Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s weekly contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Every…err week, bloggers and thought-typers gather and share the people, places, things and events that have incited, inspired and instigated in us a psycho-spiritual state herein referred to as gratitude. The sharing in manifold, be it Reading the different posts…err posted or writing and linking a post of one’s own creation. It’s fun, simple and beneficial.
Following is the TToT list this week from the Wakefield Doctrine, et al.
1) Phyllis
2) Una
4) the Six Sentence Story bloghop
5) new fave utube channel (a celebration of clarks you would be forgiven for thinking) ‘Make Thing With Hand’ here is a sample post (language Advisory, but funny) ‘The pattern that exposes mammals’ past.’.
6) our property welcomes new fauna: Lynx rufus aka bobcat. So it’s like this, late yesterday afternoon, Phyllis looked out the window of her cottage and saw the bobcat walking down the path (top photo left to right). So, naturally she stepped out onto the patio and the bobcat in a most considerate stopped. Full Disclosure: on a previous occasion, the bobcat was strolling along and Phyllis stood in the doorway (sans phone camera, after all she is not 19 years old). The animal’s demeanor was calm (the bobcat, not Phyllis, ok, she was calm as well). Yesterday’s visit was the first opportunity to get a pitcha. So… taking Mia for her morning walks becomes a new opportunity to develop our mindfulness. (Though Mia would not be perceived as prey by most non-amphetamine-jagged bobcats. We will however be aware of our surroundings. As illustrated in Phyllis’ photo taken from the steps to her cottage, the bobcat appears to be well-fed, healthy and not looking to score.
a little closer you say? sure
7) informal landscaping project down at the pond (aka forgot to take Before photos)
8) something, something
9) Second thistle (in the side-yard meadow)
10) Secret Rule 1.3 (From the Book of Secret Rules aka the Secret Book of Rules)

That bobcat is a wonderful addition to your surroundings. It does look a tad wild, but well-fed.
well we’ve been Austrailia’d with the rabbit population this there, so the bobcat won’t starve to death (rabbits being high on their list of ‘yum yum, nature!’
makes me think of how cats think humans see them lol
Incredible! A bobcat! And that’s a big one!
first (of that species) to appear on the property. we’ve had our share of predators, i.e. red tail fox, fisher cats and coyote but they don’t seem to stay for more than a year. that said, in my reading on bobcats territory (for bobcats) can range between 14 and 25 square miles! which given the rural character of our town, I shouldn’t be surprised not to see them every year
It really is a beneficial hop… And what a beautiful creature you have there… Such a cutie patootie … I wonder if it is huggable… Maybe once? Once is enough…
Also the garden is beautiful.
I’m thinking, maybe we’ll surpass on the hugs lol we tend to regard the fauna as we do the flora: you do you and we’ll just watch
What happens when the bunnies run out of stock? Hopefully the predator shifts away.
from what I’m reading (link in post) the normal territory i quite large something greater than 14 square miles so I suspect he/she will keep on the move
Excellent list, especially the bobcat and the mindfulness it brings.
yeah, we also believe that leaving to each their own isn’t the worst approach, at least with wild animals
Oh wow, a bobcat… looks huge!
looks (in the photo as I haven’t seen it in realtime) to be about 24 inches at the shoulders probably 40-45 pounds (mostly muscle) lol
