Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers). Today is Sunday and some of us are wondering where the Clark has been. Not to worry! GirlieOnTheEdge is here! (…no pressure now dumb ass LOL) Today is Sunday so let’s stick to tradition and share some highlights from the Saturday Night Call In Show. Since I was the last minute stand in host, I’m gonna take a stab at it.
In a word, last night’s Call In Show was great! The reason? A new caller. Before I get into the particulars let me get all rogerian on you and tell you how I feel today and what it was I felt last night. First: if anyone out there doesn’t know me, I am a clarklike female. Second: it was a last minute substitution, hosting. As a clark, I was somewhat dreading having to be in the spotlight. Not that I don’t enjoy participating but it’s the being the potential focal point that gives me that little stomach ache. I was nervous but not. Guess I was tasting the fear of the unknown. I swallowed hard, shook it off and thought “hell,we haven’t had a new caller in a while how hard can this be?”
Imagine my surprise when Cnydi of Pictmilitude fame was the first caller. Damn! I didn’t open with the customary “Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine Saturday Night Drive in Show”. I forgot! I simply said “Hi. Cyndi. It’s Denise.” (idiot! she doesn’t know who Denise is! and that’s when my voice went all red) I promise to attend guest hosting 101 classes immediately! (Note to self: work on the stupid self-conscious thing!!) Nevertheless, I enjoyed the call and I’m thinking Cyndi did as well. Knowing Cyndi was a clark definately took the edge off. Here’s what we kinda/sorta touched on Doctrine wise:
As clarks we acknowledged our roles as the “listeners” of the 3 personality types. Our ears are the unloading docks for just about everybody. Despite being accused of “never listening” (mostly by rogers), we established that clarks are capable of listening sideways.
scotts can be scary but don’t have to be (excluding the ones in the military, then you’d better run) if you stick to the point and keep it short and simple. Otherwise they’ll wander off and you’ll never find them.
rogers are the most populous of the 3 personality types It’s not always easy to distunguish the strong rogers from the scotts so be on the lookout for the emotional aspect of the interaction. rogers have a propensity for keeping the focus on themselves conversationally.
In conclusion, Cyndi and I agreed the Wakefield Doctrine is extremely helpful and that it’s a most beneficial tool for dealing with/communicating succesfully with the people in our lives. As we say around the Doctrine, if you know how a person is relating to the world, what their worldview is, you already know more about them than they know about themselves!

HA! This is awesome!! It was so nice talking to you, Denise and I was SO delighted that I saw your post here. Fellow clarklike females UNITE! Haha.
Really, though, that was such fun to call in. And no worries about the introductions: the lady-robot voice gave me a whole introduction, not to mention ‘even get a DAMNED hat from the Wakefield Doctrine’ so…I was still cracking up by the time you came on the line.
Awesome conversation and I’ll HAVE to call in next week and give Clark hell! :D
@Cyndi – Thank you! It was great talking to you as well. Unite yes! But could society at large handle a massive number of we like females congregated in one place? LOL
Ah, that lady-robot:) Never again will you say the word “damned” the same. Inflection is everything isn’t it:)
I thought the conversation was great and I look forward to you calling in again next week!!
I have GOT to remember to start listening in! Cyndi – gf – toss me a bone and start reminding me! :)
@Terrye – gf! This is Denise aka DS1 aka GirlieOnTheEdge – we’ll remind you but somehow I don’t think you’d be able to just listen. LOL
I hope you do call in one of these Saturdays. Never a dull moment when scotts show up especially if there’s a coupla rogers for snicky snacks:)
