Ten Things of Thankful II the Wakefield Doctrine (“…there is a way to see that lets in more light.”)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

DSC05681

This is the Second of the ’10 Things of Thankful’ blog hop series.

Still getting comfortable here in my new Saturday morning digs. I like the hop thing, despite (and possible because),  I still wait until the very last minute to start writing. No doubt a common experience, but I am new enough to this writing gig to have those moments of “a whole Post? now?!” (Equally amazing/amusing is coming back and reading an old Post and reacting with “did I really write that?!” when returning to an old Post.)

In any event, here we are at the Wakefield Doctrine (as a co-host, no less!!) finding the words that best express what this theme would have me… express.

Given that most of us will agree that Gratitude and/or thankfulness is, for the most part, in the realm of emotion, the challenge for me personally is that, being of the personality type referred to as a clark*, implies a tendency to living life in a manner that might be viewed as being the non-emotional. And, to a certain extent, that is true. However the blogosphere is nothing if it is not crowded with very exceptional people. People who (we might meet), provided that we are deserving…or in the case of some of us, just plain lucky. I refer, of course, to not only Considerer… the person who has taken a good idea and turned it into a useful/beneficial thing, in the form of this Post. (and there are my co-hostini: Christine and Sadie and Andie and Kristi and Joy and Rebecca and ‘Hexa

So let me stop here. Do promise to strive to provide (lol)  a view of the thankful things in life as viewed (from the worldview of your choice) in the coming Saturdays.

For now, please pick the pronoun, verb, or whatever-the-hell- -iciple these are and apply to my 10 List below ( I, we, often feel, amazing, damn!, sure am lucky ’cause, I guess I am fortunate!)

  1. learned how to have video chats ….with Considerer yesterday. Very cool.
  2. having a dog with a fairly anthropomorphic view of sleeping in bed… see photo above
  3. having eyes that are roll-able (however not having any desire to roll them, despite what our Hop Leaderini may contend in Item #2 in her Post today)
  4. still having the …capacity (to a lesser extent) and the desire (to an undiminished extent) to get up at an ungodly hour in the morning
  5. have work that while requiring my…. participation on Saturdays is still there
  6. having a rogerian wife, who in her incredibly diverse, densely scheduled yet fully enjoyed weekend, seems to enjoy all of her non-working time
  7. the time of year being one in which the days will continue to get longer (for at least near a week) more
  8. the technology that is available today, granting as it does, the opportunity for ways and means of communication that were simply not possible as little as 5 years ago
  9. having read science fiction when growing up, the better able to appreciate #8
  10. the Wakefield Doctrine  for providing me with a tool, a lens, if you will, to better understand all the people and the events around me

FTSF-TWD-(ToCSR) ….yes, it’s also acronym Day!!! (oh, sorry, …it’s AD!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Three Ages Giorgione (Giorgio Barbarelli da Castelfranco)

The (non-complete) Sentence Sistas1,234 speak!

The hardest part about my day is…”

I’d be more comfortable inferring the difficult part(s) by describing the easy parts. The reason is that, being the Wakefield Doctrine, I feel the need to address how each of the three personality types would respond to this question. (and) the reason I feel that need, is simply that it is a basic tenet of the Doctrine that we all possess the capability to experience the world from the perspective of the three worldviews. (We all live in one of the three worldviews, we are predominately clarks or scotts or rogers. We all retain the capability for the ‘other two’ and some of us have this capability to such an extent that it has an effect on our behavior and perception and actions (you know, our personalities!) we, call these our secondary and tertiary aspects. ex. I am a clark with a significant secondary scottian aspect and a minor rogerian aspect. Pretty simple, isn’t it?)

