Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine ( the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
“But like most of my experience with this Wakefield Doctrine thing, what I write in these Posts are not always a matter of conscious choice.”
Surely this is a milestone of sorts for us down here in the Wakefield Doctrine word-assembly-line. I’m trying to jump-start today’s Post with a line from a Post from 2010.
(hey! if Readers are starting to read the old stuff ( the ‘live traffic feed’ in the sidebar… shows where visitors are from … like Cyndi down there in the enchanted land of Nebo and what page they reading) then I won’t be able to get away with re-print Posts!)
other random notifications, updates and gossip:
- ‘cellent start to the 10 Thankful Things blog hop that DownSpring Considerer launched this weekend past. Plenty good contributions from everbody but ‘specially FOTD Kristi and Christine (try and guess which of the three worldviews our friend is experiencing… lol) and a new guy that we liked reading Jak… Cryton (Chronicles of the same name). In any event very good start. Amazing participation (‘specially being on a Saturday in June!)
- Great Saturday Night Drive!! we had Denise, Cyndi and Progenitor roger in the dashboard! very fun discussion ensued. to wit: the (future) dynamics of attraction as it applies to rogers and scotts, workplace strategies, new docTees(!), the decision to think about maybe getting Wakefield Doctrine Business cards (all thoughts and ideas as to design is welcomed), Cyndi suggested using google+ hangout as a way to facilitate our away friends calling in… Friends of the Doctrine such as Melanie and Joy and Considerer and them
- monster turnout on the Finish the Sentence Friday (courtesy of Janine and Kate and Stephanie and Dawn) …and in answer to the un-asked question, it was a very small fire, kinda blue and krinkly and smelled not-s0-good and barely made it to my hair line.
- you know how we are trying to learn the true nature of all three worldviews? (well, we are) in conversation with Lise (who is so a roger) she threw out the following concept: ‘wildebeests jostling for position as they cross a stream‘ my response was an immediate ‘aiiyeee!’*
Personality types by music video:
roger and a scott and a clark (can you identify them?**)

* see, the thing about the Wakefield Doctrine is this: we all are born with the potential/capability to experience the world in one of three characteristic manners (we call these worldviews, or personal realities) and at an early age we make one of these worldviews our predominate (personal) reality. So, for the sake of example, I experienced the world around me as (an) Outsider would. Now the important thing to bear in mind with this Doctrine thing is that when I said ‘I experienced the world as (an) Outsider would’ I totally do not mean, ‘I figured I should act a certain way, and I thought it best to try and…’ No. I mean the nature of reality (for me) was what we refer to as ‘that of the Outsider’. The world was of a type that I was an Outsider, I developed my personality (i.e. coping strategies, social skills, expectations of relationships) in response to the world as I found it. The Wakefield Doctrine is very different from most of the other views of personality types in that we do not say, ‘hey you have these habits, and your preferred choice of response in a situation is thus and so…’ instead we say, ‘if you are dropped into the personal reality of the Predator at age 3 to 5 and we come back when you are 23, then we will see a person with an aggressive manner, and impulse to act before thinking, a mercurial temperament and a totally over-developed sex drive… because you are a scott. If, instead we dropped you into the world of the Herd and came back when you are 23, we would find a socially adept, respecter of Rules, precise and emotionally engaging homemaker (whose home is magazine perfect). You get the idea? We are reflections of our predominant worldviews.
Now before you get all teleologically depressed and such… remember! while we all have one predominant worldview, we also have the potential to experience the world as do ‘the other two’. I will say without reservation, as a clark, that is cause for celebration. We (clarks) are heir to all of the characteristics that we (semi)-mistakenly believe we lack!
** damn! easier than even I thought…the ‘still photo’ of the video shows the scott… complete with the ‘eyes of a scott’ don’t worry about the other two… the clark will jump right out at you***
*** well, not ‘jump’ lol when was the last time you saw a clark frickin jump? didn’t think so
Thats enough for this morning.

Me! Me! Pick me! Mr. Lee is of my own people! He is on the stage with those guys but not:) Just look at his face. Hunched shoulders on a guitar player contributes not (much) to peg him as the clark.
Look at the flames on his guitar! Do I hear an aye for Mr. Burton as the scott? Yeah, yeah, he eyes lol
Which leaves our affable Mr. Gill. He might as well be playing a 4th of July picnic at cousin Jean’s house. And isn’t his fingerwork “precise”. He be a roger alright!
But!! I love Earl (Heartstring is on my list of all time favorite albums). Keb Mo is one of my more contemporary listening “acquisitions”. Will go right now to youtube and watch them in action. Surely I can identify them after that…knowing the Doctrine an all:)
@Denise
for our less guitar player obsessed Readers: ‘Mr. Lee’ is Albert Lee the gentleman with the un-ruly hair and bad posture in between the roger and the scott (of course!) and his smile…lol what clark out there does not recognize the ‘I’m-having-so-much-fun-I-hope-nobody-calls-me-for-being-happy’ smile
Aha! I was remiss in not noting the smile specifically. As it pertains to clarks. :-D
I would challenge any clark to deny having been asked by someone: “what are you smiling about?” when apparently no one else necessarily was. Or one of my favorites: “did you know you were smiling?” Again, most likely not in the company of other smiling people. lol
Smile + far away eyes = clark
Now, lest some new readers think “aha! these clarks must be a happy bunch by nature”. Think again!!
