“newspaper taxis appear on the shore, waiting to take you away’ the Wakefield Doctrine (while the album plays, the Sentence is Finished, this Friday)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

images-27

I was almost going to not participate in Finish The Sentence Friday today.* Nothing bad (for a reason), too much work, the common cold of distractions, the cumulative effects of which (often)  results in a state of creatile dysfunction. But, as has happened since I started writing a blog, I made a Comment at Lizzi‘s Facebook Page that was based on a song, which lead me to listening to the full album on ‘the youtube’ (my physical album long since absorbed by the insulation and rafters of my attic).

I used to love to….

listen to  Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club in its entirety (at one time, sequentially at one time).

Think about how much has changed in our lives. Even something as small as the way we enjoy music. To sit and listen to an entire album…without ‘putting it on pause’… without ‘having to click the next link to the next song’, without ‘having to answer an email’ or even ‘twittering to everyone how much I enjoy ‘Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite’.’  Just listening.

This is not a Post about how wonderful the old days were. This is not a Post about how some things are not as good as they were when we were young(er). This Post is about one of the things I used to love to do…   and I still love to do. (I always end up getting something from writing these Posts). Right now, as I get to the second half of the ‘second side’ of the album, I’m feeling that like while nothing stays the same as we grow older, nothing can take away the pleasures of the past. And, unless I destroy it for myself, by trying to compare today to yesterday, what I used to love  to  can be as enjoyable as it used to be.

“I’ve got nothing to say but it’s ok.  Good Morning, Good Morning”

‘…so where were we?’ the Wakefield Doctrine (yes, all of those celebrities were either clarks or scotts or rogers)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

bladerunner

Back to class.  Pencils down. Close your test booklets. Seeing how this was an ‘open book’ exam, we will go right to a review of the Answers.

clarks:  Matt and Ellen and Megan!

scotts: Brad, Robert

rogers: Ben, Rhianna, Taylor

A quick Doctrine refresher before we review the correct answers.
We all have the potential to grow up and develop in one of three characteristic worldviews.1 These three worldviews are that of: ‘the Outsider’ (clarks), the Predator (scotts) and the Herd Member (rogers). At an early age we all find ourselves with one predominant worldview, however, we never lose the capacity to experience the world as the ‘other two’ worldviews would. Some people, new to the Doctrine complain that they know they are one type, but sometimes they are another. Not to worry. You have one predominant worldview, but you can have a significant secondary (and even a) tertiary aspect. Totally normal, but outside the scope of this explanation.
The Wakefield Doctrine is a tool, that allows us to infer the nature of the reality the other person is experiencing. Do this correctly and you will know more about the other person than they know about themselves. It’s all with the board of Education here at the Wakefield Doctrine. LOL (Learn the characteristics of the three worldviews. Observe the behavior of the people in our lives. Infer how the other person ‘relates themselves to the world around them‘.)

On to it now!  About our celebrities:

  1. scotts? Easy! look at their eyes. Look for the focus, the alertness. As Predators, scotts will hardly ever be caught not paying attention to what is going on around them. It is what they do. They are socially aggressive and they are sociable, but you will sense that it (their interest, their charm, while focused on you isn’t really  …personal.) Temperament?  two words: mercurial.
  2. clarks (also kinda easy) and again, the first thing to look for are the eyes, or to be more concise ‘where are they watching from‘ In the eyes of a clark will always be found 2 things (both or one, depends): fear and distance. Maybe that should be only one quality. a clark, if you pay close attention, is watching from afar. You will know it when you see it. clarks are not socially aggressive, but they are there and they won’t be leaving until they decide to… there is a saying ‘a clark is not comfortable as the center of attention, but will not tolerate being ignored’.
  3. rogers can be tough and sometimes not so much. Consider our Guest Model Ben Affleck. Did you have any doubt at all that he is a roger?  Look at the face, the man is suspecting that there is something that …isn’t quite right going on around him! Now the rogerian women, were much more difficult to identify. (I went and found video interviews to help me decide if they were clarks or rogers). Ms. Swift was difficult. I knew she wasn’t a scott. And I couldn’t sense the distance found in clarks. Finally I looked at her through the lens of the rogerian worldview. There is a sense of competency and deliberateness to her, in interviews and in situations where not everything is choreographed. She knows what she is doing and knows that she knows it. And she appears friendly and enthusiastic and comfortable with people, another characteristic of her people.