The (not) hardest part about my day (as a clark is…)

the morning. we like mornings, unless there is some scary thing that has to be done later in the day. we especially enjoy very early mornings…when only the birds and down-shifting trucks on the distant highway can be heard. we like, and therefore the most (not)hard part of the day is before the world/our ‘real’ lives is irrevocably defined…there is hope in the vague light of the dawn hours. we’ll get up way early just for a chance to let our plans out, un-hindered by the realities of the day. we like the morning, it’s the rest of the day that we would like to be different…

The (not) hardest part about my day (as a scott is…)

the night!!!!. we love the night, unless we are being chased by elements of our daytime world. the night and early evening is when everyone else begins to slow down and relax, (like antelope at the little clearing by a river that is otherwise inaccessible, (ya know?).  we spend the daytime actively working hard, finding new ways to get people to do more than they realize they can do, but! (as J. Hendrix sang), ‘when the day melts down into a sleepy red glow, thats when my desires start to show‘  Hey!!  the volume we are heard at may decrease at the end of the daytime hours, but our intensity so does not diminish… come on, lets skip the morning, spend the daytime getting ready and live for the night.  Hey!!

The (not) hardest part about my day (as a roger is…)

why the day (and some of the night). that’s kind of a limiting question, do you think? it’s not that it’s a bad idea! but the way you are framing the question leaves a (little) to be desired, you know? we enjoy each part of the day as what it is. we feel that you are putting un-necessarily arbitrary limits on your own question. during the daytime hours we are busy, a place for everything and idle hands are the devils workshops. the morning really is a time of appreciation for how much good there is in the world, you should try it. the day and late afternoons take care of themselves. the night, they’re fun too, but that’s none of your business. nice list.

Thanks to our friends for giving us a break from the week’s schedule to get out and read all your Posts and such

how about another fairy tale? the Wakefield Doctrine ( kitchen sink?? over here next to the other odds and ends)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

A lot of ground to cover…so lets get right to it!

…to help Readers make informed choices in which part or parts of the Post to partake in, following is a list of … keywords  hints….teasers…  tags!!  yeah that’s it! Following is a tag cloud for today’s Post:

“When the tale begins, a mother duck’s eggs hatch. One of the little birds is perceived by the other birds and animals on the farm as a homely little creature and suffers much verbal and physical abuse from them. He wanders sadly from the barnyard and lives with wild ducks and geese until hunters slaughter the flocks. He finds a home with an old woman but her cat and hen tease him mercilessly and again he sets off on his own. He sees a flock of migrating wild swans; he is delighted and excited but he cannot join them for he is too young and cannot fly. Winter arrives. A farmer finds and carries the freezing little bird home, but the foundling is frightened by the farmer’s noisy children and flees the house. He spends a miserable winter alone in the outdoors mostly hiding in a cave on the lake that partly freezes over. When spring arrives a flock of swans descends on the now thawing lake. The ugly duckling, now having fully grown and matured cannot endure a life of solitude and hardship any more and decides to throw himself at the flock of swans deciding that it is better to be killed by such beautiful birds than to live a life of ugliness and misery. He is shocked when the swans welcome and accept him, only to realize by looking at his reflection in the water that he has grown into one of them. The flock takes to the air and the ugly duckling spreads his beautiful large wings and takes flight with the rest of his new family”   (Wikipedia)

So how do we use this very, very well-known fable to illustrate some aspect (or larger principle) of the Wakefield Doctrine?

Most Readers (and virtually any scotts wandering by at the moment), will be expecting us to get all smart-ass and funny with this Fairy Tale. (The rogers, on the other hand, are holding back, not quite lurking, but for all of the seemingly interested and supportive regard for us, there is a very real risk of their ‘lashing out’.)

(Hey!!  Tee Shirt Contest!!  one free docTee to the first Reader who can correctly describe how a roger is likely to respond to a clark liking this tale of Outsider-ness*)

But you know? I’m thinking that this Fable does not comprise an overly distorted view of reality (aka as a worldview).

Yes, of course we have a Video Post!

* sorry Advanced DownSprings are asked to hold back your Answers ’til the end of the day tomorrow, no sense taking the fun and excitement out of it for the newer Readers.

