Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- “the Adventurers achieve a consensus of purpose, but don’t exactly get to third base”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Previously, in our tale...

Prompt word:

PLAN

“…stop talking.”

To better appreciate who, (and, to a suicidally-heretical few, what,) Anya Clarieaux is, consider this: she’d reserved the finest table in the Signature Room (on the 95th floor of the former John Hancock building in Chicago), for five people.

Sure, not a big deal, after all, at least a small handful of people in the city had the juice to compel the restaurant to cancel on an hour’s notice several, to-die-for reservations.

It does help, however, in this, our illustration of the woman’s power and influence, to know that the floor plan of the room consisted of tables radiating out from a single, large round table that commanded the maximum view of the night-city below. As a matter of fact, staff and a few, not-quite-powerful-enough parties, referred to it as ‘the Circle of Excellence’; it is helpful to note that not all who might call it that, were being churlish.

The thing about Anya Clarieaux is that, after crossing the room from the elevator, she stopped to address her five guests and were a diner, late for their reservation to ask the maître d’hôtel why the room was silent, the answer would be a whispered, “Because Miz Clarieaux is standing at the head of our best table.”

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. Woe the individual who does not defer to Anya Clarieaux. With the exception of Ian, none of the others sitting around the “‘the Circle of Excellence’” has a clue as to her ability to exemplify the phrase “there is nothing she won’t do”, lol
Looking forward to the next installment!

  2. Misky says:

    Excellent description.
I wonder: does a woman like Anya preorder meals for everyone?

  3. Frank Hubeny says:

Anya Clarieaux sounds like someone I would not want to have diner with. But then she would not be inviting me anyway, so it is a win-win for everyone. I’ll get a Subway sandwich in the food court on the basement floor. I wonder where that time machine is.

Been thinking the same thing. Might want to outline what we now for the group (Six Sentence Gazette on Sunday)

  4. I wouldn’t want to be there, either. If she ever shows up at the Cafe, I will gladly give her refreshments if she wants them, but I’m not sure she and i would have much to say to one another beyond usual pleasantries.

you know, there’s a certain…not affinity… not simptico something that (often) happens between clarks and scotts… I’ve seen it in my own, most often the interaction begins with my ‘Dude! Are you really gonna…”
depending on the degree of explosives employeed, laws broken (well, the proximity of police lol)
      not always, of course
and then there is the matter of exhaustion (on the part of the clark in such pairings lol)

  5. Chris Hall says:

How wonderful to go to a joint like that! Although it’s so, so high. What if the elevators wouldn’t work, and one would have to walk down all though stairs? That would be a problem, I would think!

  6. Why the heck did I think of Batman while reading the description of the room… weird.

      … err
won’t get no argument from me lol

Don’t tell anyone, but most of my effort in writing this Six was to try and Show (instead of Tell) the Reader how powerful (in all uses of the word) Anya Clarieaux is. So I spent what hopefully is not an obvious amount of time conveying the the table where the Adventurers were seated was round… ’cause when it comes to the head of the table, it was simply ‘wherever Anya choose to stand’
