-the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘We’re reaching out to all Audi owners with news of a great Offer…attached you’ll find a full trade-in Offer!!!

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

What excellent timing on the part of my local Cadillac dealership and it’s news of the 2015 Jump Start Program!  Their mailing not only had the information that, with the enclosed “…three (3) signed offers [See checks #802- #804].” would allow me to trade in my car, but I could also upgrade to a new Cadillac ‘with no money out-of-pocket while even lowering (my) current monthly payment with approved credit’.

What great timing.

I woke up this morning thinking, ‘whatever happened to the Posts (that) got written because I read a part of a label on a jar in the refrigerator door, or because I heard a fragment of background music on a commercial on TV?’. So, when Phyllis came into my office (aka ‘the spare bedroom’), this morning, asking,  ‘Can I open this envelope addressed to you from GM, maybe it’s about the SUV we rented for the Ocean City trip?‘ I was all, “Sure, why not?” And then she said, “No, it’s just that they want you to upgrade to a Cadillac.”  (And… a little wheel turned in my head.) Walking out of the room, “I’ll throw it out for you.” (…and some rust flaked off enough for a cog to lurch on its axis).

…no, wait!  Let me see that.”

So the obvious question arising from reading this snail-spam is:

“Would you trade in your predominant worldview for one of the other two?”

DyanneChristine?  you’re both self-admitted scotts… (if you could), would you trade in the world of the Predator (” live to chase, catch to survive, protect to thrive…. the world is a vast savannah and you have cubs and you have an acacia tree to doze under in the noon day sun (remember, this is a metaphor…. although if I come upon a scott …in a gym class or the study hall during 2nd Period and they seemed to be asleep, I, for one, would not try anything! Even asleep, scotts are all about response to threats and opportunity.)

(Or), lets ask Kristi or Michelle, our rogers in residence, if someone offered you the chance to trade in your thoughtfully and properly coordinated world of the Herd Member (a place for everything and everything in its place, and though this sentiment need not be literally expressed, the world, to a roger, is like the most wonderful Lego set ever, everyone and everything in the world has the potential to be…. good. Good and sufficient. And all one needs to do is understand the Right Way and share it with the people in their lives.)

Would either of  you trade it all in for the ever-changing, never boring (except when it becomes tedious) world of the Outsider? (‘ according to your friends’ (and some of your family), you have such gifts and talents and potential and, even though you’re willing to accept that they’re probably not saying that to trick you, you still know that you must live in the shadows. Metaphorically, of course, but your life, your personal reality has conditions (as do the other two) and the primary of (those conditions) is that you must, at any and all costs avoid scrutiny by the real people who surround you. Stay on the edges, avoid overoptimism and life, well, life is just about nearly perfect.

Like that. Would you trade up to another predominant worldview?

hey! thanks local Cadillac dealers!!

…the car thing?  what, are you frickin kidding me?!  But thanks for the Post.

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Would I change my expression – heck no (isn’t that the definition of a Roger)?
But the broader question, if I could would I do it all again? – harder to answer (but yes).

I am not surprised (at the first) and curious as to the second. Which of the ‘other two’ would you opt for your predominant worldview (aka personal reality)?

  2. I think I’d like to be able to tap into my secondary Roger at will. But would I trade my Clark worldview outright? Never. It suits me.

… I agree, (almost posted a Halestorm music video… a little obvious, but good song, great band)

  3. valj2750 says:

In the words of a roger I am related to by marriage – “it is what it is”. However trade (up or down)? It would be interesting to see the world from the inside of another, that is for sure. For awhile perhaps, and then back to my own worldview and reality. (Notice I did not mention any specific worldview here for myself)

Half the battle (the critical half) is being able and willing to accept the idea that ‘the other person’ is (possibly) experiencing a different reality and (subtle but essential) it is as real as one’s own …reality.
Fortunately, the Doctrine maintains that we are, all of us, heir to the three worldviews and that with effort and will, it is possible to experience the world as do ‘the other two’. The really hard part is knowing that one has had this experience, as the very reality (or one worldview) is remarkably ill-suited to remembering the experience in another…. lol
