Finish the Sentence Friday -the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘I’ll finish it, if and when I decide’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

“You’re all still here…*”

Lets get to the instructions from our two favorite ladies-in-waiting, Kristi and Kenya.

Hey all! This week, we’re doing a listicle of “10 things I hate more than anything.” Feel free to make your list about things you don’t like, things you wish you could change… once I saw it again, I texted Kenya saying “uhhh, what were we thinking?” Her advice “You have to be kind of cranky.”
The linkup will go live Thursday night at 10pm eastern time and will stay open through late Sunday night.
Link up with Kenya here: https://www.kenyagjohnson.com
or me (Kristi) here: http://www.findingninee.com/

So hope to see you there!

Ayiiee.

I have long been of the opinion that Finish the Sentence Friday is the most subversive of the bloghops. (As a clark) I am, of course, genetically-predisposed to play my cards close to the vest. Not that there is anything invasive or prying in Finish the Sentence Friday prompts. They’re just words (or list topics or incomplete sentences) that, like a certain candy-and-cake encrusted house in the forest, wait for those of us who spend an inordinate amount of time in the virtual forest at the end of each week.

Ten Things I hate more than anything….   ten things….   hate….

Wait, no, I’m good. Just need to organize my thoughts (no, I don’t think consolation in the form of the percentage of writers who find themselves unable to write is really overly helpful) I. Am. Not. Embarrassed. Just give me a second.  One…. right here. Ok 1) … (They say going in the opposite direction is the best way to proceed when self-blocking)….

-1 the Wakefield Doctrine (’cause not only does it allow you to know more about the people in your life than they know about themselves, it will actually allow you to predict future behavior)

-2 the blogosphere (because thats where the friends who enjoy the contemporary me hang out)

-3   …. no, this reverse shtick is never gonna last through Ten

Wait, stop with the clever, reverse/negative numbering ‘list’ thats so like pretending-to-almost-dance-while-standing-behind-your-friends-at-your-first-high-school-sock-hop, clark.

I hate to admit it, but either I don’t have anything that I really hate or I have succeeded in putting the negatives far-enough-under-the-bed as to no longer be distinguishable from the old sneakers and box of memorabilia or… I’ve broken my outrage. (I suspect that last thing. Not so much that I no longer feel outrage, god knows there’s no shortage of things to feel outrage at, it’s just that I’ve made a conscious effort to put the real me (if there is such a thing) out of reach of the general world so that I have as much energy for the real things in my life.)

…or I’ve gotten too old and jaded to work up a decent outrage.

Now that would piss me off.

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. I laughed at “too old to work up a decent outrage.” It could be that you’re just in a good mood and that’s a good thing! I’ll be curious to see if you have a similar dislike when you read other’s and say, “Oh yeah, I don’t like that either.”

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

oh man! I was totally, “yeah! that’s right and …that too!!” once I started reading the other posts.

  2. I so giggled, too. And at first I thought similar. But once I started brainstorming this topic I realized I had more than I knew that got my blood boiling. And then I also read others and thought I so could have also added that to my list, too! So, go figure ;)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

theres a reason, I guess, why I hardly ever read other posts before I publish my own…

  3. HA! “Now that would piss me off!” Brilliant. Love your creative take on this, Clark. When you read mine, you’ll see the texts I sent Kenya saying “what the heck were we thinking?” because I thought I’d never get to 10. But, I did… kinda. Your brain is awesome by the way.

  4. firebailey says:

I think there is a certain peace, a sense of self if you are no longer outraged. Its a sign of acceptance, for sure but also that you are okay with your world.

  5. Pat B says:

I was wondering what you would do with this FTSF listicle.
I considered not posting anything this time, and realized with a little changing of the wording, I could contribute something. Hate does so much to destroy and plant seeds of negativity that I didn’t want to be a part of that, hence my choosing to take a different path with my post. This doesn’t mean that I have never felt hatred, but it does mean that I’ve done what I needed to do for me to feel real happiness in spite of whatever once made me feel hatred.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Well… the outrage thing, I am naturally very predisposed to it and decided a while ago that I had to avoid the cues first (which is pretty much everything on tv news and the newspapers). Lest anyone think I have cut myself off from the everyday world, let me say, “Yes. Yes I have.”
      lol
no, seriously… clarks are especially prone to obsessing on the nonsensical and irrational in the world and, it seems, the features of the modern culture is geared to simulating fear and anxiety in as many people as possible. Apparently (since I don’t live in a cave) the world is doing just fine without me…. more energy left for the things that are good and positive.

  6. Vickie says:

First – I like that song too. Second – too old to work up a decent outrage LOL . There you go; you found one!

  7. haha, I can only hope to get too old to work up a decent outrage. I think mine grow stronger with age, BUT, my list of things to love is much more powerful.

  8. zoe says:

Wait for it! Wait… Wait… Norman Rockwell!

  9. herheadache says:

I didn’t do this one because, I think, I was afraid that if I started writing them down, I wouldn’t be able to stop. I like your take on this one though.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Well I did kinda remember some of things that really make me mad once I started reading some of the others… but I don’t seem as inclined to keep them in front of my mind as much as I might have at another time in life. That is not to say that I don’t get caught up with the ‘oh, man! I know they’re gonna say something, and if they do, then I’ll totally….’ like that (only all day long, if I’m not careful and not let it get established in my head.)

  10. Mardra says:

Dude! love it. and I didn’t know this song before and I’m digging it.
    That is all.
