so you’ll hear us make the statement, “…with the Wakefield Doctrine, you will be in a position to know the other person better than they know themselves.”

bold statement? (yes, yes it is)

but, it’s true.

At this moment*, some of you are thinking, “if only“….and others, “yeah!!” and (still) others could be heard muttering to themselves, “who the hell does this guy think he is? does he realize who we are” 

What we mean by this statement is simply this: the Wakefield Doctrine is predicated on the notion that we all grow up, develop, live, love, hate, fight and die in what we call a worldview (just a made up word for ‘personal reality’). the Wakefield Doctrine goes on to say that there are three worldviews:

  1. the life of the Outsider (clarks) in which the very nature of the world is one of being excluded…. (think the Garden of Eden thing….’cept there were more people (at least six) and nobody got thrown out, but the one of the three got a serious jones for the tree of knowledge and god went and put a ‘kick me/kiss me I’m weird’ sign on their backs and made everyone else promise not to tell)
  2. the world of the Predator (scotts) since we’re into the Adam and Eve metaphor… these are the people who Satan didn’t even bother with… not that they are evil, just that for Satan to score any points in the contest with god, he needed people who would be tempted by: physical pleasure, mental aggressiveness, a way of living without thinking of future and/or consequences, with these two, one effort at temptation was all it took … (“Apple??  I got ya apple…right here“/ “why, aren’t you the attractive snake, you know what that makes me think of?”) He almost gave up and then
  3. the reality of the Herd Member (rogers)… how is it a person can be both the ideal victim for a temptation and, through their avowed resistance, become the greatest promoter?

Well, we certainly veered off track this morning!  Time to go to work.

Hey, help me out here. If you write a good Comment, I’ll cut and paste the darling right here and then, later in the day, when the 2nd shift clocks in, they won’t know what’s going on!  (well, probably they will).

(if I may… West Point (actually the whole of the military organization is, at heart, rogerian. We see scotts in that context, cause they are drawn to noise and excitement and getting to shoot at stuff, but as you look through history, the scottian military figures tend to not last…at least in the organization. I’m thinking Patton… Grant guys like that. )

….and if anyone sees zoe, tell her to get on over here.

(oh yeah…the rest of the explanation: the reason we know more about you is that, when applied correctly, the Wakefield Doctrine will allow me to know how you relate yourself to the world around you….and knowing that world, I’ll know your first response to many a (not all!) life situation. ya know?)

 

* why no, this is not what we mean by ‘know the other person better than they know themselves’… but it’s close

TToT for Saturday the Wakefield Doctrine (…nope! got nothin! no clever little side-title)

1) (apparently) we are approaching a significant anniversary for this, the-bloghop-that-Lizzi-built. I can say, ‘apparently’ without sounding like I’m not keeping up with things because of my Y Chrome heritage. It is an established, medical fact, that my people are unable to remember certain dates

2) having said that, I do recall Jak’s clearly excellent suggestion for last Summer’s, anniversary, i.e. to have it incorporate ‘naked cake’…rumour has it, he is spearheading this year’s celebration research

3) …oh! yeah… damn! almost forgot!! “I am grateful the following: ”  ( this being the requisite set up to the list of Ten Things! Just imagine that I have that phrase at the beginning of this List…but don’t try to imagine why, given that this is a computer and nothing could be easier, I didn’t just cut ‘n paste it.)

4) I want to thank roger for this week’s Thursday Guest Post Post, he stood up for rogers all over the place… and it was a well-written and enjoyable-to-read Post, as is only natural, what with him not only being a roger, but, in fact, the progenitor roger (which only means, he is the reason we don’t have a ‘theory of clarks, scotts and barrys’ which would totally be stupid, and all the docTees would have to be corrected)

5) speaking of docTees, I’m really trying to get the next edition to manifest in our common reality… two challenges: design and finance.  The design challenge is because it has been suggested, (mostly by Ms. Rogers), that you people of the X Chrome persuasion would prefer a different form of torso covering… specifically some type of tank top. The thing that’s giving me trouble is where to fit everything! They don’t have as much printable area as does our traditional line of docTee. We’ll continue to produce the traditional design, but if anyone has any thoughts on how to include the following mandatory elements:  the Wakefield Doctrine/ the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers  (and) the url  (and) ‘clark‘  (or) ‘scott‘  (or) ‘roger‘  please let us know!

