Welcome to Wakefield Doctrine ( the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers )

There is an old saying,  “the first 2 things you say about a person (or an idea),  are actually  the least important thing and it is, in fact,  the  3rd  thing that you say that  is at the heart of how you feel” (about an idea..or a person).

The Wakefield Doctrine is… a way of classifying personalities,  …it is a tool to understand the behavior of others and …it is a perspective on ourselves and the people in our lives. People we meet here at this blogsite… have questions …are curious (about what we are trying to do) and  … enjoy sharing ways to implement the tool that the Doctrine represents. The driving force behind most  Posts is the need… to produce new content on the subject of the Wakefield Doctrine, …to illustrate ways to derive a direct benefit from the knowledge of the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers and… bringing a life-map to those what are looking for one.

Recently, we have had a Reader, a certain  TonyB  (from over at ‘the BlogCatalog’) ask the question, “What is the Doctrine about?” 
While we always look forward to reading what people say about/ask about the Wakefield Doctrine, this one is the question that causes the greatest concern. You might even say that this particular question is the spiritual opposite of the time-honored semantic trap, ” Tell me, do you still beat your wife/cheat on your husband?”  
After all, the considerable effort to put up this web site and (to) write these Posts and (to) provide information is all in the service of a single idea, i.e. ‘getting as many people in the world to know about the Wakefield Doctrine as possible in the shortest period of time’. So when we have a Reader write (lol) we are excited (happy) and when we read the actual question being asked, we are excited (concerned). The first thing that we thought when reading the question that TonyB (from the Blogcatalog) wrote was, ‘just how badly are we explaining this very simple concept’?  
If, TonyB (from the Blogcatalog), himself a writer of blogs, cannot figure out how the Doctrine works from reading it, what chance does an average person have to understand and enjoy the usefulness and fun that the Wakefield Doctrine offers?

 

(seeing how DownSpring glenn and DS#1 are into the ‘pome thing’, (with all their cutlets and rhyme-schemes and such),   if I may):

 Alright already!  We had better go easy on the artsy stuff or we surely will hear from a roger (or two) and god knows what our newest scottian FOTD (Friend of the Doctrine) Alex will write if he thinks we’re  ‘gettin soft on them Readers…ya gotta make ’em sit up and pay attention!!  ( HEY!!).

‘ello!!   woy if in’t owr  newst fren  Nell!!

All the  Progenitors, DownSprings and FOTD would like you to join us in welcoming our newest hat-wearing Friend, Nell Rose who, as I am sure you inferred from our clever patois, is from England….or London…maybe better to just  make that ‘the UK”

We first met Nell at a writing place called Hub Pages where we maintain a small presence. There we wrote a few articles about the Doctrine (of course) and a couple of stories about Ola and Bella and Una (fun!), but mostly we (are over there) to read and learn about how real blog writers work. Needless to say, it was not very long after arriving and posting some articles, that we ran into Nell.  In retrospect this should come as no surprise, as Nell has written Posts ( they call them ‘Hubs’ over there) on such an incredibly diverse  range of subjects that they had to discover a new letter in the alphabet* to categorize her writing.  Combining  an ‘ease of style’, that totally hooks you from the opening line, along with encyclopedic subject knowledge,  our first thought was, “damn! we have got to get this person to read about the Wakefield Doctrine”. Being the gracious life-form that she is, Nell  read a couple of our ‘Hubs’  about the ole theory of clarks, scotts and rogers and,  well…  we can surely say that Nell took to the Doctrine like…a….well, like a clark!  (Not surprisingly) she immediately ‘got it’, could extrapolate outwards, thought it was fun and (she) resisted the notion of taking a photo of herself with a hat (on her damn head) which, of course, made the choice of hat to send her pretty darn easy!

Nell is also on ‘the Facebook’ too, so next time you are in a totally rogerian mood, in need of  the comforting lowing of the herd….or your scottian aspect is feeling a bit….peckish, go on over and say ‘Hidy’.

(So whats the deal with the preponderance of clarks? Should we be concerned? Where the hell are the scotts and rogers? …alright a few q..q.quick bullet points about the Doctrine then out….)

  • clarks have a ‘creative drive’ that parallels the predatory/hunt instinct of the scotts and the organising/traditionalizing needs of the rogers …
  • clarks believe that they do not want to be the center of attention but will not…(on a level with the need to breathe)… not tolerate being ignored
  • clarks suspect that they are secretly scotts and wish they could be rogers
  • for most clarks, life is a race between living in fear and creating something that puts them beyond the reach (of fear)
  • stick that in your metaphorical, briarwood-smoking, fireplace-sitting, book-writing pipe….roger

( Yes, for Doctrine History buffs, today’s title is funny cause it (used to be ) so true ). To any of our  ‘early Rise ‘n Read’ followers of the Wakefield Doctrine blog, we apologise for the lack of a Friday Video. We expect to rectify the situation momentarily.

We expect to have a video up any moment now… until then, perhaps some mind-teasers!

  • if we are all considered ‘a type’ ( you know, a clark or a scott or a roger ) then what about the other two types, what the hell good are they?
  • (yes, we know that you know) that the other two potential personality types are ‘dormant’
  • Do you think ( no need to answer that clark!! lol)  (no need to answer that scott… the question we just asked you…about thinking?…never mind scott ) yes roger? you have an answer?
  • what if you could switch to any (of the three personality types) which would you choose
  • (yes, we know that answer to the previous question)

…still working on the Video Friday video. We had considered doing a ‘re-run’ but you deserve better than that! (yes, that is an age-based attitude).

