Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

mp_daybreak

(In the interest of fullest Disclosure), I’m going to go right for the story… no warm up…no romancing  I’ll let you know later how it turns out (and spend some time (metaphorically cuddling) talking afterwards  (…. oh yeah!   zoe   Six Sentence Stories…. be there or being square!)

(…wish me luck!)

Division

The two children played together throughout that last summer, the beginning of the new school year approaching, like the glimpse of the sea to the traveler, obscured and revealed, only to reappear as the path rose and fell.

Promises to rejoin after this mandated separation were made and embellished and recast, as if the effort to describe the future would cause it to conform to their wishes, their youth (and inexperience) served to insulate them from the futility of their ambition. That time, both it’s effect and irresistible motion forward, was the destroyer of what both held most dear, was lost on the two children, a gift outside their ability to comprehend. But the Summer ended, as it always must, and both were sent (and taken), were lead (and willingly followed), to the new school year in the separate places.
Eventually the school year ends, offering the opportunity to rejoin and the two both approach the place they spent their summers (since before either can remember), but stop, one looking at the other, their childhood now only a memory.

The boy and the girl talked and tried to share their time from before and promised to rejoin again, both knowing that what was could never again be, seeing now only a future that left the children behind, playing together in the summer, Life’s final division complete.

Tuesday -the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘come on, who out there doesn’t think kindly of Tuesday, the most innocuous of weekdays!’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Pulp-O-Mizer_Cover_Image

Well, yeah, with a subtitle like today’s, you’d have every right in the world to think, ‘heck! that’s good enough for me… thanks! Wakefield Doctrine!’

…but wait! there’s more! (if there is any Reader out there who did not see that coming, please write a Comment, I’d love to hear your opinion of the rest of this here Post here).

Blogdominion’ Chapter 5  is on the shelf…. or, being a serialized novel, would that be more properly, ‘is available’. I did, as a young clark, watch Saturday morning serials such as ‘Flash Gordon’. Each episode would end with what is referred to as ‘a cliff-hanger’. So if you would be so kind as to go and read the story (Prologue and Chapters 1-5) and let me know what you think of the series. Not just that you like it, though, if that’s all, then, as we say at ‘the Gravity Challenge’, ‘I’ll take it!’  I would welcome any reaction or impressions of the characters and the (developing plot).

Hey! How cool is that? I’m actually writing a Post asking Readers to go read something I wrote. That, Ladies and Gentleman, is the Wakefield Doctrine at it’s finest.

The Wakefield Doctrine is not only coolest, most fun way to understand the behavior of the people in our lives, it is also a very good tool for self-improving yourself. The reason this is true, (the part about being good for self-development), is that when most of us identify a need to change something about ourselves, (could be anything: elimination of bad habits, change in appearance, acquiring some longed for strengths), what almost inevitably happens is that we think that we have to learn something new, change our behavior in new and novel ways, and generally act differently. No! not necessary!  (here’s why)

the Wakefield Doctrine is predicated on the idea that we all live in, what is best described as, a personal reality (aka worldview), and the Wakefield Doctrine holds that there are three characteristic worldviews that everyone finds themselves waking up to each morning, (i.e. predominant worldview, aka personality type):

  1. the reality of the Outsider (clarks) where from the day we became aware of ourselfs we have been trying to: a)hide our difference and 2)learn to be the way it seems everyone have learned to be, real and normal and self-accepting
  2. the life of the Predator (scotts) simple, dynamic, un-fettered by introspection, living to live…. loudly!
  3. the world of the Herd Member (rogers): certain and related, (related to the Herd which, in turn, conveys a sense of belonging that transcends locale and situational differences), for a roger, the Herd is always there, it just not not necessarily show itself

…ok, still with me? Now one of the under-lying principles of the Doctrine is that we are all born with the potential to find ourselves in any of these three realities and we always find one to grow up in, but we never lose the potential to experience the world as do ‘the other two’.
In other words, I have access to the world of the Predator and the world of the Herd Member. (In fact, the Doctrine allows that sometimes we have a more highly developed ‘secondary aspect’ and that shows in our behavior from time to time, but that’s a whole ‘nother Post.)