6) …speaking of docTees and contests, I remembered how much fun they are last night, while on the vidchat. Lizzi’s video on this week’s TToT contains a certain comedic element that I found only a few people recognized, we I sponsored an impromptu contest, but only one person won a docTee, Linda!  (…at about 1:50 into Lizzi’s vid, she does something that is a ‘staple’ of the physical comedy genre… a basic element of the vocabulary of comedy)

7) I should include ‘my work’, as a grat item, as it is not only essential to whatever it is I do with my life, but it is also a laboratory for working out and developing the Wakefield Doctrine as a tool for self-improving myself … much yet to be be learned and understood

8) our continued anti-appreciation for Christine’s infirmity. ( sounds like a great title for a romance novel series!) Now, we trust that Christine will understand that we use the term ‘infirmity’ only to reference her current mis-aligned tricycle patellar-mocus, and not as a general characterization of her physical/mental state.

9) We will be auditioning clarks for next week’s guest Post post… all are encouraged to apply…only those who refuse to apply are qualified and, of those, only the applicants who insist that someone else would be much better, will be considered

10) oh! yeah!  the photos!! (in today’s Post)!  lol  well one ( of the two)  is easy!  Una and I went for our weekly walk* and, since I didn’t have any duct tape to stick the video camera to my head, I thought, better to do a ‘still shot’, the better to spare me the grief when Dyanne and Christine read the Post…. speaking of Christine and Dyanne (and Jean, for that matter), the other photo* (the thumbnail on the landing page), that is a photo of a friend of mine at work…she is a scott and, for whatever reason, I actually noticed that she had new shoes on, and her enthusiasm at my perceptiveness made me think, “damn! I should get a picture of this!”  and so the photo.

That was enjoyable, we want to thank roger for his guest Post (writing) and for all the Readers (reading) for making the First Annual Explanation Week (annually) such a success.

Easy day today. Lets dispense with the double-windsor of grammar and the corset of logical presentation and just have a little chat about the week past. aiight?

shout out to them what go for the FRIST!  Leading in the scoring has gots to be Jean ( all, jean of) she pretty good at the FRIST(ationing).   hey, Christine! are you chewing the woodwork yet? (this is, of course, a reference to her predominant scottian worldview, in general and her being somewhat restrained,  by her tearing of her menial triacylglycerol-abacus and having to use crutches and such.. as we know, scotts ain’t got time for sitting around while they heal, the result is often observed in: increased playing of online scrabble, a hyper-awareness of movement by anything within eyesight and increase acuity in detecting sound… yeah, they totally know how to follow doctors orders), speaking of scotts, Joy who has promised us a copy (well, more a viewing) of her celebrity video (woo hoo!!), reports out are that it has women, cars and illegal acts!  I ask you all, what’s not to like?  Kristi  that’s all we’re going to say…. (lol, one of things I like the most about her… the energy that is a part of everything she does… ex.  (posting about buying groceries): “…the fuckin store was full of …people and this woman was yelling at her child, so naturally I tapped her on the shoulder (using my ‘less-that-12-items-basket’) and asked her to stop but then this really hot Manager started to…”).  Lizzi… acck! she spent, (at last reports), the last half of this week without…access…to…the internet (!!!) ayieee!  what an awful thing to happen to anyone, I understand she is back and readjusting, hopeful she will be back in time for the vid chat.   hey!  speaking of vid chats… you know who’s a reglar  on our little party-at-George-and-Jane-Jetson’s every Friday?  Laura.  very cool  (she writes this blog History of a Woman )  also thanks to Michelle for joining us for the Guest Post Thursday…(as everyone knows she and Lizzi are the hosts of the Friday vidchat)  and, of course, zoe  for providing such beneficial and insight-generating obstinacy  on the Doctrine!  (it’s not talking-out-of-class, to mention that zoe is a self-professed clark with a significant secondary rogerian aspect)… and while interesting simply as a combination, one of the effect of her secondary, is to present challenges that I cannot present to myself, i.e. in the process of presenting the Wakefield Doctrine.  very cool… in fact, I had something to say about the subjectivity of the Doctrine as a tool (in response to a Comment from zoe from, like, months ago) that I think I will have to revisit…having lost my train of thought and all, (has to do with a use of the ‘this Doctrine is for you, not them’ principle).

