TT0T -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Autumn’s arrival, like the first doubts about a loved one, spreading its russet tendrils; smothering the lively colours of summer’s joy.

This is our weakly contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. It was created by Lizzi and is currantly* hosted by Kristi.

The theme is gratitude, the (rhetorical) convention is a list of ten and the constraints are imposed by the individual. What more could an individual, caught up in the fun of seeing thoughts take on form and shape, ask for?

A total license? Why not? See Item 5

For the Wakefield Doctrine, the following represent things the existence of which inspire and incite the state of gratitude.

1) Una

2) Phyllis

3) the Wakefield Doctrine because it is a perspective that celebrates, (and facilitates), additional perspectives. and who wouldn’t benefit by additional perspectives, am I right? (lol… exactly!)

4) technology which provides almost enough distraction to make it through contemporary times un-scathed.

5) the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) Simplest Description I’ve encountered: Like The Key of Solomon ( מפתח שלמה), ‘ceptin ya don’t have to wear silly clothes, fight off Pharisees or caliphs and while it won’t let you double your bank account, you can do anything else, provided you write a credible citation.**

6) Serial Stories: the Whitechapel Interlude and the Case of the Missing Fig Leaf

7) the enforced writing practice that comes as a fringe benefit to participating in the Six Sentence Story ‘hop. It’s fun, challenging and good for ya writing chops.

8) THIS SPACE AVAILALBLE (for anyone out there, reading while perched on a rail section of a socio-econ-geo-cultural division marker, curious? Want to try this bloghop out? But not badly enough to commit to a full post? Send in one of your Grats and I’ll post right here. See how it feels to see your thoughts in oled lights.)

9) our Friday afternoon walks (Una and I go around the block… at an invigorating 9 miles-per-hour)

10) Secret Rule 1.3

1) …exactly! the coast is clear!

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

I entered a comment FRIST and then it disappeared. But well, I am grateful for the Una-dogs of the world, the Doctrine and especially clarks. :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      what the hell! lol
dogs are perfect lifeforms (clarks are determined to be, despite (or because) they know that that ambition is neither necessary or beneficial)

  2. A fine TToT and a lovely reminder of the commonality that can be found in these such “lists” :)
I share in several of your Tfulls, especially #7 as I refuse to abandon my effort to improve the writing.
    Music eclectica today!

  3. What i love about your TToT posts is the consistency and the flexibility. Some things are a given, others spark a bit of extra joy each week as they change.

I especially liked #5, maybe because words in a language that one can’t understand allows for a little bit of imagination/magic.
    Thank you.

  5. Kristi says:

I haven’t canned currants, but should probably try sometime–if I could find some, and the ever-elusive in 2020 canning lids, of course!

Does Una distinguish between her walks around the block and car rides to less-enjoyable locales, or is she always happy to go for a ride?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

funny you should ask, her last regular trip to the vet was not all that long ago and, yes, at some point in the trip (earlier than driving into the parking lot) Una becomes aware that the trip does not have a fun destination (say, like, this weekend, when we drove past the local dairy farm so she could bark a hello to the cows)
not sure if its smell or sight but she is not happy once she realizes where we’re going

  6. Pat Brockett says:

Your #5 is a true display of your sense of humor, well as far as I know. HaHa
Thanks for sharing The Flamingos. That takes me way back.

  7. Lisa Tomey says:

9 miles! I’d be passed out! Have a great week!

  8. Although I am busy these days and slow to get around to TTOT posts, it was a pure delight to drop by and read your list In the classic Clark-like form. It made me smile 😊 I agree about technology providing a means of distraction from the chaos the reigns, as long as we avoid most of the news and weather reports. I love your Friday walks with Una, I am sure she does too!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thanks, J I choose to believe that, at least on the premise that dogs enjoy the variety of scents while on a walk, this would be like spending twenty minutes spinning the dial on an old-fashioned radio*
