Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- “…Anya finds something in everyone she likes/finds something she likes in everyone.”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Prompt word:

FLAG

“First of all, nothing bad will happen to any of you as you make your way to my city.

After you get here… well, that’s kind of up to you,” Anya Clarieaux had a gift for speaking over a distance; her talent for vocal inflection imbued her voice with such presence that every grin and raised eyebrow was converted to a memorable portrait of the person in the listener’s mind, think: truly great silent movie actors… except in reverse.

“After I hang up, this group call connection remains open so you three can, if you are so inclined, explore common interests or goals; that said, if any of you are tempted by the thought of running a false flag move on the others, don’t bother; I will not hesitate to make my resources available to those bearing the brunt of any attack,” Anya’s voice faded slightly, as if turning slightly from her microphone, followed immediately by a coughing fit that sounded like: “Crazy nun, Sister Ah ah ah clima!”

“Gesudheit,” the Sophomore’s voice was clear, concise and quite sincere.

Ell-mer, my man!” Anya Clarieaux reacted with unalloyed surprise and delight; the Sophomore smiled without affectation or guile and replied, “Gonna wave my freak flag high!”

“Yeah, you are,” Anya Claireaux, in the safety of her office atop the Omni Corp building at 333 Wabash Ave., relaxed and felt good.

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

It occurred to me I’ve walked down 333 Wabash Avenue in Chicago many times, many years ago. I even had a membership to the Art Institute once upon a time.

It looks like Anya and the Sophomore are bonding, but she may just want that time machine. Now that she has been certified crazy, Sister Aclima is becoming very interesting. Nice series of tales.

      thanks Frank
(someday we gots to co-write something…you have a nat’chl ear for the kind of serials I enjoy writing while being from an entirely different family/tribe and not only having a distinctive ‘voice’ but a sense of the thinking of imaginary, virtual and fictional people. go figure. but v cool)

  2. Everyone wants the time machine, it’s going to be interesting to see who gets it (or what becomes of it).

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      (god! I hope so)

      lol

      • The concept of a time machine is an interesting one. I would probably go back in time for silly reasons like to eat noodles at a cafe that no longer exists or something. I wonder what will happen in the story though.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

oh, man! don’t get me started on the darkest secret of everyone’s favorite time travel fantasy!

  3. Chris Hall says:

How about we all go to Chicago from plane to time machine, maybe 1920s? – but then back to the present and pronto, of course.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      sounds like a plan

saw in your own Six, you’d be stopping in at the Café for next week’s Six. love it. will be there*

      *well, duh

  4. Violet Lentz says:

A false flag operation was my first thought on this prompt too. However- in your case- I rest assured no such flagellation of the truth will go unpunished under the Sister’s watchful eye!

  5. Reena Saxena says:

I like the easygoing tone of the story, despite the hint of a plot.

  6. Excellent, damn funny Six, Clark! From Anya and her Sister A bit to the Sophomore’s “Gesundheit,” 😆
Ian’s got a bundle of strings to untie in Chicago, doesn’t he.

  7. ms pie says:

chicago…. loved the art institute .. and yes i did feel safe…. traveling through time with a host is definitely a plus… now jimi he’s timeless… if 6 were 9….

  8. An amusing Six once again. You do know that if you wish someone well when they sneeze, you kill a fairy – fact. Not that Sophomore would care I suspect.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thanks man, never heard that one! but then again, my travel to exotic foreign countries regretfully limited

  9. Misky says:

First of all, such a fabulous word, and so glad that you reminded me of it: unalloyed.

Secondly, I wonder if this will play out like the goose and that golden egg. Loved this Six. Great fun.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Full Disclosure: wrote it to get all three narratives in the same room! Don’t tell anyone, but I had to re-read posts to get caught up…’specially since I decided on one (sometimes two) Sixes per week.

  10. mysteriam says:

good story – I wonder how their knowing each other will unfold?
