TToT the Wakefield Doctrine (Saturday the someteenth…. Happy Sunday Day!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Item 1:   Item 2:  (and) Item 3:

Item 4: the discovery the 30-45 day lag in seasons. It’s made the weather much more tolerable. ( A Doctrine Note: of the three personality types, clarks are the ones that need to understand. This need is very simple, i.e. it’s about understanding the un-understood. Does not require a correct explanation, just one that is credible to us. This requirement applies across the spectrum: feeling sick, trying to get the new gas grill to light, getting turned down by a girl, getting turned down for a job, getting excessively (and obsessively) hit-on by a guy, having the family members give you the evil eye…. all are made better (well, more tolerable ) by the existence of an explanation) In this instance, if we think that the weather is perfect, but the calendar is running slow by 30 to 45 days, it’s all quite ‘understandable’! See? No problem!

Item 5: (temporary item*)  Exercise. I’ve started a deliberate effort to exercise, specifically running. Second-thing (6:00 am), in the morning, I walk out of my house and walk/run a route that takes me along a semi-busy road (morning commuters), through a condo development, then through a wooded, un-developed area, (then) back across the semi-busy road and home. First week’s average time: 30 minutes.

Item 6: anti-grateful* for  Friend-of-the-Doctrine Christine’s knee injury. While the prevailing, and, most credible accounting of this crutch-inducing mishap, is centered on a soccer game, I am going with: Christine was hurt as a result of an altercation following a win on the underground roller derby circuit. ( A little non-known fact, check your local youtube.)

Item 7: work (yeah, how exciting) getting busy at work which gives me emotional cover for feeling stress (see item #4)

Item 8:  the Wakefield Doctrine (cited specifically in Number 4 and in general in Number 9)

Item 9: as an off-shoot of Item 8,   ‘the Wakefield Doctrine presents: the Fabulous Bloggers Friday Night vidchat, with your hosts Lizzi Rogers and Michelle.  Very cool concept!  and, the ‘party’ itself is evolving. (If I sound a little surprised at this development of how each Friday is different, attribute it to my lack of direct experience with social gatherings and parties and such growing up. In a word: no two vidchats have been the same, not only do the people who participate vary, from week to week, but the… lets see if I can find a word that will totally establish my party-animal cred…. I know!!   the tenor of the gathering varies each week…. (partae!!)  especially last night’s pre-party discussion with Jean and zoe… I very enjoyed that, thanks!

Item 10: hey, here’s something odd. and not, technically a gratitude item, except obliquely, …as I often am.  There’s this blog trying to do a collaborative story writing thing…. while I won’t mention any names ( to protect the non-rogerian),  go to:  the Secessionist Rag  and scroll down to Chapter 1 and read upwards…  Chapter 11 is where you will find the collaborator joining in on the story, (provided a certain level of proficiency in the Wakefield Doctrine, it is possible to infer the worldview of a person on the basis of their writings. if yo have the time to get over, come back and let us know what you think. honor system… both participants are on the Doctrine blogroll, but the blog is laid out such that you won’t easily know who is writing it.)

Gooo!!!  Rolling Indiana-ians!!! Avenge your fallen Champion…. (yes, I will include a musically appropriate vid at the bottom of this Post).  Get better soon..

Ten Things of Thankful

 Your hosts

* Courtesy of BoSR (aka SBoR) Chap 5.9 you can claim gratitude of an item/activity/feeling/relationship that you know will not last, provided that a benefit/consequence/offshoot/or progeny retained after the dis-gratitudinization of same thing-in-your-life has occurred. ex: ‘I love this kid, it’s incredible that his father was such a bastard.’  like that

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. The weather is definitely getting better and supposed to be high seventies here today, but of course mixed with rain, but still I will take it as long as the word polar isn’t included! But seriously all good things this week and love that you are running and that work is going good, too. Have a wonderful weekend now, as well :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Janine

totally with you on the matter of climate and temperature and non-polar forecasts!

(nice score on the FRIST! Jean is a fearsome competorinae!)

  2. And yes I got first!!! ;)

  3. Janineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee GAH! WELL, OK. as long as it is YOU!

  4. I love that you are running as well, but now that I have a vested interest in you (whatever the heck that is) I want you to be very careful, as if you were one of my sons. BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN YOU DRIVE and I think you need a reminder to “get out of your head” and stop thinking (if possible…see I do understand) and be watchful. Also, I was delighted to see you guys last night. Jim was there too…but he was FAST ASLEEP. Believe it or not, the TV was on as well! But I was watching you guys intently as I learn so much about you and love you guys so much! xox jean

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Jean

loved the pre-vidchat chat, as to the head thing…lol always good to have goal (the ‘stop thinking’ is something that a lot of us (clarks) aspire to, and seeing it in scotts is very helpful to simply act is very cool (and is the source of much of the power of a scott)

  5. I think you could have used that beautiful creature for 7 more things. She must be a wonderful companion. Enjoy your week and your morning runs!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Jen

Una is, however, (as you saw in the vid) except for 2 light brown spots above the eyes, she is totally black, which is cool except: ‘honey? where’s the dog?’ ‘right behind you on the couch.’*

*our living room couch is a very dark red leather, closer to maroon, all of which I will add to explain how bad my eye sight has become!lol