Hey a Reader from Germany just clicked on this Old Post   (went back and read it, not bad…certainly an improvement on today’s ‘quote’ content ‘unquote’).  Still working on the vid this ‘re-run’ ain’t much of a substitue, but it’s the best I gots.  (Did you remember to click on the blue link thingie up there?   welll…do not bother going back…click this )

pro ven nonce (noun)  [ from the French provenir, “to come from”]                               1)  Place of origin; derivation;
                              2) The history of the ownership of an object

Short Post today, as we have to put the ‘finishing touches’1 on the material for tomorrow’s Video Friday. In the interest of directness, three questions:

  1. Well, which came first?  the Wakefield Doctrine or the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers ?
  2. (And since we are on the topic),  who the hell is this clark and scott, never mind ‘the roger’?!
  3. (Finally), where are these people now and what is the easiest way to find them in your own circle of people?

( Respected and reliable sources within the Wakefield Doctrine have been advising the use of bullet points in the presentation of facts and ideas associated with the Doctrine. We not going to mention any names  out of respect for the privacy of  Molly and DS#1 and MS AKH!! Discretion and the maintaining of discrete-hood, while important to the roger  so we will not betray any of this to the werld. Hey guys!  your secret advice is safe with me…and no! DS#1  I don’t think that DownSpring glenn is ‘getting a little slow, losing a step’, not in the least. )
So if bullet points is what it takes to get people to Comment, then Bullet Points it is!  ( I couldn’t get the program to let me put bullets under ‘numbered items’ so following are the ‘bulleted answers to the numbered points above!)

  • the (term) Wakefield Doctrine was created (in the hopes of)  imbuing the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers with a little….gravitas   (you know, more rogerian)
  • the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers  came about because there were 3 people who demonstrated the idea that there are three ways for people to perceive the world, three distinctly different, yet overlapping ways of experiencing reality
  • (you didn’t ask but): all three (people)  are still active and above ground, the progenitor roger can be found turning up on these pages at intervals (meant to maximise the ‘where has roger been’ effect); the progenitor scott is less directly active in the day to day Doctrine, devoting his time to several solo projects…the role of scottian advisor has been taken up ensemble by DownSpring glenn and Ms AKH

  • damn!  funny how these things work…am all done with the bullet point gimmick ( hell, since we seem to have ‘finished early’ lets give you Readers your money’s worth, i.e. new information about the Doctrine ) so here goes:

If you are currently at work or at school:   Quick, look around the room!  The first person to look back at you and not pretend they were not (looking back at you) there’s your scott!
         That other person, the one who pretended to not notice your looking around?…clark

Google announces ban on ‘Gag Titles’ for all blog Posts beginning tomorrow! the Wakefield Doctrine renounces ‘all hyperbole, yo’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine ( the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers ).

Seeing how everyone reading this has a firm grasp on the Core Principles1 of the Wakefield Doctrine, we should just proceed to the ‘practical application’ discussion, or as the late Lou Collins would have referred to it as, ‘the beauty part’.

So keep this in mind today. Warning!!  This business of different realities? The following may apply:

  • if you are a clark… yeah, like we’re telling you something you didn’t totally already know
  • if you are a scott… nah, nothing you need worry ’bout  except it might convince you to sit in the back of the break room, a little while after the others have left
  • if you are a roger… you know, you are right! This separate reality thing totally suits you and once the other two gets the message, you will (finally!)  be allowed to get things more…organised!

We are bringing this to our Reader’s attention simply because we are getting more and more feedback, mostly good and some not so good. For example:

Hey! this Doctrine is fuckin great!! tell us again about how them rogers is so lame that they stand around like that and wear hats!!

I read and then I re-read your blog and I am forced to say that it simply does not hold together nor does it make sense. Further when you try to apply it to people, it does not hold together nor does it make sense. I think that you are wrong and should simply accept that you have nothing to say of any value and that your premise is flawed. Keep up the good work :)

Shit. I hate this fuckin job. I hate they way they look at me, you know what I mean!! ( I meant ‘I mean?’) I think that you have a part of a piece of something that is only lacking just a little, but if I could just get a little more mome…memnu….energy I’d fuckin show them…damn!   • all are born with the potential to see the world as a clark or a scott or a roger
  • at an early childhood age, one (of the three) worldview becomes dominant
  • when we say worldview-1, we totally mean it, like the damn reality that each sees is totally real
  • we all retain the capacity to see the world as does the other two, but mostly we don’t
  • the Wakefield Doctrine is gender, culture and age neutral

-1) head note*: some people talk about worldviews of clarks, and scotts and rogers as if  it is how they choose to see the world. That is so totally wrong that I can’t express it. When we use the word worldviews,  we are talking about individual realities. (  “hey someone lock that door, the scotts are getting spooked by the talk of reality” ), but we are talking about reality. Nothing mystical (well, maybe a teensy bit metaphysical). The thing is, none of this Wakefield Doctrine thing works if you are not willing to accept the fact that, in some cases/situations/at times people experience different realities. ( No, nothing cool,  like talking refrigerators or that our fingers have eyes (hidden under the fingernails, of course!) or weird shit like that. But when we say that a roger sees that world as a herd animal or that a scott lives in a reality that is based on a predator-prey paradigm, we mean just that. They are not making it up! 
As a matter of  fact, were it not for the Wakefield Doctrine, no one would realise that a scott at a dinner party is simply not going to stay seated any longer than totally necessary and that a roger put in charge of office supplies will re-create medieval European culture. Why? Because that is the way the world is to them.
