Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
ProTip: the clarks had finished, like, halfway through the allotted time, saved their uncertainty to this last moment, remembered that they decided, ‘Fuck that Those are my answers.’ and stored the experience away for a beat-self-up session at some point in the future. the scotts? they were doodling through the first half, stared at adjacent test takers and did something with their eyes and/or eyebrows (depending on the gender, inclination and reciprocal signals), wrote down whatever came to mind at the end of the silent recitation of each individual question… kept the pencil as a trophy and an ice breaker for whichever test-taker they decided to follow after time was up. the roger smiled at the beginning of the session upon recognizing that the format of the questions were the same as they visualized during their intense and prolonged preparation; happy that their time allotment matched the clock on the world, looked around the room, frowned at the clarks who had their test booklets closed halfway through the session and smiled confidently (and, somehow, confidentially) to the other rogers and scotts looking in their direction.

Heh…I always took FOREVER on any test, guilty of writing ad nauseam to intricately over-explain my answers, possibly in a fruitless bid to impress my overworked teachers. Overexplaining in the written form is kind of like I do when I’m nervous and overshare* when meeting people in real life. *Now that I’m getting older and more comfortable in my own skin, I do this much less often than when I was younger. I only kept a pencil as a trophy when I forget and hung on to it absentmindedly.
yeah… that overshare thing with clarks… that, now that I think of it, might make a decent, albeit AP level Doctrine Post theme.
(plus the thing with clarks is that we view knowledge as value, irrespective of application, context or what have you…and being the compulsive sharers we can be* we always provide as much detail, inference, background and context to most anything… yeah, a challenge to write a succinct Doctrine post… will check in before I do, prolly next Monday)
