‘…the songs! where are the s.s..songs?’ the Wakefield Doctrine it’s Tuesday, it’s Twisted, but is it a MixTape?

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

polaroid

There have been weeks when the songs, (in my head), build up in the days preceding Tuesday1, the snatches of melody gather in my head, like overly affectionate parrots on a senile pirate’s shoulder. Today, it is Tuesday2  and unfortunately this has not been  one of those weeks. Now this is not to say that the ‘theme’, for today’s TMT is not valid or memorable or …suggestive. It is, they are, we could be…

I just can’t get the songs to sample in my head! My approach to Jen and Kristi’s totally fun bloghop is simply to find one song that seems to say: (“insert theme here”) then get out to ‘the youtube’ for a video. So far, not long after I find the first song, the rest show up.  But today… but everything has the feeling of either déjà vu or déjà entendu.

But, the show must go on!3

No Strings Attached

You know those musicians. It’s a seedy business. I mean, come on, Fleetwood Mac? Whom wasn’t with whom at some point. I think every single musician has written some song about an actual, or imagined, or desired night, or weekend or lifetime of a relationship with no strings attached. And so, without furtherness down this path that could cause trouble so I’ll just spin the tunes.

(Post-start Note: I feel that I can state, finally, that I appreciate how the force of habit can good for something more than:  refusing to lose weight, finding old friends interesting and/or staying in a relationship with sexually proficient partners. Here are some songs. I hope you find them enjoyable. I trust that my Summer cold/writers block will have resolved itself by next Monday.)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. I love Walk on the Wild Side. One of the things I enjoy so much about everybody’s posts each week is that I find new songs that I love and that I am reminded of old songs that I used to love – which, this week, I’m thankful for Lou Reed! Yay YOU thank you.
Is it a Clark thing that we have “overly affectionate parrots on a senile pirate’s shoulder*?” because I have that, too.
Sorry to hear that you have a summer cold. But I can’t see writer’s block at all!
    *my favorite line today

      thanks Kristi

this hop is always fun, exposing us, as it does to a bunch of music familiar and otherwise… but you right, there is nothing bad about Lou lol

  2. Jen says:

OH MY GOSH! Do you know that the most played Pandora mix in my house is the Hot Rod Lincoln mix. And do you know how many different versions of that song there are? THERE ARE SO MANY IT’S LIKE A MILLION! My son loves it, because he wants to drive a Lincoln really fast someday. So thanks for that song.
I think the list of songs is great, I don’t know why you are troubled, you just need to get better and then you will see that you don’t really have writers block you have stuffy head block.
Also you’re funny even when your sick.
Thanks for always playing. And for my friend and yours Jimi.

  3. Hmmmm….I think I need some serious education on music because I don’t know any of these songs! Oh well…I guess I’m from the Backstreet Boys / Eternal / Roxette phase, lol. Happy Wednesday!

Not too surprising, as, I suspect that you were not even close to being born when these songs came out… getting old is so annoying.! (Actually I have had people suggest that I watch the number of ancient songs that I put on the Doctrine, they’re all, “Hey! come on! the new Readers will think you’re blogging from Happy Bloggers Retirement Village!”)

Thanks btw for participating in the test group for the questions. I have a Post almost ready on that (jobs! they keep getting the way of my blog!)… more to follow!.
