Saturday TToT List #18 someday we will all look back… wait a minute! you already are! the Wakefield Doctrine (we’re grateful to be allowed to talk to you frickin normal people)

Welcome to the Weekly Proof of Concept (for) the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

ola.sept4jpg

Today is Saturday. I feel good that I am one of the co-hosts of this here bloghop1 here,  the Ten Things of Thankful, (aka TToT)

Before anyone starts thinking, ‘oh oh, what’s our favorite clark up to this weekend’, allow me to say, “without all of you, Readers, co-hosts, random website landing-on-ers, various non-sentient search engine programs, and Christine… I will say thank you”. This weekly exercise2 does a body good. At the very real risk of appearing selfish and self-centered, I will say, “thanks for letting me come to this place and write and try out my Wakefield Doctrine.

1) Physically: this week has been… alright.  (that’s ‘all right’, not alright!!! ) The physical side (of life) is funny for clarks… we know it’s important to be in good health. We also recognise the role that our physical selfs play in our lives and our pleasure and the satisfactions that… see?  you think it’s easy writing a gratitude list when you can describe yourself like that?  come on!  it is not (and in answer to your thought, Dyanne.… yes I know that Lizzi does quite well and she is a (self-identified) clark… but there is a certain degree of gender bias on the side of the emotional, in most cultures.)

2) Emotionally: this week… sorta roller coasterish  most of the week. hell, that applies to most of my life. But!!  (…to the Reader thinking, “hah! so much for the non-emotional characteristics of the clark worldview! you just said you had an active week, emotionally! lets see you get out of this one…” (we got that bastard now!)). You’re right. I am caught. But the thing about the clarklike worldview and emotions is simply that it is not that we don’t have emotions, but we think about them as things we have… sort of as if Christine and I were to meet and she said, “hey! let me give you a hug!” my response would very likely be, “well alright, if you think that’s ok”   ….see?

3) Great Video Brunch last week!  Glad most of you missed it!

4) (yes, Lizzi, I am padding to a certain extent)… but I am serious. It was great but totally rough around the edges, major learning curve.  Here’s how it went. The start time was traditionally …. flexible (we try to plan on an exact time and it rarely ever works out that way)… so when I finally sign in (around 9:30 am EDT) Michelle is already on and….and!  we see what appears to be a train car (turns out it was a subway car)…. cause she had her iPad with her and was bringing us live footage from her home town! Later that morning I tried my own ‘live remote’ from Wakefield  but I lost signal a couple of times and then we lost Denise and Considerer… but Michelle stayed on and I got to show her the Pt Judith Lighthouse and the Block Island Ferry and and number of local sights. So… (back to my secret ego) when you are able to join us on a Video Brunch we should have our act together. Everyone is invited, except for….

5) I am grateful, for a variety of reasons, for becoming more comfortable with some of the traits that I have been accused of having, the reasons (for becoming more comfortable) include but not limited to: denial, wishing I were different, hoping that if I learn what all of you real people obviously know, I will be a real person and not be the Outsider…

6) Very good Wakefield Doctrine Saturday Night Drive Call in… Cyndi called in and she always has so much energy and positivity and gets the Doctrine and is trying to see how it can aid her in different things… anyway, zoe!!  the number to call for the Saturday Night Drive….. is 218-339-0422   there is a woman’s voice that comes on to welcome you…and invite you to enter the access number  512103 (followed by ‘the pound sign’) #  and there we will be!  between 8:00 pm and 8:45 pm EDT…

7) hey!  I just noticed!  I’m always suggesting nicknames and anagrams (lol… a joke about rogers there) like ‘the TToT’, but I never do it here at the Doctrine!! What the hell!!  what the hell do I think I’m trying to pull?!!

8) My efforts to develop a skill at the writing and such…. I am grateful that I get to hang out with people what got their stuff in an actual book and such… I will not name names, for fear of leaving someone out…

9) Screw that!  Hey Kristi!!  congrats…. you too Janine!  way to go and as soon as I can get myself to a skill level higher than JR High School, the first thing I’m gonna do is turn frickin green with envy!!  Yeah !! totally not fair

10) Everyone on the other side of the screen should now be shouting…. ” Hey!!! Listen!! Grateful for you’re getting to Number 10!!! Yay… did good!!! way to go clark!!! that’s the best “Completed and no mare items needed…!!! List we have ever read! go..o!!! Wakefield Doctrine!!! (no, seriously,  go, please go to work and stop this list! our collective head is hurting)

I would like to leave a little music video… nothing important or reflective of today’s Post. Just that often, when I gots nothing to write, I’ll go out and wander around the internets. Like today, I started with youtube, finding a cover of an old song by The Animals, ‘House of the Rising Sun’ and listened to that and then found myself listening to traditional blues, then acoustic music then came across this video, which I enjoy because it allows us to see how the Wakefield Doctrine works, i.e. those familiar with Jimi Hendrix usually have the very flamboyant stage performance in their memories (you know, burning his guitar at Monterey) but, the fact is, the guy was a clark. And the beginning of this vid makes that abundantly clear… (Hint: look at the eyes).

Anyway, a little “…get off that damn computer and get to work, Clark!! they ain’t paying you to write” (not yet…)  lol

ok try it here:

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

So I went to breakfast this morning with a friend I haven’t seen in some time and much unlike her she was complaining about her job. This woman never complains about work. She’s really outstanding at what she does and manages to just kind of look over other peoples foibles, but she was describing this woman she works with who seems to be a bit of an emotional carnivore. And I found myself explaining the doctrine to her. And saying ” what a freaking scott! it’s usually the Rogers that p*** me off!” You would have been so proud.

      zoe

I am! you so need to call us tonight on the Saturday Night Drive!