Well, that’s all the time we have today. I trust everyone enjoyed this exercise.

(For any of  you feeling discouraged, feeling like you will never get this Doctrine thing, I will say, ‘knock it off!’ If you are reading this, then you have the qualities that are necessary to not only understand the Doctrine, but to use it and have fun with it. Most people don’t. I say this without false modesty or flattery, my presentation of the Wakefield Doctrine is a work in progress. I accept that it will someday be totally simple, the website will be organized and the examples will be plain as the hand on your face. But until then, I’m glad you people are out there. The Readers who enjoy playing with ideas, imagining different realities…you know curious and intellectually confident men and woman? And as soon as they show up, you’re all out of here.)

Music video as my reward for getting this Post done at a reasonable hour.

1)These worldviews/personal realities are real, as in, ‘you know what you see and hear and smell and sense and feel in your world today’. And it doesn’t matter if you are sitting in the back of the class, hoping not to be called on, not because you don’t know the lesson, but because you do know the lesson that the class is learning, it would just ruin your chance to have friends. It doesn’t matter if you are walking through the office, trying to look like you are competent at the job you were hired for, even though you don’t feel like you are doing the job competently, at least whenever your Manager calls you into their office for a little, ‘give and take, review of possible trouble-spots. It does not even mean a thing if you have prayed and deprived yourself and limited your need to get out and break something, you are determined to keep the family that you have, whether they believe you this time or not.  It is real and it is your reality.

‘hey you got your sultry on my country! no, you got your slick 40’s style on my pop!’ the Wakefield Doctrine Mix-that-Tape Numbero Twenny

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Twisted MixTape 20

Jen Kehl

Damn! I was enjoying the March of the Decades. How easy was it to produce a list of 5 (plus or minus) songs that you enjoyed in a 10 year baseline?

The theme this Week is ‘Duets and Duos’  I quote from our lustrous leader:  “Duets or Duos  (Two people who don’t normally sing together singing a song or a musical group that is 2 people, Simon and Garfunkel, Hall and Oates, etc.)”

I will admit to having to go and research duets, famous duets and famous two people singing togetha on all the below  except for:  Lyle & Emmylou  and Eminem & Dido and Dr. John & Rickylee those were already in my collection, just not under any Duet category.  I just have never attempted to categorize the music I enjoy listening to by anything other than: ‘Play anytime’   and ‘Play to create a mood’   (Hey! there’s a theme!  ‘songs that are useful to get her to…..’ sorry  Jen! did not mean to presume, I can see that you have themes lined up for us that will have me banging my head against this here monitor here until the end of the year’)

Special thanks to Kristi for her Post (which I have deliberately avoided reading as she has a way of capturing the clarklike worldview in such incredibly effective ways.  In any event, here are my selections for a mix tape for any occasion. Sort of…  I guess if we had to assign these songs a purpose  then I might say, to romance a clark:  #1 and #3… to romance a roger: #2 and (maybe) #3 …to romance a scott:  lol yeah, right like music is necessary

“…of sideboobs* and celebrities” Wakefield Doctrine (Famous People and their pre-dominant worldviews)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

2741762_Lookbook

Step .5 (Practise Exercise 1 the girl above is: a) a clark 2) a scott 3) a roger

Step .75 identify the celebrity:

Brad-Pitt     ben-affleck-big     megan-fox-6     MV5BMTM0NzYzNDgxMl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDg2MTMyMw@@._V1._SY314_CR10,0,214,314_     The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals   132taylorSwift   robert_downey_jr_92   422415_10150655857522241_642707779_n

I do realize that the first  ‘Practice Exercise’ was a gimme… but time for the real Test!

Here you have 8 celebrities.  Don’t be afraid of the idea that, ‘well they are actors or performers or singers, I can’t know the ‘real person’. The fact is you can…and probably do know.  Remember Rule 33  ‘everyone does everything at one time or another‘ which means:  if you are at the beach and  someone gets in trouble in the water, riptide or something, then how you perceive, react and act to that situation will be different if you are a clark or a scott or a roger. And so with actors and performers, they have roles to play, maybe wildly different roles at different times, but they still perceive the role or the song or the interview from the perspective of:  the Outsider (clarks), the Predator (the scotts) or the Herd Member (the roger).  So go ahead!  take a look at these guys and tell us how you think that each ‘relates themselves to the world around them‘.

