Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- “a Six Sentence Café & Bistro Six …cont’d”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Prompt word:

SLIP

“If you gentlemen would excuse me, I must have a word with my fellow Proprietors.”

The tall, thin man managed what, as unlikely a gesture in the ‘swipe ‘n scroll’ world of 21st Century social intercourse as holding a door for someone, was a subtle bow, nothing more than a certain incline of the upper body, offset by his steady eye-contact with each man, “Lou, mi casa es su casa, whenever you are in the neighborhood.”

Lou Caesare, shrugging into the coat held by his driver, paused, “Likewise, though I suspect my invitation to ya boy Frank here to stop in at the Bottom of the Sea fell on deaf ears, which is too bad seein’ how Diane just hired a new dancer by the name, Holli Spirit,” the club owner completed the topological miracle of slipping both tree trunk arms into the tailored overcoat while making it look graceful.

Waving away his driver and Frank, Lou leaned closer, “And about that matter with my niece Rosetta out in Chicago, I appreciate your efforts.”

la Raconteuse! Jy is die een skrywer aan wie al die Muses veg om toegewys te word…” the Manager, turning to his left as Lou walked away, laughed unselfconsciously as Chris and Aurelia approached.

“Please tell me that was a genuine compliment in Afrikaans, the manager continued, “After my attempt to slip a Cajun greeting into the note attached to the balloon bouquet for Mimi several weeks ago and getting the spelling wrong, you’d think I’d swear off online translations.”

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. Frank Hubeny says:

Thank you for introducing me to Lou Caesare.

  2. Lol. Tell me it’s Diane who makes up the strippers’ names at the Bottom of the Sea Strip Club and Lounge!
Lou may be a crime boss of the underworld, but he does honor a debt.

  3. Chris Hall says:

Well, I am impressed about your Afrikaans – better than my for sure. I am very pleased what you’ve said, Mister Manager: “You are the one writer whom all the Muses fight to be assigned to…” – meaning: wow!

  4. I think you do quite well in languages you aren’t accustomed to. I don’t think a friendship between Frank and Lou will do Frank any harm and it might do Lou some good.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      thank you.
no, both have a level of integrity (in the sense of consistency to one’s nature) to not be unduly influenced… which is, of course, a thousand posts about the persistence of personality over time

  5. Misky says:

Excellent naming of the dancer. Glad it didn’t slip into Holli Golightly.

  6. Holli Spirit was a divine inspiration.

  7. Liz H-H says:

Holli Spirit Batman! I think we’ve got a winning show in the works!

ya know, you can also stop in at Lou Caesare’s joint, the Bottom of the Sea Strip Club and Lounge for a walk-on. Though with that attitude you might get an employment offer.

      simple layout:
small(ish) city setting. sidewalks, curbside parking (plus a vacant lot or two converted to parking (nothing fancy, just a small wood shedlike building with plexiglass for a window, $5.00 first hour the neighborhood is mostly small shops, single outlet shoestores… your basic deconstructed shopping mall, aka pre-1960s shopping. the Club is across the street from the Civic Center, a block down from the library and it’s safe to walk after dark.

details of Lou’s place if interested

  8. What a name, phew. Haha. But it seems it’s about to get interesting in the café…
Rubs her palms together like a raccoon…
    And love the Afrikaans.

  9. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

    always (interesting)…
