TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Speaking of the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)… this pitcha is good for, like, 13 Grats

This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Created 13 or so years ago by Founderess Lizzi R what sets this grat blog apart from the many, many, many others with the same theme is that it (the TToT, not the theme) encourages all to be as creative as the spirit moves us. Ya know? To that end, while we hope to get a list of ten things that you (the Reader/Participant) have found to inspire and instigate a state of Gratitude it’s total WWF-no-holds-barred list writing. The only requirement is ‘good intent’. Won’t spend a lot of time defining that; suffice to say, if you get it deliberately wrong you will have to answer to Kristi.

1)  Phyllis

2) Una

8) Hypo-Grat* So, like, everyone pulls out the chrono-reverse** refrigerator ever time they vacuum, am I right? The photo below shows a bottle of dog shampoo we bought for Una in the throes of ‘My god! What kind of humans are we… (backstory: Una was a chodsky pes and, as such had a double coat and, wicked long hair. She didn’t particularly enjoy being brushed. So we didn’t. We did take her to a groomer once, back in, like, 2016 or so. They did a great job. Went back the following year and Una made it abundantly clear that the first grooming she did for us. Naturally, I paid the cancellation fee and we beat a hasty retreat. While the photo for Grats 1 & 2 was not taken at the time, it is a good facsimile for the expression on her face when we left the groomers in our rearview mirror;) that fell behind said refrigerator. The grat is an appreciation of exercise and a brief time-travel to that day with Una.

9) grateful for the Hostinae (and Host, Andrew) Just this week, the codes that link this thing of ours suffered from an operator error. (ikr? like we made a mistake with the date span. knock us over with a feather). Be that as it may, Hostinae cai alerted TToT Host Central as to the error and it was rectified.

10) Secret Rule 1.3

* Hypo-grat: one of the distinctive features afforded participants by the rules (SR 1.5 chapter 9 subverse 8) of our little bloghop… most of us not living in Vincent Peale-ville, ya know? So bad things happen to nearly everyone. Find and include the grat aspect and you’re good to go. (Some restriction may apply. When in doughnut, consult the TToT resident maven, Mimi)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Misky says:

The story about Una and the groomers gave me smile. A dog that knows its mind is the best kind of dog.

All the best for your week, Clark.

  2. Frank Hubeny says:

Your mention of “dog shampoo” reminded me of the time that I once tried giving a cat a bath which (at least for that cat) was a mistake. The only time I felt compelled to give a dog a bath was when he found a skunk. Again, unsuccessful.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thank goodness I’ve only had the one encounter with a skunk! well, technically, Una had the encounter

used every treatment including tomato juice
the smell! I spent a number of years on a dragger (commercial fishing) and am no stranger nor particularly put off by strong smells …but!!! ze shonk!! such a smell! acrid with a bouquet of burning rubber
since that event, when taking a dog (Una then, Mia now) out after dark, I go ahead with a flashlight and make sure the coast is clear (and un-scented)

  3. Trust me, I’m a housekeeper/janitor and I promise, no one pulls the fridge out to clean behind it unless something happens to make them do so, or they are clean freaks. I’m glad the bottle brought back a good memory.

If you want to groom a dog or cat, you have to get them accustomed to it at a very young age, and do it regularly so they figure it’s just part of life.

As always, I enjoyed your list.

fer sure trouble with most none 10k refrigerators the coils (for the errr refrigeration) ore on the bottom of the appliance and having a dog… back when the thing was half it’s current weight (something obviously is up with the core of the Earth and gravity and such) I tried to get at the coils which tend to get nicely insulated by the abundant supply of dog hair

  4. Cai says:

Who let the shampoo bottle fall behind the fridge? I have a suspicion. :D

The stepping stones are so cool. Now you’ll have extra work to do, to trim grass in-between the stones.

Thanks for the mention. I might have alerted just for the mention. :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

lol it was the potato chips and Phyllis (she controls that particular stretch of countertop) but, sure, it was me

the walkway is the only part of the front meadow that I mow and that only the width of the mower, the rest (as you will see as Spring advances into Summer) is left to Nature

  5. Winter/Spring. I prefer the Spring photos, thank you very much!
Pulling out the ‘fridge isn’t so bad if it’s on wheels but if not…. sounds as if I don’t have to tell you that. And still a smile was had for the memory gifted.
I love the picture of Ola’s bridge. When I click to enlarge, it looks like an impressionist painting. Beautiful.

      tru
seems like the wheels were sorta jammed but Y Chromians don’t(ish) take no for an answer