The thing of it is, when I decide I need to change or self-improve, it’s not like I have to learn something that is totally new, un-natural or inconsistent with who I am! All I have to do is find, in my case, the target behavior as it’s manifested in my scottian or my rogerian aspect.

OK! I’ve officially lost myself in this Post.  lol  so I’ll leave it right here. The truth of the matter is, most of the Readers of the Wakefield Doctrine know the Doctrine nearly as well as I do!  So, any questions as to why the Wakefield Doctrine is so helpful for self-improvement?

TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- (only 52 days until Summer!) (well, kinda… its complicated… write a post and we’ll explain)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

20151113_141830_resized

For new Readers: this is the TToT. As a ‘gratitude bloghop’, you probably believe that you know how this bloghop works. Allow me to say, ‘yeah, but this is different’. Sure, we write posts about the things that we are grateful, usually the things and events and such that occurred in the just ended week. That pretty much describes the TToT….  (don’t you love ellipseseses?  next to italics, they have to be the most effectively suggestive graphic effect in the whole blogosphere!)  If you’re joining us for the first (or second) time and have a moment of ‘jeez, it sounds like fun and they certainly seem to be a friendly enough bunch… but I just don’t have enough thing to do a list of 10, better wait until next week,‘  allow me to retort!  ‘Nah! you don’t have to wait’. You do have to come up with 10 things, (sorta), but join us and know that this bloghop is different. No, seriously, have you read some of the Posts!?!  this is not a little ‘isn’t everything wonderful, I’m so happy with life group hug’. Nope! This bloghop has the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) it’s got virgins (well, technically, they’re Guard Virgins… which does kinda make a difference) and even allows the use of hypo-gratitudinal Items on a List. So, come on!  join us.

1-5 the modern age in which we live in… actually, just talking about the technology, i.e. computers, the internet, and the blogsphere

  1. writing this here TToT Post on a computer… not that I couldn’t write it by hand, but I’ve tried (pre)writing Posts and such, on paper… not so much fun
  2. the connectivity (which is almost the correct word)…. hey, do we all remember what rogerian expressions are? No?  then see me at Item #6
  3. vidchats and such… we returned to a tradition thats got to been going on for, what, 3 or even 4 years now? (the baseline for legitimate longevity in the internet is more manageable too! no more of this, ‘well, my family’s been farming this land for 7 generations…’ nope! the internet is like dog years, only in reverse! in fact, I’ll venture to say that this blog is, by current blogosphere time adjustment, at least 70 years old!
  4. but what is all this speeding efficiency and such without people! last night’s vidchat was with Lizzi (yeah, the Laura Petrie of vidchats, our Ms. L was one of the pioneer women of this very intimate medium (‘cept without the stodgy burlap dresses and babushka and carrying a goat under one arm and fighting off wolves with the other)   sorry! but Lizzi and yours truly, we did kinda bring the internet to New Rochelle*
  5. …and Kristi and Lisa were there too and we talked about writing and such very glad that I could be there

6) rogerian expression:

A rogerian expression is an idiosyncratic statement made only by a roger. A rogerian expression is not simply an incorrect use of words. Rather it is a deliberate use of the wrong words that results in a statement that somehow denies the listener the option to ignore it. You will know these statements when you hear them. There is a moment of disbelief, after which you laugh and shake your head in admiration for the sentence that was made. Examples:

First recorded rogerian expression:
…while still newly married, a roger’s wife threw a faculty party, in part, in the hopes of increasing her chances for tenure. a great deal of effort was put into the preparations and finally the big night arrived. In the middle of the dinner, amidst stimulating and learned conversation on topics ranging from the socio-economic aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, to the cultural legacy of Pancho Villa in rural Mexico, someone (perhaps the Dean, perhaps a colleague of his wife) asked roger if he’d like a second serving of the mashed potatoes, to which he replied, “no thanks! I think I’ll surpass on that!”

7) zoe and her Six Sentence Story bloghop ….and her remarkable ability to encourage and bring out the best (or, failing that, the most creative) in the writing efforts of a remarkably diverse group of bloggers each and every week… Thursdays  you oughta join us next week!

