‘…the songs! where are the s.s..songs?’ the Wakefield Doctrine it’s Tuesday, it’s Twisted, but is it a MixTape?

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

polaroid

There have been weeks when the songs, (in my head), build up in the days preceding Tuesday1, the snatches of melody gather in my head, like overly affectionate parrots on a senile pirate’s shoulder. Today, it is Tuesday2  and unfortunately this has not been  one of those weeks. Now this is not to say that the ‘theme’, for today’s TMT is not valid or memorable or …suggestive. It is, they are, we could be…

I just can’t get the songs to sample in my head! My approach to Jen and Kristi’s totally fun bloghop is simply to find one song that seems to say: (“insert theme here”) then get out to ‘the youtube’ for a video. So far, not long after I find the first song, the rest show up.  But today… but everything has the feeling of either déjà vu or déjà entendu.

But, the show must go on!3

Twisted MixTape 21

No Strings Attached

You know those musicians. It’s a seedy business. I mean, come on, Fleetwood Mac? Whom wasn’t with whom at some point. I think every single musician has written some song about an actual, or imagined, or desired night, or weekend or lifetime of a relationship with no strings attached. And so, without furtherness down this path that could cause trouble so I’ll just spin the tunes.

(Post-start Note: I feel that I can state, finally, that I appreciate how the force of habit can good for something more than:  refusing to lose weight, finding old friends interesting and/or staying in a relationship with sexually proficient partners. Here are some songs. I hope you find them enjoyable. I trust that my Summer cold/writers block will have resolved itself by next Monday.)

I’d rather fight zombies in a parking lot than in a shopping mall*, the Wakefield Doctrine ’10 Things of Thankful’ (Bloghop and Weekend hangout…the 3rd)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Weekends1. A job that involves working every/any day of the week2. A moment in bed in the morning before the day begins3. A secondary scottian aspect4. A new toaster5. The clean slate environment of the blogosphere6. An appreciation of the unusual7. A dog to greet me8. Having our new Wakefield Doctrine docTees finally be ready to ship9. Sending Wakefield Doctrine tee shirts to people around the globe10.

Alright, so what is it? Thankful or Grateful?  (our friends at ‘the Wikipedia’ define ‘thankful as :  “…a positive emotion or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive.”  while  a search for (a definition of the word) gratitude yields the following:

Gratitude is not the same as indebtedness. While both emotions occur following help, indebtedness occurs when a person perceives that they are under an obligation to make some repayment of compensation for the aid. The emotions lead to different actions; indebtedness can motivate the recipient of the aid to avoid the person who has helped them, whereas gratitude can motivate the recipient to seek out their benefactor and to improve their relationship with them.

* and what does the Wakefield Doctrine have to say about zombies and/or the Zombie Apocalypse? Two things: a) scotts would appear, at first blush**, to be the best equipped to survive a zombie attack, and they would, as long as they did not run out of ammo or break a heel and fall down, b) clarks actually will, be able to survive the up-coming humanity game-changer… for a number of reasons, not the least of which is, we can decide to not resist the overwhelming horde attack and pretend to be one of them, ‘passing as being zombish’ if you will, until we can make our escape and 3) yeah, rogers… stand on the roof top with the brain-eating mob on the street and yell, “hey! look isn’t that Ken Burns down the street there!!” and you’ll be able to waltz out the front door, safe as can be… until the crowd realizes that Ken never actually got bitten by a zombie

1) a certain suspension of expectations/demands as to how much energy we put into our activities

2) being in business for myself allows me to take whatever time off I would like, being in business for myself, of course means I hardly ever do…lol

3) just before the body gets up to ‘stand up now’ mode… when the brain is ‘still in it’s pajamas’  (the Title of today’s Post came in one those precious moments of sanctioned insanity)

4) cause otherwise, I would totally never hit publish on this… interesting take on a Gratitude List

5) if I have to explain, you would not get it

6) this is a place of the ultimate “if I could, I would…”

7) lol

8) dogs, are, as I constantly remind people, perfect lifeforms

9) they are getting even better…

10) Kristi and Considerer! watch those damn mailboxes!  (hey ChristineTracy yo!  as it works out… I only got 2 ‘scotts‘ tees printed this run… you’re both welcome to wear one of these nearly-free Official Doctrine apparel  lemme know)

** yeah, like a scott is gonna ever blush

there, and nearly, back again …the Wakefield Doctrine Road Trip 2013 (slight return)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

A quick Post as I sit in my room at the Hilton Garden Inn somewhere in Phoenix, return flighting early this morning and, with the benefits of a little time dilation/rollback, should be back on terra familiara by the end of the afternoon.

clarks really are an odd bunch, non? Would a scott or a roger:

  • study the maps covering the area to be travelled, knowing fully well that there will be a GPS with the rental car
  • spend nearly 8 hours in the car and (an average) of 15 minutes at each tourist attraction(s)*
  • enjoy the driving even more as the weather conditions went bad (and we mean really enjoy as in ‘get excited and laugh and look for the video camera)
  • look upon the entire process (of travel and road trip) as possible evidence of a life well spent
  • compare what they have accomplished to people they know, not to feel superior to but to feel worthy of attention/ interest?

