Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- “… meanwhile, our Adventurers in Chicago are…”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Previously, in our tale

Prompt word:

FIRE

There are worse ways to come out of a blackout than to the sound of Anya Clarieaux’s voice.

“If one of you idiots even think of saying, ‘Where am I?’ You will regret it.’

Ok, but it’s a painfully short list.

We were no longer in the restaurant high above the Chicago night; we were, nevertheless, seated around a large round table and by ‘we’ I mean: Rosetta Storme, (her boyfriend) the Sophomore, an Order of Lilith nun by the name of Sister Aclima and a short, stout, Darby O’Gill impersonator and, of course, our host, Anya Claireaux.

I reached for my phone to call the cops or the fire department or Lou, only to realize that I was attached/tied-to/restrained in my chair; couldn’t wait to hear our host’s response to that.

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. And the real “adventure” is about to begin! Looking forward to next installment.
Most excellent choice in music. Not sure I’ve listened to anyone cover that song.

one of those situations of watching a show (forget the name lol) and the lyrics caught my attention….’wait a minute! isn’t that…”

got up, found it on ytube and pasted it into the not-yet-complete post

  2. Misky says:

Brilliant song choice, but that final, concentrated sentence out-shines the song by a long stretch. Quite excellent.

      thank you M.

Don’t tell anyone but interesting insight into our own relationship with the Six Sentence Story ‘hop.

I attempted to share it with Len, but I fear my writing was not up to the task. Nutshell version*

With this week’s Six I am immersing myself in the virtual metaphor of the Six Sentence Story bloghop as a ‘live mic at the local pub/bar’ transformed into writing fiction. The key (for me) is that I am a total dyed-in-the-wool fiction writer (fictioneer? lol) so, as such I will not be giving much thought to the next installment until, say the weekend? maybe Tuesday lol

*well, ’cause you have a decent grasp of the Doctrine as well as my personal views on the inherent nature of the SSC&B as a virtual imaginary but consistent fictional location

      • Misky says:

Yes,the blog hop is just like an open mic evening — the Café; our imaginary venue. Our characters are multi-dimensional because of continuity. Quite so.

  3. Chris Hall says:

Ooh, wasn’t expecting that… hmm – tied up? Why?

  4. Hmm. What will that host have to say now and how does one get tied in such a way they don’t notice it …

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

wellll a couple of possibilities 1) a little shot of Botox in each shoulder or b) something that Cyrus St. Loreto might have learned to use in his putatively excessive lifespan*

      * while not apparent in the current installments featuring Cyrus, he is something of a recurring character and in those stories…well in one Six Sentence Story he is involved with the sought after component of the Time Mechanism… in 1885 or so lol

  5. Frank Hubeny says:

I suspect they all got a ride on the time machine to somewhere, or somewhen, remote.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Dude!

We need a forum to discuss plot development without resorting to this, the backyard clothesline, possible narrative trajectories. In fact I am currently torn between Cyrus and The Time Mechanism as the agent of this current plot twist.

      I appreciate your keen eye

  6. The plot thickens. Mayhem may ensue.

  7. He was right to want to hold up the help sign a couple of stories back.
