Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Funny, the process becomes the end in itself.
It’s a matter of fact that. of the three personality types of the Wakefield Doctrine, clarks are the creative ones. That being said, we have the ‘Everything Rule’ to remind us that, ‘everything happens to everyone, at one time or another’. So, when it comes to creativity as a quality (available) to people of the three worldviews, it’s not correct to say that scotts and rogers are not/cannot be creative, they can! It’s simply that how (a quality) such as ‘creativity’ manifests is where the difference lies. (And the cool thing is, when you consider the manner in which a thing/quality/characteristic exists for each, the character of that personal reality becomes all the more easily appreciated). Lets take creativity. (please!)
clarks will create (or perhaps it might be more accurate, if not more obscure to say), bring into existence that which has never existed before
rogers will create by taking that which exists (be they tiny tubes of paint, of pieces of wood or even notes on paper) and reconfigure, re-arrange into something unlike any previous arrangement of (tiny tubes of paint, of pieces of wood or even notes on paper)
scotts will take from themselves that which exists within everyone else and present it in a context that no one has, (or can recall), witnessing before
there! pretty simple, isn’t it?
clarks create, rogers innovate and scotts evoke
so the Post subtitle? why do I seem to cast creativity in the role of a temptation that might be better off fed? Because as clarks, we create because we’re Outsiders, we are able to create because we’re Outsiders and, yet, we cannot create within ourselfs the thing that might change our Outsider natures.
oh so true about the clark creativity . The desire to produce an original … plagued often by the world of reproduction and no original ideas….never to believe it’s all been done before, thank God.
that’s an intriguing assertion…. has it all been done before?*
* the irony of my challenging this after citing the ‘everything Rule’ is not lost on my ownself
lol
As Ivy says – the desire. The eleven tabs open might be the process.
yeah… the internet is every clark’s dream (well, one of them)… the biggest Book and Magazine (‘new and old!’) Store in the world!
Can someone fall in between two? I’m definitely a creative person. Very in fact. But I can see how someone can identify themselves as an in between.
very good point/observation
…not so much in-between as ‘curtain on window, often blowing open’
the Doctrine maintains that we all grow up, develop and live in one of the three worldviews (referred to as one’s predominant worldview), however we all retain the potential to experience the world as do ‘the other two’. And, in fact, some of us have these potential qualities in greater, rather than less amounts…we refer to secondary and tertiary aspects.
Example: I’m a clark (predominant worldview clark/Outsider) with a secondary scottian aspect and a (weak) tertiary rogerian aspect.
As a result I can be seen, on any number of occasion standing on the sidewalk of this virtual world, jumping up and down, shouting, “HEY!! HEY!! come out!! Look what I found!!!”
lol
I step on occasion into the world of the scott and so it is a part of the way I relate myself to the world around me…. some people have secondary rogerian asppects (which imparts a certain ‘reserved aggressiveness’ if they’re a predominant clark or a ‘psychotic sincerity’ if they have to be scotts)
thanks for the excellent question… I always enjoy coming back to the basics of our little personality theory.
I’m with Ivy – that urge to create…and not necessarily a work of art. Though art can be part of it. But it might be a piece of writing, or an innovative idea…or new ways of doing things…yes!
Nice post. I like the basics presented this. It’s a helpful reminder, another way by which to glean a person’s predominant worldview.
It is how I can “see” that while both are excellent musicians, their creativity is manifested quite differently. I speak of Jeff Beck (clark) v Eric Clapton (roger).
Please correct me if wrong, but while Eric is most excellent in his musical expression, I “hear” more from Jeff. Nothing overtly flashy, it’s just that often, after listening and watching, you walk away saying “damn…” :)
