate the relative immaturity and lack of sophistication of popular media back in those days! (Exhibit A any of the first James Bond movies… we all want to remember them as, somehow, being less puerile than they appear on the Movie Channel these days)
us too! we’ll be local sometime on Friday leaving late morning Sunday look for the hat!

  3. ivywalker says:

    Very Hemingway-esk!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

you know what I like the most about this place (the virtual world, in general, and the ‘sphere in particular?) my reply to your comment:

“In 1954, while in Africa, Hemingway was almost fatally injured in two successive plane crashes. He chartered a sightseeing flight over the Belgian Congo as a Christmas present to Mary. On their way to photograph Murchison Falls from the air, the plane struck an abandoned utility pole and “crash landed in heavy brush”. Hemingway’s injuries included a head wound, while Mary broke two ribs. The next day, attempting to reach medical care in Entebbe, they boarded a second plane that exploded at take-off, with Hemingway suffering burns and another concussion, this one serious enough to cause leaking of cerebral fluid.”

  4. That was intense – required a bit more brain power than I have pre-coffee and in the throes of what is now a worsening late summer cold. But impressive – love the brevity.
Pets surely do become family members, don’t they?

  5. jehdld says:

I love the style of your post.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      thank you.
one of the things I like the best about this here bloghop here is that style is left to the writer, straightforward and clearly expressed lists are good and so are ….less straightforward and maybe a little less clear list. it’s all about spirit and intent, here at the TToT

  6. May says:

    Ah, Una the Ever Faithful!

  7. herheadache says:

A way of seeing.. A way of being. That is a great way to look at it.
    :-)
I am sure you will do well when you step up and take charge of this thing.
Love your short and to-the-point idea for each thankful this week.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

the Doctrine is, indeed, fun and useful
thanks… of course, you realize that there is every likelihood that next week’s post will be something like Ten Things in song and legend’ or something, but that’s why we have the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)

  8. Vinny: not just a dog, but a sketchy, crazy, but VERY loyal family member. He’s like a kid out of “My Big, Fat Greek Wedding.” HAHAH

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

lol hey! good to hear from you last night! fun and informative and everything (as always!)

Looking forward to your new site of the drawing thing (which, I was wondering, can you create one that automatically keeps the color inside the lines? lol)

  9. Vanessa D. says:

Some thoughts on your ‘succinct’ TToT

    1) I know what you mean. Sometimes I dream of winning the lottery but then I wonder how I would fill my days?

    5) I know exactly what you mean, even on those occasions where one of said family members shits on the floor just because he doesn’t want to get his feet wet in the rained on lawn, even though racing through swampy smelling puddles is perfectly acceptable.

    6) as a middle aged woman going through “that” time, I can only wish our temps would finally decrease. I am envious.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

…oh, don’t get me wrong! I would find a way (if I were to win the lottery, which I just did not, a minute ago…man! not even one number, that’s just cruel!)

well, maybe it was raining into his ears…maybe a place outside with, like cover, a shrub or a small tree?

I hate the cold (which begins partially now and will end sometime next June) At least I’ve stopped expressing surprise at the change of seasons

  10. dyannedillon says:

Your lists are a lot more fun when you aren’t trying to be normal.
Summer is far from over here. Come visit!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Why thank you, Dyanne

I believe, with a lot of hard work and practice, I could achieve normalcy, but I’ve spent too much time on the-path-less-careened-down and, I think I might just be getting to the point of getting good at it.

  11. Pat B says:

I love the idea of a abbreviated TToT post in Six Sentence Story fashion. Very creative.

As for the magazine, I do believe that back in the day, magazine covers like the one shown did exist. Many years ago there used to be little stores that only sold magazines, newspapers and comic books.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Thank you, Pat

Amazing how much a culture can change in one or two generations, no? I know! how does one measure development/improved/refinement of the accepted forms of expression at any given point in the life of a culture, especially popular culture! The ‘Men’s Magazines’ stand out, now in retrospect but at the time, were they not just the current expression (or, to use the term we like here at the Wakefield Doctrine, ‘the current manifestation‘) of an aspect of all cultures?

  12. Christine says:

Nice succinct post! And now that you mention it…YES! Every single sitcom had that episode! Even newer sitcoms do!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      thanks

(ties in nicely with the point that Pat is suggesting… well, maybe not suggesting as much as her comment caused me to think that cultures (pick a time, any time, in history) is a reflection of an aspect of the human condition, and not just a style or fad…
      ya know?

  13. afshan18 says:

I dont know what Bosr is but I liked the crisp style of listing the ten things :)
    hav fun

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

the BoSR/SBoR are the (approved) acronyms for ‘the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)

which, in turn, is a really fun (optional) aspect of the TToT… zoe is very adept and has, in fact, written the definitive Post on the BoSR/SBoR

  14. I love the Six Sentence stories, so much can be told in so little space, much like your TToT!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah, of course, now that I’ve done the brief TToT, it’s only right that, next week, I try the Tolstoy TToT

  15. Kristi says:

Very clever writing for the TTOT! (See what I did there?) :-)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Yes (?) I did… but for those of our Readers not as quick and astute as I clearly am… (thank you, no matter what)