8) Una. she sets an example each day for how to approach life. The current get-dark-way-too-damn-early season is not Friday Night Walk friendly. Last week, for example, I got home at my usual time for a Friday, 5:30 or so, and it was already dark! Now Una does keep track of the days of the week and is quite aware that Friday is ‘go for a walk day’. But it was too dark, so we didn’t. Yesterday I made a point to leave early so I could get home before the sun went down, (even though I had to return to work after our walk), and we got in the car, went to the bank (the Tellers love Una and send dog treats back through the money tube). We were both happy to get in a Friday walk.

9) progress on the Serial ‘Blogdominion’  (read Chapter 4) You know how they’re all, like, ‘you can’t talk on your cell phone when driving, it too dangerous!!’?  well, you want to know what’s way, way more dangerous?  sketching out, in your head,  the next chapter of whatever book or Nano or blog Post that you might be writing…. lol talk about distracted driving!!  Even I get nervous when I look up and realize I’ve arrived at my office and can’t recall a single minute of the previous 20 minute drive!

10) 1.3 (courtesy of the Book of Secret Rules, aka the Secret Book of Rules, which allows, in the case of SR 1.3 (or the British Common Law 3.1) to count the completion of a TToT list as a Grat Item of selfsame list, (sub-heading: ‘booyah!)

‘Six Sentence Incident’ -the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘a train wreck of seven six sentences, it was a horrifying sight to see ‘

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

images9YMAT67P

It’s that zoe-time of the week. Time to take a (single) word prompt and create a story of Six (and only Six) Sentences. As Readers of the Wakefield Doctrine are abundantly aware, that we spend time writing this introduction is essential to the process of creating a Six Sentence Story. Why that should be is beyond me. In the past, I’ve liken this part of the process to warming-up and stretching, as might a runner before a race, I don’t think that that’s a very true analogy, because they (the person in the analogy-to-be) are merely (and) gradually practicing the motions that are the (upcoming) activity. If that’s the case, then a Six Sentence story would be about writing Six Sentence Stories. But they are not! Well, most of the time, they’re not. We could liken this pre-writing ritual to romance ( please apply the appropriate form of romance, that is appropriate from your own life perspective (or, worldview, as we would have it at the Doctrine) and to your persona here in the ‘sphere. Romance (more appropriately, ‘romancing’) is probably the better analogy in that all of what I’m doing (or believe I’m doing) is meant not only to aid my efforts to create a story (of Six Sentences) but convince.entice/woo you, the Reader into being receptive to whatever it is that I will come up with this week. Which, for those of us given to endless speculation, begs the question, ‘is the function of romance to convince the other person that their pursuer is of good intent or is it merely a way to provide a justification for the reactions of the wooed as they decided to accept or reject.

But that’s not important now, what is important is that I provide you the Reader with a Story made up of only Six Sentences, with the word ‘left’ in it (or part of it or related to it).

Left

“..and that concludes the portion of the class devoted to the investigation and de-bunking of the myth of Doppelgänger and other so-called ‘spiritworld fauna’, for the remainder of the Semester we’ll focus on how the established laws of physics are under attack by the irrational and heretic theory of Messrs. Heisenberg and Schrödinger,” the Professor turned off the hooded light on his lectern and walked from the podium to chat with his favored front-row students.

Sam noticed, throughout the previous 3 weeks of lectures, that the would-be girl of his dreams,  Samantha Rathe,  seemed both fascinated and disturbed by the course material covered in Advanced Metaphysics, but today showed signs of relaxing, surely this was the time to make his move.

” I sure am glad that Module’s over, aren’t you,” Sam said as she stood up, a 21st Century schoolgirl, laptop computer clutched protectively to her chest.

“Yeah, I guess,” Samantha looked over his shoulder and then to his right, all while giving the impression of a person who is expecting someone or something to appear to provide help. The lab director’s words kept echoing in Samantha’s head, ‘your clones will all be there, whether you can see them or not, don’t worry, you will never be alone, you will always have someone to rely on other than the singles who still do not understand your kind.

Sam smiled, this one was exceptionally clueless, these clones don’t think we know about how they use their interchangeable identicalness to put one over on us normal humans

(hey next week I’m totally going to try a Murder Me Funny story that Dyanne so excels at… )
