Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s weekly participation in the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop.
According to Un-Reliable Narrator magazine: the TToT is the oldest continuously published bloghop (1887 to present) and ranks highest in the number continents where, provided one has sufficient privacy, it can be accessed. One survey in Women’s Wear Daily cites a ‘Glad-I-Stumbled-Across-This-Thing (Whatever-It-Is)’ rating of AA...ay! No less an authority than Librarian’s Secret gives it a Three-Fingers-To-Pursed-Lips rating.
So, come and join us and see how people, (presumedly like you), enhance their existence by focusing on the good in Life. For the Wakefield Doctrine, our list this week includes:
1) Phyllis
2) Una
4) Six Sentence Story bloghop
5) Winter? Well, not yet, however… Phyllis will have a field-day stacking the firewood we had delivered yesterday (no, serially, she’s actually into that kind of activity)
Before
6) See that Section just beyond the Husky-proof(ish) fence in the photo below? Thats the base for the Working Wood Pile where the individual fire units in Grat #5 will be transported and arranged on a pleasing, stable and gravity-resistant pattern.
7) WIP (Home Project Landscaping Division) de-Summering the Cottage Island
8) something, something
9) The co-hosts/co-hostinae, respectively: Frank, Andrew, Denise, Misky, cai, Knitcat, Dyanne, Kristi, Lisa and, as always, Mimi
10) Secret Rule 1.3

It looks like so much work getting ready for winter. The mind likes rhythmic, repetitive activity.
Phyllis does enjoy the stacking of firewood as a slow but steady form of exercise
That sounds like a wonderful silent rating: “Librarian’s Secret gives it a Three-Fingers-To-Pursed-Lips rating”
ikr? (don’t forget the reading glasses hung around the neck on a glass-beaded lanyard)
Oh, I remember getting ready for winter with the wood stacking and everything… Now I have been living an apartment life for 12 years. Weird how back then it was not one of my favourite activities… Though now I won’t mind doing it if I could get to sit in a cozy room with a fireplace and on warmer days drink my morning coffe outside.
yeah, know what you mean… for us the fireplace is a woodstove with a glass door so we can watch the burning with a level of efficiency (heatingistically speaking, a course)
#5 & 6 I second that as a great activity – does she put a slight slope on the pile so the rain runs off?
I believe so (it’s her thing so I simply fill the wheel barrow and bring it to her… this is the longer term wood pile not as concerned with rain as our ‘working supply’ is a rack about ten feet away from the door

example of rack
That’s one big mountain of firewood! I remember snakes over-wintering in the wood pile. I used to hate having pull the tarpaulin off and watching the snakes disappear into the stack.
All the best for for week, Clark.
thanks!
yeah not a huge population (maybe one sighting per year)… the arachnoidal species is another matter entirely (at least at this time of year)… luckily for me the types outside tend to stay outside (basically we don’t have enough food in the house for them to live on… lo (ewww) l
