Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Now I remember where I saw the reference to llamas! Kristi’s Mom’s TToT post of last week! She had a Grat Item that had to do with the impressive and highly developed level of behavior exhibited by these animals. Well, never let it be said that the Wakefield Doctrine is not capable of being inspired to reach for a higher level of appreciation of the wonders of Nature!
1) llamas
2) there was something else this week that was pretty impressive… oh yeah, the number of people out for walks with their dogs today. Today I decided to get home early and take Una for ‘a Walk’. And we got as far as the first turn when we met our first person out walking their dog, except they were, like, on foot and everything. Unfortunately, that meant I had to roll up Una’s window, ’cause she’s not a fan of other people walking their dogs. I did not get it on tape.
3) vidchats now, it may seem odd that I should single out vidchats as a Grat Item on a Friday evening when I was not able to actually host a vidchat… but, only if this were your first visit to the TToT and had not yet encountered the….diversity of outlooks on the world and such. It is a good time and I suspect that I will make sure I am able to do this thing next Friday (01/15/16) because I will make a point next week to not fall dreadfully behind on my writing for Blogdominion…
4) …surely this (the Serial Story ‘Blogdominion‘ hosted on Jukepop) belongs up here in the top 5 for Grat Items. That I undertook the challenge of starting a serial story on a site that is devoted to hosting serials (or all types and genres), which means it’s pretty damn public, is amazing. I’m grateful that I did. I must admit to not always feeling the new-flannel comfort of knowing that every Chapter I write gets me closer to actually completing the story. That I would find myself at Chapter 13, which seems by all measures to be about the halfway point in this story, that’s just insane. But here I am. Unfortunately, some weeks I fall behind and find myself with only a first rough draft on Friday. This is not ideal, as I always (up to the present) publish the week’s Chapter on Sunday, by early evening. Most weeks I have a 3rd rough draft by now. But, somewhere in that, I’m sure is a Grat Item.
5) I normally cite Lizzi and the co-hostinae for their incredible efforts to create and nurture the community that is this bloghop. But this week, I’ll say, “hey! new participants! welcome to the TToT” That this is still happening (3 or 6 or however many years we’ve been on the air) is pretty darn cool.
6) For all the new TToT writers, I will extend a welcome and a simple: the Secret Book of Rules (aka the Book of Secret Rules) is and can be your best friend! And like some best friends, it can turn on you in the blink of an eye and take all that you hold dear and make it as if…. No, disregard that. The BoSR/SBoR is reliable, trustworthy and scary. Lets let it go at that… and if you have any questions, ask anyone. No matter what they tell you, it’s true. (Well, because there’s a Secret Rule covering that, of course!)
7) Una for being the perfect life form and role model for me (at least in terms of how to live life in the here and now and such, less on matters requiring opposable thumbs, negotiating contracts and coloring inside the lines.
8) Phyllis for much the same reasons as Una, (except she does have opposable thumbs, colors inside the lines really well, being a roger and all, and for introducing the use of Kindle’s into the household
9) the Graviteers (at the Gravity Challenge)
10) zoe and the Six Sentence Story…. the most aggravating fun I have all week!
