‘Raffle!’ the Wakefield Doctrine ….Ten Things of Thankful (‘…ml’ chorgh ‘) **Afternoon Update**

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

CaveDog3

dogs,nice car, comfortable office,warm weather, friends in blogosphere, a following of supportive but challenging Readers of the Doctrine, the potential to self-develop through the application of the Doctrine, Video Brunches with fun,fascinating people, to wit: considerer,michelle,cyndi,denise,michelle and Roger Coyne...as the roger.

ok, ten things?  ✔; thankful for each? ✔; ready for the passing on of the the Semper Award? ✔  totally grateful for finding trés cool check off thingie and wanting to show it off to everyone? ✔ still writing list of things that you are grateful for this week and hoping that you will come up with something clever to transition into the Post? ✔ …still typing desperately? ✔

These Awards things. Love ’em….. fear ’em.  The first is obvious, the second not so much. As Lizzi1 alludes to, clarks have a certain …difficulty with matters emotional. This is not to say that we are not emotional or we are un-emotional, that is not the case. If anything, we are quite emotional, as much because of our peculiar relationship with our (individual) emotional aspects. But enough of that! This is about them not me!2

If you are a new Reader, read this: this is a weekend bloghop in the truest sense of the word.  This bloghop sort of becomes like the main street of a small town, there are stores and shops and coffee houses and bars and everything in-between on the street. sometimes you feel like exchanging ideas, so you stop in the coffee shop and maybe run into Joy or Cyndi or perhaps you feel the need to talk to someone who is a good listener, so you run into Christine, or Janine  …other times you’re in the mood for a little more of the ‘wild side’ (yes, I’m looking at you Kristi and Rich and Dyanne) so you check out the bars. you will find different people at different places at different times, and yes, it is entirely appropriate to Comment on another person’s Comments thread if you want to.

Semper Fidelis Award:

  1. Jak  Jak..Jak…Jak    I’ve only known Jak a short time. Some people, when they write a Comment, put so much of…(don’t want to say ‘themselves’… ‘heart’ would be corny)… ‘their voice’. Yeah, I can live with that…his voice. We all try for it when we start to write a blog, that quality of writing that makes your thoughts identifiable to the Reader. You know who you are reading before you even see who’s name is at the bottom of the Comment.
  2. Michelle Liew  now here is a person that makes me think, “damn  I get to hangout with people who write stores and poetry and everything else. How cool is that?” Michelle is a docTee wearing Friend of the Doctrine  and….and! one of the inaugural participants in the Wakefield Doctrine Video brunches… very nice.
  3. Cyndi   Well, duh!   lol  Cyndi (along with our host) is the leader(s) of the 4th generation of the Doctrine. ‘Quick-study’ is a totally inadequate term. Cyndi read the Doctrine, learned the principles and proceeded to extrapolate from there!  (You know those child geniuseses who learn algebra and then re-invent calculus ’cause it’s the logical next step?  We’re very grateful for Cyndi’s enthusiasm and contributions to furthering the development of the Wakefield Doctrine, ya know?
  4. (the Progenitor) roger  he’s the damn progenitor…scary father figure to the worlds: engineers, accountants, cytologists, insanely proficient musicians, Judges,  plumbers and every movie that employs black and white footage and a sonorous voice-over expressing the feelings of family members …ever made.
  5. Janine  if I could  (with a time machine) go back and actually go to my high school prom… Janine would totally be my choice (hey, Kevin…literary license here.) (not that I would have had the nerve to ask her…out-loud, of course…  Janine is one of the first people I met when I joined the BB&G…on the Facebook  and she was there…totally helpful and encouraging… the first Comment on every Post for a long time. ‘Pay my taxes, look to the east in the morning and see a Comment from a friend. nice.

6:12 PM  Saturday.  I just added to the Post… I got a feeling that I have done an awful job with the Award ‘handoff’  but I do appreciate the fact that I do get to name people for an Award such as Lizzi has conferred on me.