“…take your protein pills and put your helmet on” the Wakefield Doctrine ( hey!! it’s Monday!!!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine ( the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

572

But like most of  my experience with this Wakefield Doctrine thing, what I write in these Posts are not always a matter of conscious choice.”

Surely this is a milestone of sorts for us down here in the Wakefield Doctrine word-assembly-line. I’m trying to jump-start today’s Post with a line from a Post from 2010.

(hey!  if Readers are starting to read the old stuff ( the ‘live traffic feed’ in the sidebar… shows where visitors are from … like Cyndi  down there in the enchanted land of Nebo and what page they reading) then I won’t be able to get away with re-print Posts!)

other random notifications, updates and gossip:

  • ‘cellent start to the 10 Thankful Things blog hop that DownSpring Considerer launched this weekend past. Plenty good contributions from everbody  but ‘specially  FOTD Kristi  and  Christine (try and guess which of the three worldviews our friend is experiencing… lol) and a new guy that we liked reading Jak… Cryton (Chronicles of the same name). In any event  very good start. Amazing participation (‘specially being on a Saturday in June!)
  • Great Saturday Night Drive!!  we had Denise, Cyndi and Progenitor roger in the dashboard!  very fun discussion ensued. to wit: the (future) dynamics of attraction as it applies to rogers and scotts, workplace strategies, new docTees(!), the decision to think about maybe getting Wakefield Doctrine Business cards (all thoughts and ideas as to design is welcomed), Cyndi suggested using google+ hangout as a way to facilitate our away friends calling in… Friends of the Doctrine such as Melanie and Joy and Considerer and them
  • monster turnout on the Finish the Sentence Friday (courtesy of Janine and Kate and Stephanie and Dawn)  …and in answer to the un-asked question, it was a very small fire, kinda blue and krinkly and smelled not-s0-good and  barely made it to my hair line.
  • you know how we are trying to learn the true nature of all three worldviews? (well, we are) in conversation with Lise (who is so a roger) she threw out the following concept:  ‘wildebeests jostling for position as they cross a stream‘ my response was an immediate ‘aiiyeee!’*

* see, the thing about the Wakefield Doctrine is this: we all are born with the potential/capability to experience the world in one of three characteristic manners (we call these worldviews, or personal realities) and at an early age we make one of these worldviews our predominate (personal) reality. So, for the sake of example, I experienced the world around me as (an) Outsider would. Now the important thing to bear in mind with this Doctrine thing is that when I said ‘I experienced the world as (an) Outsider would’ I totally do not mean, ‘I figured I should act a certain way, and I thought it best to try and…’  No. I mean the nature of reality (for me) was what we refer to as ‘that of the Outsider’. The world was of a type that I was an Outsider, I developed my personality (i.e. coping strategies, social skills, expectations of relationships) in response to the world as I found it. The Wakefield Doctrine is very different from most of the other views of personality types in that we do not say, ‘hey you have these habits, and your preferred choice of response in a situation is thus and so…’  instead we say, ‘if you are dropped into the personal reality of the Predator at age 3 to 5 and we come back when you are 23, then we will see a person with an aggressive manner, and impulse to act before thinking, a mercurial temperament and a totally over-developed sex drive… because you are a scott.  If, instead we dropped you into the world of the Herd and came back when you are 23, we would find a socially adept, respecter of Rules, precise and emotionally engaging homemaker (whose home is magazine perfect).  You get the idea?  We are reflections of our predominant worldviews.
Now before you get all teleologically depressed and such… remember!  while we all have one predominant worldview, we also have the potential to experience the world as do ‘the other two’. I will say without reservation, as a clark, that is cause for celebration. We (clarks) are heir to all of the characteristics that we (semi)-mistakenly believe we  lack!

** damn!  easier than even I thought…the ‘still photo’ of the video shows the scott… complete with the ‘eyes of a scott’ don’t worry about the other two… the clark will jump right out at you***
*** well, not ‘jump’ lol  when was the last time you saw a clark frickin jump?  didn’t think so

Thats enough for this morning.