(And totally don’t forget, you learn from trying each of the three worldviews and see which seems to fit the best… and,  and!  tell why you think they are the one you pick. We all learn from each other.)

( hey!  an old song, but a good one )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWnBD6n9j74

(You do know that this is an ‘Open Book’ Test, right?  it is recommended that you look for interviews as a method of inferring worldview and such. Good Luck)

OK!!!  last 15 minutes!!!  …here’s a little in the way of guidance-by-example   Ben Affleck…. looking a touch judgmental?   Robert Downey and Brad… watch the eyes…speaking of eyes   Ellen, Ellen, Ellen those are camera lights not headlights!

*  the sideboob thing?  go ask Considerer  or Jak  or Dyanne**

** yeah, I thought that too!

Hey Facebook!  the hell with you and your maximizing investor returns by enhancing ad revenue… Jen shouldn’t have to start a new damn FB page

10 Items comprising the 10th List of the TToT the Wakefield Doctrine (it’s the weekend, a time to relax and self-energize yourself)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

1331913969-solarisphoto

We are satisfied to report that we are engaging in the Tenth Week of the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop.

While I can honestly say that, for the occasion of the 10th of the 10, I would love to write a simple and direct (and ‘normal’) List of Ten Things of Thankful, I cannot. I say ‘cannot’ with an odd mix of pride and regret. I am proud of myself for having the, whatever the quality of willingness to own up to a lack of ability/skill is called, and at the same time, wish it were not so.

Alright. Enough of the apologizing for my lack of skill and ability to express myself in writing.

  1. I am grateful for the privilege of calling myself a co-host to this here bloghop here
  2. I am primarily grateful to Considerer for having the inspiration, or the drive or the genius or the luck to create this fairly unique form of a common blog type
  3. I am secondarily grateful to Christine for being the person she is and the good friend of Lizzi. I’ve told the story before, how, after my showing up at Considerings (out of ‘nowhere’, quite un-invited) and began to write Comments, Christine showed up at the Wakefield Doctrine to introduce herself and….get to know who these Doctrine people were… lol. I liked from the first Comment.
  4. I am grateful that there is a reasonable chance that I am allowed this much ‘skating’ on the List format. I would love to write a list of things that made me happy this week past, except I don’t seem to be able to remember anything
  5. I am grateful for Lizzi’s support and encouragement for messin with the format of the TToT
  6. I am grateful for my own comfort with the idea that it’s ok not to write a good list, or a proper list or even, a coherent list  here on Saturday at the TToT
  7. I’m grateful for everyone who participates, from the solid well written Posts (pretty much everyone but this one…and maybe Jak1…and  Kristi2  and Considerer3  )
  8. I am grateful for Phyllis and Una
  9.  I should be grateful for the real life circumstances I am in, which I am, but I suspect I am…complicating things in a way that makes feeling simple gratitude… more challenging than it need be (lol  ya think?)
  10. cha ching!  made it to Number 10 of Number 10 of the 10 T’s of T (fulness)!

Today being Saturday, I’ll be off to the work world. Will check back in throughout the course of the day.

Tips for new Participants and/or Readers:  Freedom Hall here. We are grateful for your Posts and for your Comments. One of the (many) things that is different about this bloghop is that we are open all weekend. We are active all weekend. What you are reading right now?  check back later in the day (tonight…tomorrow!)  Some will Post a second time on Sunday but all of us will leave comments throughout the weekend.  and….and!   Jump right in!  if you see someone saying something in a comment thread and, if you’re like me,  you get all “what?!?!  she did not just say that!!”  go ahead   jump right into the Comment thread!  Thats why God invented nested Replies.

I will leave a music video that has been playing in my head since I got up… old, old band  mostly dead people by now, I would think.

See you later in the weekend.

Ten Things of Thankful
 Your hosts

1)  lol  I kid Jak… boy got skills, and not afraid express himself on whatever level he chooses to, something that I admire

2)  Kristi is who I want to grow up (as a writer) to be..

3) good Friend,  DownSpring of no small potential… she combines skill with inventiveness, what more could you want?