I will give proof to my contention that this blog hop is unique among the blog hops, (you know, the thing I said about it being a conversation… you remember, right? ( like you needed more proof that I was a clark, right?), well I am invoking that  privilege and will come back to complete this here Award here…)

Ten Things of Thankful
 Your hosts

* I believe if you look, you will see me misspelling our Founding Bloggerae’s damn name in a couple of places back around TTofT Number 2 or 3… in my defense, I was still adjusting the fact that she had a real name, besides, Considerer which is the name I used, and still tend to use. But hold onto those copies…they’ll be worth something someday

** ha ha Doctrine Readers will find this amusing

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. Considerer says:

    I can totally see all of those people in all of those places on the high street…am wondering where I’d be. Probably the library, wishing I was in the bar…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      nah… you would have gotten the freshman doing her term paper and said, “psst yeah, you I know exactly what your Professor likes to see in a paper, guaranteed ‘A’… I just need you to sit here in my cubicle for an hour (…or two) oh yeah! one more thing… put this hat on, and my coat! don’t talk to anyone until I get back!”

  2. So I’m hanging out in the bar with Rich and Dyanne. I’m cool with that, and think I may have placed us all in the same spots you chose as well. And I had no idea that the Real Roger had a blog. Must check it out (or maybe not…hmmm…yes, I think I’ll take a peek). Your check thingie is cool, dude. And yeah, those awards. I have a list of them that I’ve not acknowledged. I’m sure the people who gave them to me think I’m an ass by now.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Kristi

      …the thing of it is, if this were real, I would walk by the bar, look in (the door’s open cause it’s cooled off for the evening, it’s that kind of bar) and if I caught your eye, there would have been recognition, split-second but there for as long as the people around you were distracted… you would have smiled with a certain…. (damn there’s a cool word somewhere… insouciance but with humor) and I would have looked behind myself real quick and returned the ‘clark smile’* And I would have made a mental note to head back… just walk by again (but I would have to continue walking, otherwise I would be committing myself to saying hello…) lol

      Our Host, Considerer, never ceases to impress me… she added Rule 6 that says we can have fun with the Awards and not make a job out of it** How cool is that?

      *primary characteristic of clarks…the smiles is pretty much the lips pressed together…maybe a slight up turn at the edge of the mouth…nothing you could prove in court, of course and a look of recognition
      ** which is a damn good thing, seeing what a bang-up job I did with my nominees…lol

  3. The description of the Clark recognition smile is awesome and has me smiling for real! Yes, very very cool of Lizzi to not make a big job of the award thing. The times I have acknowledged them on my blog, I do it however I want anyway. Like once, I took their list of questions and only answered one.
    Re ** ha. haha.

  4. I just noticed you added a bunch of stuff to your totally lacking list of nominees before. Was it the crippling guilt or just saturday boredom?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Kristi

      lol crippling guilt! no! wait a minute, you are advanced in this here Doctrine here, so lets try this* So, as to those awards, part of my motivation is simply what everyone else does, which is follow the rules and participate and such… but there is a state (within) that may be akin to guilt is far more…. something, it’s not a good thing we do to ourselves but it is related to the fear that is on or near or not-very-far-from nearly everything we clarks do.

      What is this not-really-guilt state that I speak of…

      *not a test, if for no other reason than only clarks will understand this for what it is, a semi-challenge, which for a clark means: to applaud the correct and not care about an incorrect response.

  5. Considerer says:

    Cool, but still in the damn library…

    Or wandering the streets with no-where to go, knowing that a pleb’s doing my work for me while I bunk off.

    Do have fun with the award – that’s what they’re for. Can’t be doing to take them too seriously.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      ..actually you were getting her to wear your hat and coat, just to make it appear that you are still hard at study, instead of heading to meet up with Kristi to see what kind of trouble you can create on short notice!

  6. zoe says:

    I really don’t know anyone here well enough but Im not above hanging out in a bar with just about anyone! HA!