  6. Kristi says:

You are running now? (I seem to remember past comments of yours indicating some aversion to running.) I’ll make a stereotypical rogerian comment: Welcome to the club!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

Thank you… for the (rogerian) expression of simpatico … (and despite our propensity for down-playing our efforts) I will say… lets put an asterix on the word ‘running’ (or, at very least, use italics lol)
I am a long way from ‘running’ running…. For the moment I am very much still in the: ‘start-with-a-foreright-determined-gait’ (followed by a) ‘hey-this-is-not-bad-no-one-is-calling-911’ (inevitably there is a period of) ‘ruunn-clark-ruun!’ and then the ‘ok-the-oxygen-must-be-here-somewhere-maybe-further-down-the-street’ lol)
in a departure from the more common clarklike approach of ‘if it’s worth doing, it’s worth over-doing’… I have sent a course/path and each day (taking weekends off) I set out at 6am and take note of the time when I get back in the house. (currently 30 minutes… distance about maybe a couple of miles)… how much of that is running versus walking has not, to my happy surprise, is not critical to my actually leaving the house…. to be cont’d.

      • jny_jeanpretty says:

        ahahahahahahaha!!!

      • Kristi says:

I’m a runner in the same asterix/italics/quotations marks way. No one would ever confuse me with a gazelle. Covering distance on foot, no matter at what velocity, is worth celebrating.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          Kristi

encouraging to hear… to paraphrase/borrow from Douglas Adams, (for me) ‘running is falling forward without hitting the ground’

          • Kristi says:

Hitchhiker’s Guide? I don’t remember that line, but it sounds like something he would say. The line I remember was something to the effect of “it hovered in the air, much the way a brick doesn’t.”

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

              Kristi

the line I was thinking of was (the fabulously zen): ‘the secret to flying is to throw yourself at the ground, and miss’

  7. Denise says:

Ah. The most excellent Lizzy and Halestorm. scotts anyone? lol

I’ve no doubt that our Christine is Queen of the underground roller derby circuit:)

Huge, huge, huge. The understanding thing and clarks. It’s a pain in the ass sometimes.
As a kid it drove me nuts when one of my parents would tell me to do something and when I asked why? was told “because I said so”. No dammit! Not good enough! I needed (yes, “needed”) to know the reason why. *sigh* As an adult familiar with the Doctrine, I now understand the reason why….I need to know why…

P.S. JeanGirl! I missed you again last night at the vid chat! Next time!!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yes… we are about understanding and learning and such… it’s what the world is (for us)…. Christine (and now Jean) are very welcome additions to this thing… we know what a scott is and what they are like and how they act and even how they will act in virtually any situation… but nothing like the real thing, non?

  8. zoe says:

Two min vid of dog at 10mph….I bet everyone watched the whole thing viral or not!

Do intend to run like you “walk”?

I had a good time chatting as well….you probably shouldnt encourage my overly inquisitive clark because my doubts coupled with my secondary roger can make me relentless…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      zoe

so far so go (see reply to Kristi)… I will encourage and/or provoke your inquisitive side because the resulting contest is good for me (and the Doctrine in it’s development). To quote Tony Montana in ‘Scarface’, “it was fun”

(good thing clarks don’t have major league egos, huh? lol…. actually in the old days, I would have had to hint at the sarcasm…in that, but nowadays… I need to stay on my toes)… definitely appreciate it.

  9. lrconsiderer says:

I like your version of ‘going for a walk’. And the running is good. But the stress is not.

Huzzah for VidChat and the inverse thankful that Christine now has time to TALK because of not chasing those kids and critters and all :D SILVER LININGS!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lizzi

thats right! (Christine’s increased stationary time ratio)… yeah stress do suck

  10. jamie says:

My computer didn’t like loaded the video. Says it crashed. Pooh. And keep up with the exercise. I have to do something everyday or I’ll be even more crazy that I am.

  11. I should read your posts earlier in the day.. After 11, my brain is just not what it should be any more. But yay for running! Starting out with 30 minutes is awesome!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Stephanie

…will be interesting (when I get past the novelty and I start to thing, ‘why not 20 minutes?!) … the key(for me) is that it is a simple path, no variations…as long as I leave the house, I will complete the exercise 30 minutes or 2 hours… might work out.

  12. Christine says:

Hahahahahaha! That is exactly what a run is like when I give it a try. Once a year or so. :)

  13. Christine says:

    Now, to my real comment…
Thank you for the anti-grat. Good to know people are sending get well wishes. And how I wish I could say my injury was from my roller derby race. (Awesome song and idea!) Alas, my derby days have to take a break thanks to soccer with the kids.
And lastly, I cannot believe you have taken up (trying to) running. Do the guardvirgins have anything to do with this?

  14. Glad to be in on the Thankful this week, Clark. And my favorites on this list are Items number 1,2 & 3.

  15. Sarah says:

Well, I’ll tell you what, I’d love an explanation for a whole lotta shit going on, but I’m gonna try not to fall into the “Why me?” pit of despair.
Good for you and your exercising. I tend to be a sporadicly passionate exerciser myself. And I am not in one of my passions at present.

  16. dyannedillon says:

Am I in your spam folder again? I know I commented on this post….

  17. Kristi Campbell - findingninee says:

A dog for a co-pilot is perfect and I laughed out loud at an American style walk being a car ride. awesome. :D
