Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
(somehow we are already a month into this bloghop! Given life by Considerer* this blog hop has become a weekend-long conversation** on the topic of Gratitude and appreciation of the day to day life we all experience).
There are, of course, co-hosts** who, with their contributions, help create the really unique thing about this here blog here… Ten Things of Thankful has become (over the few weeks we have been doing this), a conversation. A lot of bloggers strive to engage their Readers, trying for a dialogue, however, few succeed. This blog is clearly showing signs of being the exception. Personally, I had my doubts about trying for a 2 day ‘posting period’…thinking that the initial influx of Posts would wane at the end of Saturday, leaving this blog hop to languish on Sunday. I am pleased to be wrong! (Item #1: on the Secret list of 10 Things Thankful for June 29-30, ‘happy to have been wrong’), and paradoxically, it was the ‘extra time’ made available to people to submit their Posts that created the foundation for a conversation to come into life on these pages. (damn! there’s my hook! er my thesis.. Item#2: ‘finding a theme to tie the words together in order to write this Post’). In addition, Considerer being over in the UK somewhere, she starts ‘the ball rolling’ at midnight local time which has it up and running when I get to it, in the morning (my local time for me being EDT). Deliberate or not, running the idea of a blog hop running for the entire weekend is the stroke of genius that will so make this blog hop the place to be!.
The other thing unusual about how this blog hop is developing, once again courtesy of our hostini prime, is the idea of multiple Posts… as in, if you get an idea for a Post after reading the contributions of the others, you have the time (and audience) if you want to submit another Post on Sunday!) I am really grateful for that (cha ching! Item #3: ‘the appreciation of C0nsiderer’s having the whatever to insist on a 2 day blog hop!’).
In any event, if you are reading this for the first time, be sure to visit all the other Posts!! thank god Considerer has some very skilled and talented writer-friends. (…wait for it!….. Item#4: ‘the company that I am keeping here as a co-host). You will see not only a very wide variety of styles… but, (the) viewpoints and insights available here adds up to something pretty damn exceptional. ( Item#5: ‘the variety of writings here in the 10 Thanks’. (Kind of a mulligan but I’ll be glad to take it.!)) …. (yes, yes I will claim that as Item #6: ‘being allowed to enjoy writing this Post in whatever weird-ass way I seem to find amusing’).
In all seriousness, I am grateful for having the friends that I have as a result of my efforts at writing my own blog, the Wakefield Doctrine. It may sound somewhat selfish, but I get a direct benefit from my participation in the Then Things Thankful… I slowly improve my writing, mostly by reading and trying to understand how you people (collectively) manage to convey your ideas, thoughts and most importantly, (to me), the emotions you have, as you share the Ten Things in your blog Posts. I will say, without fear of contradiction, I get something every time I participate here. I may not always see it or be able to express it, but I am beginning to feel it. ( Items # 7,8,9)
Thanks Considerer!
(…lol am I really the kind of person that would leave that hanging, just for ‘effect’?)
* not her real name, but she is the Author of the excellent blog Considerings hence the name
** hostesseses…. who, by their participation give substance to the idea underlying this bloghop
*** mulligan: In golf, a mulligan is a stroke that is replayed from the spot of the previous stroke without penalty, due to an errant shot made on the previous stroke. The result, as the hole is played and scored, is as if the first errant shot had never been made.