but that’s all the time we have, but tonight, tonight!  Wakefield Doctrine presents….. the Week Ahead!! the Wakefield Doctrine it’s Explanation Week! (no, I’m not going to do the obvious joke)

*****explanations are to clarks as sex is to scotts and tradition is to rogers*****

Hey! Have I mentioned how I’ve decided that I need to bring back dome of the more…scottian style to this here blog here? Nothing too scottian. In fact, probably not scottian at all, in the eyes of a predominate scott or a roger in that mood.  It’s just that when I started writing this thing there was only a few people around and they already knew the Doctrine first hand and so I found myself coming up with provocative and somewhat inflammatory ways to express the principles and insights of the Wakefield Doctrine. It was fun. I’m in the mood for some more of that kind of post-writing. (No!! Christine and Jean and (even) Dyanne  don’t worry!  This is not going to be one of those times when (the guy you’re with on the second date or your husband at the family reunion) comes upon some kids skateboarding and jumping over shit and all and he says,  “hey! I loved to skateboard back in school…in fact, I was pretty good….watch this!!”)

In any event, this is Explanation Week, so be on the look out for some fun insights.

Monday: Establish this as Explanations Week

Tuesday: easiest-going day of the whole damn workweek… sort of the Vanilla Wafers of the workweek

Wednesday: the fulcrum the tipping point (I really hate the expression  ‘hump day’… that, frankly is a rogerian sub-conscious attempt to provoke a scott into contributing to whatever conversation is going on in the break room at the time… there is a perfectly good clark sitting right over there, but…nooo!  the rogers don’t think a response from a clark will do anything to enhance their own position in the herd…and…er oh, yeah, we’ll think of something fun!)

Thursday: the second installment of Thursday’s Guest Post Thursday!!

Friday: day off!

So lets get to some ‘splanations:

clarks are Outsiders and scotts are Predators and rogers are Herd Members… too basic?   yeah, I agree. Although… there was a time, in the early days, when some of the scotts were trying to object to the term ‘Predator’ saying it was inherently pejorative and not very nice  (lol… but the thing was, I ‘watched’ them as they said that and noted that they, (the scotts), were looking around when they raised that objection, not looking at me, looking at everyone else (sorta on the sly, ya know?)  and,  well, I discovered the Wakefield Doctrine during the day, but it wasn’t yesterday!  …so I helped the scotts see that they were not going to be able to spook the herd that easily!

hey!! I’ve been a bit remiss in the last week or so with getting to everyone’s Post at the TToT… not ‘proper’ (especially being the sole rep from the Y Chrome Province)… so, I hope you don’t mind, but I brought along some homework from the weekend. Posts that I wasn’t able to get to before the end of Sunday, will get to them in the course of the day, today. I trust Lizzi will not mind.

Hey! Everyone! I am so far behind that I will one thing before I hit the proverbial road:

  1. try to present a premise that allows me to post a truncated TToT list here… predicated on some
  2. clever(ish) idea   and/or
  3. present here a defensible form of a TToT List

So here’s the thing. When I come back to computerville, I will have a video and a list and they will include mention of the following: Jean, Jak, work, running-around-in-the-morning, new series of Guest Posts, a (firm) resolution to get more organized, a ‘shout-out’ to Lizzi and the difference it makes around here when she is able to be fully here (as opposed to the A to Z Challenge demands), an acknowledge of anti-grat to Christine’s physical condition and an attempt to pre-empt her admonition about ‘you spent more time writing about how you were not able to write… aka Christine’s Rule  and, fear not!  something about the Wakefield Doctrine.

Funny thing is, I’m not going to publish this before I leave, so why the hell am I still typing?   ’cause, as zoe might say, “you never know, ya know?”
