TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s weakly contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Created by our founderess, Miss  L, Quartermaine, in 1903 under harsh conditions in a small village on the only fnord recognized by the Crown. She toiled by firelight to create and publish the first Grat blog. With remarkable prescience, she wrote in the maiden inaugural issue, “Whilst I feel compelled to require of any Readers to compile a list of Gratitudinous Items, it is incumbent upon me to ease the way for future participants, and reduce the eponymous list from fity* to ten. In the future, when Man has harnessed the Power of the Ether, we shall surely up the ante.” L.

For the Doctrine, our list:

1) Una

2) Phyllis

3) the Wakefield Doctrine

4) writing (which is a most fulsome of category of things to be grateful for, as in and of itself, a separate Item might be designated**.) (see Grat 5)

5) the Six Sentence Story and the Unicorn Challenge Both are most excellent prompt-writing bloghops. Be sure to go looking around at each. Hell, why not link up with ’em while you’re there?

6) gotta include the internet, yo. Have you scrolled down to the music vid section yet? No! Not now… well ok, but return here to finish your Read

7) New participant (entrance through the Facebook door, here:  Hey, Hil! ‘ssup?

8) something, something

9) moderate weather… so far

10) Secret Rule 1.3

* true story, sorta. Lizzi did actually start with writing a Fifty Things list. This was before the fame, renown and renovated home on Loch Redundancy

** proposed and provisional Secret Rule; temporary designation 8.9 aka the Rule of Blue Font

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Clark, clark, clark. I shall return for commentary on….cover songs!

    • Spira says:

      Yeah, please do! 😁

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

        As we wait for D

        permit me:

I was around for the original of Fast Car. Liked it then, but the EQ of recollection has added an overtone of something of a folky vibe. The current cover has a certain freshness and, with the country pedigree a cleaner feel.

Weezer v George? No contest. (‘a course there’s inherently the compliment of the fact that he created the song.)

Preferring the Tesla over the Beatles… more difficult distinction to make… probably comes down to production quality subtly improving the drums or something… wait, just re-listened to the Beatles. Nothing but an improvement (by Tesla) in the simplification of a decent song,

  2. And thankfuls. Of course!!

  3. phyllis says:

I especially liked the tie to Lizzie.
    Thank you

  4. messymimi says:

It’s always a pleasure to peruse your list.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah, agree writing them is basically an exercise in the genre of ‘shaggy dog stories/jokes’

  5. Kristi says:

The “Rule of the Blue Font” definitely deserves a place in the book!

  6. she returns….my officemate listens to the radio for about 1/2 hour before I begin DJ duties and the station plays Luke’s version of Fast Car like clockword. I agree, Clark, the cover does have a “fresh” sound, fuller. But. If made to choose, I prefer the original. Time, place, emotional connection.

#2? Cover! Of course. As much as I have a soft spot for for George (Listen w/out Vol.1) Seether gives the song a cool edge, quite pleasing.

Wrapping it up. No contest for me. Cover!
