Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- “… six words causing our Time Adventurers to fall into a silence most profound”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Previously, in our tale…

(Language Advisory. ….’cause, well, Rosetta!)

Prompt word:

SNAP

“Geez Louize… that poor little robot …”

The Sophomore’s quiet lamentation was, against the sheer volume of the conversation raging around him, but a scream doing a killer imitation of a whisper.

“What!?”

Anya Clarieaux’s single word question, at a volume no greater than the young man’s, cut through the vocal maelstrom of recrimination, accusation, invective and all around ‘whose fault is all this’ filling the dining room of a vacant house/temporary safe-house.

I watched as our leader/captor/rescuer walked around the table to where the Sophomore sat, his girlfriend on one side busy with fueling the argument and, with a soundless snap of a perfectly manicured finger in Rosetta’s direction, transformed the girl’s,  “what the fuck are you talking abou…” into silence.

Standing next to the Sophomore, Anya’s voice was a thoroughly disturbing synthesis of a mother comforting a child and a not-that-much-older young women coaching a determined yet unsure suitor, “Ethan, I need you to tell me what you saw in your time trip and don’t leave anything out…”

Without taking her eyes off him, she began to sit while taking his hands in her own.

I know I shouldn’t have been surprised, but it was Rosetta Storme who managed to get a chair behind Anya in time for her to sit; I was rewarded by her look of defiant chagrin before she returned her attention to Anya and the Sophomore.

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Frank Hubeny says:

Anya almost fell to the floor! I think she and Rosetta are on the same side. I wonder what the Sophomore saw on that time trip.

Almost being the operative word… (she rarely leaves anything to chance..or a better way to say it, random is not a variable she suffers lightly)

  2. Anya. Damn. She doesn’t “work a room”, she is the room, lol.
Enjoyed the end with her sitting as Rosetta instinctively knew to quickly find a chair to place behind her.

  3. Reena Saxena says:

Rosetta ensured that they do not sink into another dimension of Time … again.

  4. Chris Hall says:

Another excellent episode and I am looking forward to hearing what Ethan will say.

  5. Misky says:

The spotlight shifts to Ethan — and a nice bit of musical chairs with Rosetta.

  6. Rosetta has something in her she doesn’t often show. It’s going to be interesting to hear where this conversation goes.

  7. You keep us tighter in your grip with every week… How will this ordeal turn out… I wonder….

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

well, as far as I can figure, Ethan (the Sophomore) who happens to be a hapless time traveler himself* must of got a look at what happened to the Automaton’s creator and assorted nastiness…

he showed up at the Café transported from his college dorm circa 1972

  8. Aptivi says:

Sounds like this conversation is going to be very interesting…