  7. Lizzi, you know you’ve got a flask hidden in your book bag at the library and are just WAITING to slip out and meet up with the cool cats at the bar!

    I love our little town, Clark! I think I see you stopping in the barber shop, listening to all the scuttlebutt.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      http://iwantbacksies.blogspot.com/

      …as I would expect given the people involved. You know how people talk about playing chess without a board and how amazing it is that they can keep the moves in their heads? piffle!* this weekend thing is way cooler dan dat!
      And when Lizzi gets there, it will take her a while to leave the old Considerer back at the library, but when she does, yow! even Kristi will be impressed

      *yes, you read that correctly

  8. Considerer says:

    Oh I DEFINITELY want to hang out with Zoe.

    And I’ll try not to get too freaked out at my own awesomeness of blagging the body double so I can bunk off. What a terribly good idea (only I’d be crippled with anxiety that she won’t do as well on the paper as I would – I am an academic snob after all)

    Kristi – what trouble shall we get you into? I can see an older (but clearly quite handsome in his day dude watching from the corner of his eye – bet you could get him to blush…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      (but that is, of course, one of the many purposes of the Wakefield Doctrine!…both the guilt and the snobbery lol)

      I’m agreeing with you on that Zoe chick… I’ve seen the flashes of lightening in the eyes of a clarklike female… you have to look past the: a)distant gaze, b)the challenging stare, c)the laughing look, d) the ‘damn-do-I-dare-set-this-loose’ light in her eyes… all in the split micro-second that is all you have before she makes her decision

      Kristi, now there is someone quite capable of finding trouble and agile enough to get out of it. …and based on the little time I have know Dyanne, the two of them walk into a bar together? the bartender will simply dial 9-1-1 and serve drinks with the phone in one hand (thumb resting lightly on ‘Send’) lol

  9. A little late to the party! These bloggers are all amazing…….and I’m thankful to hang out with you too, Clark!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Michelle

      …I will admit (don’t tell anyone!) I am at times in awe of this bunch of ridiculously talented mutants! lol

      … you being among them, still working on your puzzle post!

  10. Oh clark, you just totally put a smile on my face this morning. Seriously I consider you such a wonderful friend and that you for that so very much. And on the prom, I would have loved to have gone with you, because who I ended up with at my own prom actually cheated on me with my best friend. Long story short that relationship ended very quickly. Seriously, hope you are enjoying your weekend and thank you again :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Janine

      ayiiee! (good call on the common experience, clark…could’ve gone with college or friends wedding…but no! just had to go for the easy one lol)

      well, as should come as no surprise, I did not go to my High School prom (hey, some express some surprise!! it’s not like I was totally-inept socially speaking. wait a minute!! according to this I guess I was lol) well it would have been interesting! (“Janine!! there is someone at the door. I think he is saying he’s here to pick you up…but I can’t understand him…he seems to be talking into the corsage. I think we need to have a talk, missy!”)

      this TTofT is getting to be fun!

  11. Considerer says:

    Time to put on a pair of ‘lying-down shoes’ and head for the bar to join the fracas

    (you’re on the money with Dyanne…)

    Janine – OUCH! That sucks. Glad I never went to mine.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      did I hear someone say Video Brunch??! at the Facebook?

      someone call Michelle tell her to switch to coffee! lol

      lol yeah I liked Dyanne from the first time she showed up here (“What the hell is going on back there? I am trying to present a serious personality theory alternative in the dignified manner befitting it! what do you mean she says, ‘she don’t need no fricken proof of prerequisites’? somebody call Security!”)

  12. Kristi says:

    Though I don’t say it every week, dogs are right up there on my list, too. They are friendly, goofy, intelligent, and loyal.

    And though I’m not sure what your definition of “nice car” is, I’m sure appreciating the recently repaired a/c in my minivan.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Kristi

      lol… I think that a/c and not having to worry that the engine will stop and not start (at a light) works for me as a baseline for the term ‘nice car’. Having had many cars over the years, of all shapes, sizes and condition(s) I have always appreciated the simple basics.

