TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s weakly contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Born in need, nurtured by acceptance and perpetuated by the practical benefits, this ‘hop is a very fun, surprisingly useful exercise in cultivating one’s sense (and sensibility) of the state of gratitude.

So join us.

For the Wakefield Doctrine, we find the following items to totally be Grat List worthy:

1) Phyllis

2) Una

3) the Wakefield Doctrine

4) the Six Sentence Story bloghop

5) paths (old and new)

6) imaginary places in the blogosphere frequented by imaginary people and endless challenge (in the best possible sense) and this week that place is the Six Sentence Café & Bistro. Which, as luck would have it, is hosting a Poetry Slam next week. …ok, quick backstory. Way long ago one of the Proprietors (of the Café) was releasing a new book (in the real world) so, we held a book launch party at… you guessed it, the SSC&B. It was such a success that it wasn’t long afterwards that someone suggested having a Poetry Slam. Welll… it was fun. So, long-story typed: Chris (the aforementioned Proprietors) wrote (in a Comment, we believe) last week: something-something, fun-with-friends, something-something, lets do a Poetry Slam again, real soon. And, yours truly being a clark, (and therefore surprised by the notion of being included in a fun, casual online social event), what we heard was: “something-something, Poetry Slam-Next Week!’ lol. Chris was gracious in her, ‘well, I was thinking out-loud, isn’t one week a little on the short side to get everything together?’ Too. Late.  So… be sure to…wait! what’re we doing… gotta leverage this once-in-a-blue-moon thing into more than one Grat!

7) this: (see Grat #9)

8) something, something

9) So for all reading this: You’re all Invited to join us next Thursday at (Denise’s) Six Sentence Story bloghop. Read(ers) or write(rs), all are welcome. If’n your in the mood for some virtual fun and hijinks, write and link a post (doors open at 6:00 pm Wednesday). Format is casual. Written or audio. Same with the types of poetry, whatever you feel would be fun to put before a virtual audience, have at it. (TToT Host, Frank posed an interesting question about the format (after the “what??!! you are people for real?!!?” lol). He thought perhaps he would devote some of his Six Sentence allotment to his character/avatar/whatever to being in the Café and getting up on stage… the story of the Poetry (Slam) from his perspective. Excellent idea. btw if you’ve never been to the Café follow the link in Grat #6 for a description, layout of the joint. (The layout/floor plan being stable and long-established is the cool thing about the Bistro).

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Cai says:

I love the walking tours. Can’t wait to hear the story of the rock.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thank you cai! Quite unusually (for us) I plugged your ‘request’ for the story of the rock into next week’s TToT.

  2. Frank Hubeny says:

Looking forward to the history of that mysterious rock in your video of the path to the cottage.

I rewrote my poem for the slam this Thursday because the original was pretty bad (actually awful) and this new one at least includes the prompt word, “word”.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Dude! thanks for that (the second thing, not the part about the rock, which we’ll have to wait ’til next weeks ‘hop.)

Thanks for the sense of natural part of the process that a reset is when it comes to writing… we’re all skilled enough at this writing thing to not be thrown off by the effects of ‘first draft edit’ but it’s still good to hear another person state it. (that old, magical concept of ‘identification’ that we enjoy so much ’round here whenever it manifests).

  3. A new path is a joyful, thankful discovery.

Here’s a thankful, I ran into a rogerian expression “in the wild” so to speak. On the nextdoor app, a lady asked if local colleges have a dress code. She was saying if they don’t, they should, as these young people are beyond casual and let everything hang out, front and back. She said it “leaves nothing to the indignation!”

I hope you get as big a chuckle out of this as I did.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      (genuine) laughter*

I am placing your find in the list of rogerian expressions that is found on the ‘roger’ page here in the Doctrine (here)

*which we all know is the incontrovertible response to a genuine ‘rogerian expression’

  4. Chris Hall says:

Aha, much thankfulness this time, and all I would say is this: my WORD! Later… etc