No, I gots a feeling not.
And, even by this blogs standards, the above should not resonate too strongly even with other clarks. There is some weird kind of after-effect that follows travelling out of my comfort zone. Not entirely bad, not simply good… it’s complicated. …you know, clarklike.

In any event, back to the grindstone. Will catch up with everyone beginning of this week.

Naturally we will have a location appropriate video.

* actually the Meteor Crater skewed the numbers, Winslow was about 5 minutes (not counting stopping in the gift shop conveniently located across the street).

the Wakefield Doctrine… “it’s not all read and study and Quizzes and such, we have fun too!”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Alright you Readers!  a show of (virtual) hands, who out there said, ” clarks are the ghosts, scotts are so the werewolves and those rogers? ‘Velcome to my castle’… lol vampires! vampires!”

OK! OK! we’ll do one more easy one and then we talk about the ‘why’ (we know that) they are clarks and scotts and rogers

The Wizard of Oz
The first part of this is so easy only because it’s Friday and we want you all to get it right! Anyone who does not get this one correct is required to call us tomorrow Night* and explain why you should be allowed to continue coming here and reading this thing.
So of the three: the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion which is the clark and which is the scott and which is the roger?

(Bonus Question!! The Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch: which is the clark, who is the scott and of the three, the roger is?)

Very good!

Before we dismiss class early, lets talk a little about the Doctrine and the first Quiz. I’m sure everyone correctly answered:  the ghost is a clark and the werewolf is a scott and Count Dracula is a roger. For the benefit of our newer Readers, here is how we came to that conclusion:

  • clarks live in the reality of the outsider. We don’t have to tell the clarks out there, but we will say to you rogers and scotts, there are times, when you are in a group of friends, a clark is standing one person away from you and jumping up and down and yelling and you don’t even hear a thing! Seriously, clarks are so the outsiders that not a week goes by that they do not find themselves, at some point in one of the days of the week, effectively invisible. Maybe not ‘photos-can’t-be-taken’ invisible, but in a group of people for all intents and purposes, they might as well stayed in Cleveland. Hence, the ghost
  • …so you are driving in your car, talking to your friend. Funny, thoughtful, even perceptive you enjoy the exchange of ideas. As you pull up to a traffic light, the first thing you notice is that the car in the lane next to you is full of girls, the next sound you hear is the passenger side window rolling down as your friend, by now physically half out of the car is yelling and hooting and making very loud noises… ah! the fun of scotts!
  • rogers are friendly, very friendly…if you think about the word in a generic sense, they are seductive in their friendliness they seem to hang on every word you say… then sun rises, you open the newspaper…rogers!!
Everyone have a good weekend! Those of you who have phones call us Saturday*. The number is below.
1-218-339-0422  the access code is: 512103 then hit the pound(#) sign  (some people tell us that they have to enter it twice before they get through…but if you want to do this thing, we trust you will do whatever it takes!)  Wakefield Doctrine Saturday Night Drive 8:00 to 8:45 pm EDT

the Wakefield Doctrine: it’s ‘Easy Week’ at the ole Wakefield Corral

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

DS#1 has posed the question:

Someone get that roger his bird water…tell him he’ll have to settle for slipper socks.
The peanut M&M’s are a go as is the Chardonnay. Cheese platter?! Fine.
Cheetos will be allowed on premises only if accompanied by an equal amount of Fritos. (regular ones, not those weird scooping ones.)
The cubanos – yes, I mean the cuban cigars. Have them personally delivered to my dressing room by Antonio Banderas. Yes, seriously.

Silly, no? But what about the very real possibility. Of a radio program. Who doesn’t have a radio show these days. Seems to make sense. At some point the Doctrine will be saturating the market. Why the hell not? I, for one, have already started using terminology on a more “day to day” basis. You know, getting comfortable with it. The theory of clarks, scotts and rogers….it is what it is

Since the corollary topic appears to be centered on the ‘state of the spirit’ of the current effort to spread the Wakefield Doctrine among people inclined to ‘get it’,  I will state, for the record, that I am in the midst of a project that involves my rogerian aspect.
(Compressed backstory: my rogerian aspect jumped out* recently and manifested in my workplace, effectively putting me in a position to host an after-hours social event for the other brokers in my office. Not surprisingly, the initial reaction to my emailed invitation has been mostly “WTF?”  This is totally appropriate as I am a clark and have assiduously cultivated a business persona so as to include a certain non-social aspect…nothing anti-social or in any way an impediment to my work, but lets just say, I am sent invitations to the annual Christmas Party only when a new person is in charge of organizing it. So today there is a certain level of anticipation regarding tonight’s affair, if for no other reason than the contrast between my established business persona (a clark) and this episodic persona (a roger!). Oh yeah, many of the attendees are ‘aware’ of the Wakefield Doctrine and, I would like to think, they are watching to see if I can pull this off as a roger.)

So lets get all ‘water cooler’ on the Doctrine this week! No lessons (at least for now) but if you care to Comment and start another ‘conversation’ or wish to Comment on either of the two threads established in today’s Post, have at it!