(can’t wait to hear everything about your conversation!)

      • zoe says:

Dammit I fell asleep on a friends sofa… no one woke me up (she says as if it were not her own damn fault) … I am such a wild woman on a big night out! I just woke up to a bit of a convo with our buddy Lizzi! This is getting a bit crazy on my part… I am committed to next sat… my kiddo is coming the next day (from your neck o the woods btw) so I will be awake preparing a lovely first year anniversary surprise for he and his wife…’NO reason to miss it!!!! And don’t go giving me absolution… with “its ok…” I don’t deserve it! I can be such a freaking ___________ fill in the blank (clark, roger, scott)…. ok ranting done!!! =/

        • zoe says:

BTW… I do so love your list this week… Its always a laugh out loud experience for me but after another entry of yours this week I find #5 particularly lovely ( she said as if she were not a clark… perhaps that’s the rogerian twist talking?)…

  2. Zoe says:

    Oooo first comment?!

  3. Zoe says:

    oddly yes.

  4. Clark, with this Doctrine, and us, you are very much an insider! Have a great weekend yo!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Michelle

thank you for that.. I appreciate your saying so (hey! only 9 more for tomorrow’s Post!)
      don’t forget Sunday brunch…

  5. “Look Daddy, I’m a REAL boy!”

But, wasn’t he loved by Gepetto all along?

And the ‘physical’ side of things, and the physical making the rest okay (or alright, or all right, as the fancy takes you) and the emotional side of the where now?

Cos sometimes, even the self-professed get lost.

But this didn’t seem to be about even my pole-dancing, so I’m not sure why I got the nod there…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lizzi

it’s about Clark and clarks, no? (with the scottian secondary aspect catching me distracted and whistling at a couple of scottian chosts that will remain nameless to protect the innocent…wwait a minute, that just word crashed… scotts and innocence?

      lol as if

(that is said with the utmost of respect and secret desire)

  6. Me? Energy? No. Not me. Not ever. ;)
My voice is back…a little. If it’s all the way back tonight I’ll try to call in. :)
As far as TToT – you’d think I’d have time being holed up on the couch, but, alas…I’m trying to finish five pages of a paper (between naps), write a blog post for school, write one for Lifehack…sigh…hahaha
Have a great weekend if I literally can’t talk to ya.

  7. Clark so clever you are. I simply cannot stop playing this video! LOL

  8. Finally getting to check in tonight after a long, but successful Saturday with the family. Thank you for the shout out and still not sure it is really sinking in yet. I went to get a haircut yesterday with my cousin, who made me tell her the whole tale of how I got to be published. At the end, she told me she thought she would be seeing me on Ellen or something. I totally don’t think so, but nice someone would even think that. But seriously just happy that anyone would want to include me in their book. That said hoping the weekend is treating you well and love getting to catch up with you here on the weekend :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Janine

it has to be very …satisfying (besides exciting)…to have you words affect people ‘at a distance’… rippling out there… very cool

yeah, these weekends are hectic but fun to catch up with people, especially now that Saturday is over and Sunday is a mostly day off… have a good weekend!

  9. Kristi says:

#5 is wonderful. I think that so many people have those same feelings.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

(one of things I like about you chosts… you get stuff (that I write) that I think no one will get) catch up with everyone tomorrow…. join us on the brunch if you get a chance!

  10. Love the video…nothing like al little Hendrix on a Saturday night.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I totally agree. I also really enjoy seeing Hendrix on a different level from the normal… on stage in full persona

  11. christine says:

You do know, though, I wouldn’t actually ask permission to give you a hug. If we ever meet in real life, I’m just gonna hug ya. :)

Not only did you actually do a numbered list this week, this post seemed to have much more of a “deep thinking” feel to it than most posts you write. Letting us see a little more of your personal side this week. #5 especially had me intrigued. And a sidenote…we don’t always “know”. Sometimes, we just pretend like we do.
And as for your and Lizzi’s conversation, I am nothing if not the epitome of innocence. ;)

  12. Soooo, Spock is a Clark. (The Vulcan, not the pediatrician.)

  13. Hope this week is less of a roller coaster with more highs than lows. Your brunches sound fun. Aren’t blog friends the best?!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kate

you should join us one Sunday! We had zoe phone is (briefly) this morning… the potential for this being fun is semi-huge

  14. mamarific says:

Very clever list, and I love Hendrix, too! Thanks for having me at your fun link-up.

  15. outoneear says:

Thanks for dropping by Out One Ear, reading and leaving a note. Your post cracked me up. I especially liked the last line: they ain’t paying you to write” (not yet…). I keep hoping for that to change. But it might be awhile.

Also liked: 5) I am grateful, for a variety of reasons, for becoming more comfortable with some of the traits that I have been accused of having, the reasons (for becoming more comfortable) include but not limited to: denial, wishing I were different, hoping that if I learn what all of you real people obviously know, I will be a real person and not be the Outsider…

Glad to have stopped by and had the chance to read. You are not the Outsider. :-)

  16. And what is it when we actually MAKE ourselves the Outsider by being too completely overwhelmed to even participate in TToT until the last possible minute which means all of the conversations are basically done and that, because of it, we actually become the Outsider? Crap.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

that is not making ourselves the Outsider, it’s keeping our professional status! lol

Thank you for the situation as an example for illustration purposes! The rule to apply in this example is (the) ‘everyone does everything at one time or another’, which means to a take a problem or an occurrence or a hobby and imagine how each of the three personality types would….as we say, ‘manifest’ this. I dare say we will all recognize that a clark will perceive the situation (managing to be late) differently than would a scott or a roger.