  13. That checkoff thing is indeed cool!

    What are you doing during a video brunch? It sounds awesome but I guess I would be too shy…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Joy

      this will be the perfect time to join us! for a very simple reason… we (Considerer, Michelle, Cyndi and Denise (and Melanie who almost joined us) are all still getting comfortable with the whole video format…(you can ask Michelle or Considerer about my …trials and tribulations getting the google+ hangout feature to work as expected. so we’re all still very much in that stage.
      otherwise we talk about the Doctrine ( of course lol) and other stuff..it’s just that realtime conversations are so much more… something than chatting and typing and such.

      It seems like the weekends are the best times, we try to adjust for the times zones Lizzi is 5 hours ahead of me, Michelle is 12 hours so that last time we did a Sunday at 12 (my time) which kept it from being too middle of supper for Considerer and not too late for Michelle.

      Will no doubt do one next weekend… will be posting the time (you will need to get the google+ and the Hangout plugin… not the most user friendly things to install but once in they work pretty good.) Hope you can join us… what is your time differential (from EDT)?

  14. Considerer says:

    Totes just noticed that Dyanne invited me to the bar waaaaaay back. Huzzah *grabs shoes*

    Zoe – Your standards seem suitably low – you’ll LOVE me ;)

    Clark – we had beer, Michelle had peanuts…we waited and waited upon your majestic presence and lo’ thou didst not appear unto us. So we had a cuppa and went home again *sigh*

    Did you somehow piss off the Google gods?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      aiiyeee this technology I will master it! next weekend I will be ready… will practice at least once during the week…then we will brunch! Doctrine-style lol

      Zoe! everyone here is…. er exceptional! that is the word I would use. Good to make your acquaintance-hood! Considerer is very well-versed in matter of the Doctrine, do not hesitate to avail yourself of her counsel.

      Dyanne now there is someone that is good to know.

  15. Considerer says:

    Sounds good

    *fixes you with a small stare*

    When were you finishing your acceptance then? ;)

  16. Considerer says:

    *taps foot, arms crossed*

    I stayed up til 5am waiting and you STILL didn’t get it done? Wowzer!

  17. Jak says:

    Running the gauntlet late (and just in time to hit another gauntlet in another day here. Almost Sat!)

    Thank you so much for the nomination! I think that is what just occurred lol I love how just straight forward it’s all laid out :-) It was alluded to in the comments that pieces were edited some to include some kind words I’m guessing for the nominees. I could almost imagine them just listed out and that would be that.

    I’m thankful for your words (though I’m not sure just how justified they may be, at leas tin how I view my ability to get my “voice” actively present through the written word, but I try?) Also, congratulations on receiving the award!

    I think your assessment is spot on with the “wild” ones, as far as I can tell. Each night at the bar is the equivalence of a night in Vegas. What happens with the “wild” ones stays in with the “wild” ones. Except they all too readily blurt out all their exploits! Which is good for all us followers :-)

    Hope you had a great week and, again, thank you so much for the nomination! One of these years I will be on time to the show!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jak

      You are welcome. Yeah, the voice thing is cool, an accomplishment, weird how, besides the little idiosyncratic things (we all try to find*) the writing of a blog is such a personal effort meant for a very non-personal audience. Or something like that.
      Well, you’re right, it is the week’s end which means I have FTSF and TToT, which I totally look forward to, but am always falling behind in…writing…the blog, for.

      see you in Town** on the weekend

      * maybe we don’t all try to find, I probably should say, ‘that I am always trying to find’
      ** the increasingly ‘real’ construct that is appearing on the weekend at the TToT…don’t think anyone has come up with a name yet

      • Jak says:

        I haven’t forgotten about this, but it always takes me a while for these types of postings. Trying to explain it may take me time to do anything is beginning to sounds redundant lol

        Catch you this next TToT.
