2sdey -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

(god! I have no idea!!)

It’s Summer. To be more precise, in a metaphorical sense*, we’re within six feet of the apex of the second highest peak on the roller coaster of the calendar year. Once the cart surrenders to gravity, the Summer is over. Sure, more things to do and events to occur before Winter. Even things that would be way more exciting than you can recall in the lead up to this point. But the leaves on the trees and foliage seem to be getting tired, slower to reach out to the morning sun. (If you’re living in a climate zone conducive to ferns, the Autumn circles are beginning to show as outlines, crop circles messaging the approach of death.)

But it’s still July, right?  The culture of the Herd insists that Summer is just starting, barely a week old, right? Far be it for us to contradict conventional wisdom. Enjoy the days, shrinking by minutes, every twenty-four hours. Unlike sunsets prior to the 21st of June, which are joyful and childlike occurrences, (“Look!! Look!! See how long I can stay, holding back the night!!”), the end of the day has become one of regretful surprise, as the sun has lost the power, the will to resist the night, (“No, it can’t be getting dark so soon, it’s not fair”)

Enough of that!

Here’s a reprint from a long(ish) time ago. (Hey!! Old bloggers at the other end of the links below, we enjoyed those days, didn’t we? If you hear or see someone at your virtual door today, speak kindly about the Doctrine and (to paraphrase the title of a short, short, story by Asimov)** ‘the Fun We Had’.

Friday unfinnish(ed) the Wakefield Doctrine (“no, since you mentioned it, I don’t think I could cram more links into the Post”)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)serious-gormet-shit

…’Fish for Sentience Fry Day’

Seeing how I have nothing but respect for my friends,  Janine and Kate and Stephanie and Kristi, and  their bloghop (Finish The Sentence Friday), I cannot, in all good conscience, submit anything like what was rattling around in my head this Friday morning. Not only was I  going to ‘lead’ with the phrase ‘Fish for Sentience Fry Day’, I was wracking my brain-pan for a logical and reasonable launching point from this phrase into what was to have been my contribution to their fine and respected bloghop!  So, go there and read all the excellent writers and tell ’em the Doctrine says ‘Hidy!’

Hey, did you read the Post about rogers, this week?  I should ask, did you read the Post and the Comments?  Well, if you did and (if) you are able to infer what the value of the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers) is on the basis of reading that Post, we want to hear from you.

The thing about this blog is that it I am attempting to relay and convey an awful lot of information and insight!  Not only is the Wakefield Doctrine a really unique and totally cool way of thinking about personality, personality types, changing the things about ourselves that we’ve never been able to change, but I’m attempting to do so while developing my blogging skills. The thing of it is, while I have no doubt about the power and potential of the Wakefield Doctrine itself, I do struggle at times, to present the principles of this personality theory to Readers of a blog. I will continue to do so. Of course, now we have the Wakefield Doctrine Sunday Video Brunch! So if you’re liking what you think you’re reading and want the inside scoop, join us Sunday.

So. About the Post about  the rogers and Cyndi‘s sister and the Doctrine. Two words: “… to see the world as the other person experiences it.”

The value in learning and using the Wakefield Doctrine as a perspective on personality types and behavior is that the Wakefield Doctrine maintains that we all live, to a small but very real degree, in a personal reality (a ‘worldview’) that is characterized in one of three ways: the world of the Outsider (clarks), the life of the Predator(scotts) or the reality of the Herd Member (rogers). If you learn the characteristics of these three worldviews and observe the behavior of the people in your life, you will be able to infer their worldview, and by doing so, you will know more about that person than they know about themselves.

While the above explanation is sufficient for the clarks, (for whom there is ‘no such thing as un-interesting new knowledge’) for the scotts and rogers I will say this: the Wakefield Doctrine is based on the idea that while we all live in one worldview (our predominant worldview) we all have the potential of the ‘other two’. So if you want to be a better hunter or know more about the background of the people in your life, come join Michelle and them on Sunday Morning.

(oh yeah!!  with all due respect to my friends at TMT Tuesdays (Jen and Kristi) and, of course, the gang at the FTSF… the coolest damn bloghop in the blogosphere is tomorrow  the TToT   with Lizzi leading her band of bad-assed bloggerini on a weekend of grateful and hell-raising, I will say without hesitation that you won’t regret joining up!  It’s a bloghop that runs both days of the weekend… and the Comment threads are worth the trip. I’m so sure you’ll enjoy yourself that I’ll make this Special Offer!!!  if you have a mind to participate I will write 2 of your ’10 things’ for you!!*  so click on this here link at about 7 pm tonight and have some good ole’ virtual fun!**)

* some restrictions may apply, consult Secret Prize Rules and as long as it’s ok with Christine, you’re in!
** no, Christine won’t hurt you… that’s why Dyanne is there

* like there’s any other kind of sense in this blog

** free DocTee to anyone who correctly identifies Isaac’s predominant worldview.

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

P.S. Your intro – sad but true, eh?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Yeah, summer’s end is obscured by the screams of teenage girls and the shouts of adolescent boys

  2. Spira says:

    Another ontro worth of framing.
    Count me in,Clark.
(But I guess you already knew that)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah, but the thing about being the curator of the Wakefield Doctrine, the joy of watching other people discover it. (It has proven to be the case from the beginning, one of the three predominant worldviews need but a few pieces of the perspective that is the Doctrine and they are able to put it all together… better, extrapolate the principles in their own realities. very cool

  3. Had to laugh, i remember that Asimov story.

I loved all those short, short stories from the Golden Age (’40s and ’50s by most accounts)
