Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Established in 1866 by a charwoman’s daughter in an attic apartment on Thrawl St in East London, it has been published continuously since. (Well, allowing for a certain fallow period, awaiting the technology required to make the TToT a household, wait, this quote better says it: ‘Familiar in his mouth as household words‘ ) So, join us with a list or, simply, with your attention as we band of bloggers share a recitation of the people, places, things and events that make us feel grateful.
1) Phyllis
2) Una
4) the momentary lapse in the crushing Winter, earlier in the week when it got into the seventies…degrees….Fahrenfrickenheit!
5) DST Daylight Savings Time (no, it doesn’t mean those ants among us can store it away for next late-November/deep-December) …but still
6) the Six Sentence Story bloghop
7) 21st C technology and the Wakefield Doctrine see: Yesterday’s Doctrine post.
8) A lot less snow than at the writing last week’s TToT
9) something, something
10) Secret Rule 1.3 [from the Book of Secret Rules, aka the Secret Book of Rules)

It seems the whole country thought winter was over and is now pulling those coats back on.
yeah… the primary offset is the time of year, ‘end-of-the-year blizzard-of-the-century’ are less intimidating when you’re a couple of weeks from Spring*
*’a course here at the Doctrine, we’re in Summer (since the days starting getting longer than shorter
(Kenneth’s H V moved to top of list!)
DST is huge. I imagine more so the farther north one travels.
70 degrees! How excellent (and weird) is that. ‘Course no weirder than us at 85 Wednesday and nearly an inch of snow the next day, lol
A lot less snow is a definite thankful.
yeah, excellent illustration(?) demonstration(?) whatever of the Shakespeare thing
Ah, the dog’s life … the cows do envy her.
I agree…
now, in this TToT we have photos of two of dogs… one living and one, most-missed, not. the dog in the photo with the cows is of Una. She was a chodsky pés which is a breed once restricted to the Czech Republic. In fact, we found Una online and purchased her and had her brought to where we live… but the photo!! Una’s approach to cows was to wait until the car was closest to them before barking (I would, of course, join in)
the other dog in this week’s TToT is Una, a Siberian Husky. the interesting thing about her is that she hardly ever barks! even when she goes to see the cows
funny the difference
Maybe the species dictates the trait to bark or not to bark. Of course the dog’s personality will also determine its propensity to bark or keep quiet.
The smart dog knows that barking while far away, is almost useless so it saves its effort.
Btw, the stack of TToT codes will finish at the end of March.
I’ll be thankful when we ditch Standard Time for Summer Time, which doesn’t happen until the end of the month.
All the best for an ever-warming week.
ty
so we used to have DST about the same time (end of March) but they moved it up…not sure why
gotta say I don’t hate the late sunsets, but I am an early morning person, so rob Peter to pay Paul
