TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- “Nearly un-edited Antipasto edition!”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Special Edition. VIIth Year ‘versary

Hard to believe (accept? understand? reconcile with the view out of life’s window passing with increasing velocity) it has been seven (or is that eight… ‘the number of the year only applying on December 31st’ I never quite got that distinction (usually brought to a clark’s attention by the nearest roger)  In any event… It was a while ago. Even by ‘real’ world accounting of the passage of time.

(by the way, Lizzi was one of the first lifeforms to do video social gatherings… way back in …well, back when the medium of choice was google Hangouts. I distinctly recall trying it out with her… with the time difference being five hours or something, it was a Monday evening here on my end… in any event. It worked. Two clarks talking on a video hookup. (Funny story. After three minutes of ‘Oh, hi’ …’So,’  err’ on my part.  The connection dropped, as often happened back then. I sat and looked at the dark screen. I knew that she probably didn’t hang up on me.   probably.  lol)

I believe I have a photo from a subsequent Friday, since I did not join this bloghop yesterday, I will leverage this antidote into a Grat Item Number Six

1)  Una and Phyllis

Una taking Phyllis for a walk in the forest.

2) the Wakefield Doctrine (sine qua and all)

3) Finish the Sentence Friday Really was my Solomon’s Shamir* in this virtual world. Here: one of the first Doctrine FTSF posts. It was through by participation in this ‘hop that I met just about all my future friends in the ‘sphere.

4) Living where we do ’cause there’s an ocean nearby (this taken five minutes from my office)

5) My co-hostinae who, over the years have demonstrated the grace under rhetorical pressures and temptations, never once blocking us…. lol

6) From one of our Friday Vid Chats (turned out that L. didn’t hang up on me on purpose)

From, according to the photo paste in WordPress, July 3 2014

7) THIS SPACE AVAILABLE If there is anyone ‘on the fence’ about participating, I have set aside this space. You want to see your Grats in lights? Send it in as a comment! Totally will post it here with as much attribution as you desire.

8) the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) including the concept of hypo-grats, which, imo, distinguishes this gratitude bloghop from all others.

9) What? Link to early Doctrine TToT post? I thought you’d never ask! From July 2013 This Post

10) Secret Rule 1.3

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. I remember the vid chats! Why that’s Michelle and me on either side of you and Ms. Lizzi!
The TToT without question was the beginning of many friendship and adventures. Happy 7th anniversary to everyone! And special thanks to Kristi for being the torch bearer. Long live the TToT :D

  2. Lizzi says:

Good old vid chats!!! So long ago. So was my hair 🤣🤣
Think I’ve been out of the loop so long I numbered my secret rule all wrong 😯

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

so you didn’t hang up on me on that first test call?
      lol

      (love the avatar)

  3. Kristi says:

    That’s right–vid chats before Zoom! TToT’ers are just trend-setters. :-)
    That ocean view–wow!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      True dat.
That view is from the southern shoreline of Westerly RI if you look far enough you would see Bermuda and then (a bit further to the south and east) the eastern tip of South America

  4. I met most of my blog friends through FTSF too. And I miss vid chats! Maybe we can have a birthday/anniversary version of that, too! Just throwing it out there. Also this… “life’s window passing with increasing velocity” – so true. It’s really amazing and a little scary how the velocity increases each year. I do love these hops – such a great way to check in on friends and do the whole “I remember when I first v-met Clark and didn’t yet know about Clarks, Scotts, and Rogers!”

    • Kristi says:

Kristi, good idea to have a birthday/anniversary vid chat! (My grandma used to refer to birthdays as “birthday anniversaries”, and I think of her every time I see those two words together.)
What do you think, Clark (and anyone else who is reading this thread)?

      • Pat Brockett says:

Would that be a Zoom conference?

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

        I’m up for it.
If memory serves, the single challenge is scheduling. Which is not simply a function of individual schedules… but, and this is the cool part that makes it all worth the effort, also time zones of participants. I once did a list of known TToT participants and it ran east to Germany and West to Singapore.

Hey! Lizzi what was your time zone (relative to EDST) ?

        Josie your timezone?

Michelle? (lol that’s right, you’re living literally in our future, the whole next day)

        Kerry time zone?

        Pat?

Melanie (we totally need a Southern Hemisphere participant if only to make us feel good about being in summer…lol)

        Mimi?

        Lisa?

        Kristi?

        Dyanne

Zoe? (you’re in own timezone… kinda, lol)

add to the list as you would… just wanted to get a sense of where the ‘middle of the day would be’

        • Kristi says:

I’m pretty sure we have all of the continental US time zones represented, and then, of course, we have the international zones. You’re right; coordination can be tricky.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah, that time fugit thing! damn. we collectively (in my high school metaphor*) were probably, what the blogosphere class of 2012? maybe 2011

      * it is a persistent basis for my imagery, I wonder how bad it must have been…I suspect I’m not telling myself everything about those years lol

  5. Pat Brockett says:

Is the photo of Una one that was taken seven years ago? She has such a beautiful coat.
Just looked at your July 2013 post and when I saw the Lucy meme I was struck by how the time we are currently in is so opposite . Wow, there were so many followers back then!
Yes on your #4! I think one of the best things in life is being grateful for the place one calls home.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

no, just a few weeks ago… I agree with the look of her coat and should not say anymore (as I tend to be a poor groomer of impatient dogs)

I suspect that the role of the blogosphere in people’s lives has changed. Your own TToT post mentions your already journaling… as with blogging, the idea is attractive to many, however for it (the activity) to be sustainable…thats the hard part.*

*not really… if an activity is a part of who we are, then it is easy to maintain, the Doctrine is an example. Since starting the blog I have always gotten out of it more than I’ve had to put into it.

  6. Lisa Tomey says:

    A TTOT chat! Weeeeee!

  7. A chat could be as fun as reading your posts (lots and lots). As a kid, i remember asking what it meant that things were 8 Eastern, 7 Central, as i knew it meant to be tuned in at 7, but had no clue about the rest of it.