I dunno what that music was, but it was awesome.
I pegged the lead guy and the drummer as scotts, the guy with flyaway hair and the red guitar and possibly the backing guy with the blue shirt (to the left of the drummer) as clarks. I thought the keyboard player might be a roger, but I’m still not great with rogers…
That was very cool – thank you :)
Or, if the lead is a roger and the flaming-guitar guy is a scott, does that make Sheryl Crow a scott, too? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOXf9oAGfDw
@Considerer
good question… anyone care to hazard an opinion?
Would have seen Vince Gill as Roger, but on reflection, Keb Mo might be. Hmm. Still wrapping my head around the three personalities!
@Michelle
no! you clearly have it! Vince is the roger I was referring to (I should have been more specific with my ‘challenge’ as I was mostly interested in the front three: Vince Gill (roger) Albert Lee (clark) and James Burton (scott…with guitar with the flames on it, of course!)) lol
Haha. That was a very fun conversation on Saturday and nice to met progenitor roger:) I am loving all this. The Doctrine is gonna go big one of these days :)
@Cyndi
yes, it was a fun call. (working on trying to understand the Google+ hangout thing)
I am so not adept at these guessing games (Ok, I know, a cop-out), but I will go so far as to say that those guys can jam!! Loved the video!!
@Emily
yes, all ridiculously talented musicians! the one I like the best is Albert Lee because he is such a clark… (the guy in the background of course) with the wild grey/white hair… if you never heard of the Doctrine and I described clarks… he would be everyone’s pick lol
Hi Cyndi- nice meeting you also. A very fun conversation. I hope I can ever watch someone flexing muscles without laughing out loud…
@RCoyne
lol
Thanks for getting my morning started with the fun, foot-tapping, head-shaking music. Loved it! Now I can start Tuesday properly ;)
“They like me… They really like me!”
I may be amped up on a power drink and I think this liquid flavor thing I injected into my water is also “energy” based… so I may end up dead… or actually being highly productive in these wee hours while most of the world slumbers… at least in my neck of the woods anyhow.
Thanks for the mention! I feel all tingly… but that could be because I am borderline diabetic and ate two donuts along with the power drink. So you never know.
You say “we” and there are three individuals in the picture, so either this is a collaborative type of a shindig… or you are Venom. I may have to investigate some.
Your “traffic” thing feels so violating to my stupendous attempts at remaining anonymous lol I’m sure I’ll find a way to get “even”
May have to check out that Friday blog hop (in terms of participating), but still would prefer the Music one if trying to stick to two. Time will tell.
PS I use “…”s a ton!
PPS I will pretend I didn’t notice the “scott” / “clark” section until I get a grasp on if I’ve walked into a scripting of the Twilight Zone, if that’s okay for now :)
*backs out slowly*
Jak
@Jak
“…Your “traffic” thing feels so violating to my stupendous attempts at remaining anonymous lol”
Oh, sorry…can’t imagine anyone feeling that way. (do you really want to wear that shirt with those pants?) ..be that as it may.
lol… for what it’s worth, I think they’re going on server location. DownSpring Cyndi insists that there is no place called Nebo, North Carolina but it’s kinda fun to see the variety of visitors, that uh ..varies from time to time over the course of a normal week.
Even though there are, in fact, three people (corresponding to the three people forming the name of the theory that carries their names…) there is, alas, only me at the keyboard. Progenitor roger will, on rare occasion, do a guest Post (as do some of the others) from time to time, but you are all pretty much stuck with me.
The Friday blog-hop with the eponymous title ‘Finish The Sentence Friday’ is the first of the blog hops that I started participating in… fun in a “here’s 6 notes in the Key of G…” kind of way. Jen and Kristi’s hop is, simpler and more fun in a certain way.
As to the content of this here blog here… I genuinely welcome feedback on the ‘presentation’ of the idea behind it especially from first time visitors, particularly those who find themselves enjoying the concept (“why, no…we always lock the door…for everyone’s …security, you know”) lol Serially, this personality theory is fun and useful. Ask anyone of the Commentationers… they are a very exceptional bunch of lifeforms.
(free sample answers to questions: a) why no, you have to figure that out all on your own; 2) of course I do! but I just said…it is the right of all participants to decide for themselves c) don’t forget this is a ‘mostly’ thing plus there is the secondary and tertiary aspects that make you look one way one time and another way another time.) (bonus answer: no. yes, mostly. I wish.)
hey, sorry to say I am not really sure the ‘use’ intended as stated in your PS (above) …so just to (over) compensate, I will end my Comment with a cultural reference most likely from before your time*
“I am Number 2. You are Number 6”
*of course, with ‘the google’ nothing is before any frickin body’s time
