Tuesday -the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘…in search of an August 11th Post’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

olla7.5

So, I was looking for a re-print Post to er… post, today and thought, ‘hey! lets go get a previous August 11th post, because it would be relevant!’ (New Readers?  I’m a clark, so there is a valid logic behind that thought process, it’s just that it’s kinda hard to explain. Unless, you’re a clark, but then, if that were the case, there would be no need to explain. Lets let it go at that, shall we?)

Much to my surprise, I found that there never has been a August 11th Post in all the time I’ve been writing the blog.

now there is.

The photo above is of our first dog, Ola. (As photos go, it is one of my two favorites. Both the one above and the one below tell you what kind of dog Ola was, her temperament, her intelligence, her attitude and, most of all, how she felt about being in a pack with Phyllis and me.)

She was everything good that dogs (can) be and she was everything that I could have hoped for in a life-form to love.

Funny. Of the Posts I’ve written over the years, the ones that are about Ola (or Bella or Una or, even Phyllis) are usually the Posts that generate comments from people who otherwise do not comment, they are comments about how wonderful a dog she must have been and how much I must have cared for her. And while nevertheless accurate, this ‘reflection of a relationship’, tells you more about me than I could ever tell you directly.

TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- my god! it’s the opposite of last week’s ‘photo Post’, it …it’s the ‘radio edition!!’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

<photo 1><4 year old Chodsky Pes sitting in the front passenger seat of an A4 as the car travels, at speeds not exceeding 10 mph, over the streets of Hope Valley, RI. The passenger side window (now beginning to acquire a patina of dog slobber) is open to a halfway point, allowing the dog (‘Una’) to put her entire head (but no more) outside the car. Una’s nose is flaring at a very high rate, her ears are back, the very image of a dog ‘on a scent’. Every 39 seconds, Una pulls her head back into the car, looks out the through the windshield, looks over to me, smiling a smile (that aficionados of canines work constantly for), then back out the window.>

Interesting week.  Lets try to make it more interesting.

1)
<photo 2><a computer screen showing the Post Editor view of the most current Post of ‘the 2 Mile Run presents, ‘the Gravity Challenge’. All photos, except for the writer’s. are embedded in the Post, (Titled: August 8, 2015 …the last day of the week for all ‘G Challengers’ well done, yo, well done.  clearly, this blog has a huge jones for salacious and provocative Post titles.) The variety of scale readouts that are evidenced in the photos that are pasted above each participant’s name immediately jumps out at the viewer… some are full readouts of old analog scales and others are digital readouts and one…. one seems to have a little person in it. One assumes that the participants enjoy variety.>

First item for this week’s TToT: everyone over at the ‘Gravity Challenge‘  Kristi and Christine, Val and Lisa and Joy  we’ve all been have a satisfying time at the ‘G Challenge’ this week.

2)
<photo 3><comprised of what one might refer to as ‘hillocks’… (assuming one was living and writing in 14th Century England, of course) the trees in the area leading the treehouse are pine, yet the tree that the treehouse is built on is maple. The stairs lead to a door that opens into the interior, the walls have rectangular openings and there is, just a hint of a deck, projecting off the far side of the structure. The roof is visible and is a dark grey asphalt shingle. The sides are un-finished pine. Overall, the effect is: small house set in a tree in a clearing in a wood. Maybe not hobbits, but (possibly) Huck Finn.>

Second item: Phyllis’s treehouse project. The construction is complete, the window openings are next, current thinking is, roll-up bamboo screens/shades

3) well, how often have we done a total photo TTOT post?  that does kinda sound like fun… Kristi and Val and very good at that format… will have to give it a try. For this Item, lets say that I’m grateful that I don’t have to write a description for a full ten items, and let it go at that.

4)
<photo 4><the western sky from the backyard at about 3:32 one afternoon this week past, property is mostly pine trees and so, even with the clearing for the house and yard, the horizon is always at about 65° the foreground is trees to the left blending in to the dark shape of the back of the house and the second floor deck, behind and above center is a sky that is that totally amazing ‘school-is-about-to-start-again-blue’  in the center of this blue field are rows of clouds… in an wavy pattern (straight waves or curvy waves) parallel rows disappearing into the dark woods below and dissipating into the strong blue above… they are of a  grayish color that would not have you thinking, ‘shit! I just washed my car’! and they are somewhat fluffy…. as fluffy as clouds might be and still be clearly defined rows.> aka ‘a mackerel sky’ and an indicator of precipitation within 24 hours.

Fourth Item: the appreciation, not only of clouds and digital cameras, but also of acquiring knowledge (predictive qualities of clouds) that can be interesting, amusing or intriguing.

5) zoe and her damn Six Sentence Challenge!! I love it and I hate it.  (you know, one of the first things that struck me about this blog thing is how good the writers (of blogs) are and how, at least in terms of those I came into contact with at the beginning, courteous and encouraging they were (and are) to me in my efforts to: a) present the Wakefield Doctrine in a way that would allow anyone to read it, understand it, use it and benefit by it and 2) learn to write good   in any event, as everyone is getting from this here Post here, I’m really taking the ‘improve by practice’ thing to heart.  hey z  thanks a lot!

6) got a chance to do some physical labor this week!  In the form of one of my all time favorite things to do:  dig holes and move the earth from here…. to over there!  (I’d try for a ‘photo description’ of me and shovel and shell barrow, but there’s not enough time to brush up on my DH Lawrence)

7) the Wakefield Doctrine  well, just because it’s become the thing that allows me to believe that the things I’ve allows wanted to believe I could develop within myself are, in fact, already within and… and! there’s a chance that if I really put myself into it…. I can become… (whatever it is that, while not necessarily making me a real person, will dull the edge of the part of myself that contends with my status as an Outsider).

8) Lizzi and the co-hostinae and them here at the TToT  (yeah, damn! if I thought of this Item at the beginning, I might have had the time… and the energy, to take on a photo description of them… probably just as well,  surely get myself in trouble trying that!)

9) Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)  if for no other reason than SR 1.3

10) SR 1.3

Sentences? …√ Six of ’em? √ a story? ….a story?! -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

SamsonDestroyTemple

Today is a Six Sentence Story Post. Presented by, Friend of the Doctrine zoe, the Six Sentence Story challenges us to take a single word and write a story around it. And the story must be Six Sentences long. No more and no less. It’s fun! …just like taking Miller Analogy Test was fun, like going on the first blind date was fun, like being asked to make the toast/give the eulogy/respond to a friend’s desperate plea for help was/is fun.

I’d like a little time to think it over, if you don’t mind,” her tone was pleading, the look in her eyes challenging, just a blink from confrontational.

“No, no! I want you to take your time, it was never my intention to make you feel pressured! Take as much time as you need!”  resentful, the look in his eyes: fear.

“As long as you know that, whatever happens, I’ll always love you” she said with an urgency that belied the resignation that seemed to echo the words, standing with her back to him, looking out over the patio to ocean.

I know and I’ll never forget this” he said, a failed attempt to cover the thought, ‘…or forgive myself’.

Madam, Monsieur? Your table is ready,” the maitre d’ spoke with an air of assured command that served to welcome, apologize to and re-assure many an impatient guest.

“Please accept our regrets over the mix-up with your reservation, I assure you everything will be just as you had hoped.

Mon. Day. -the Wakefield Doctrine- ‘ a fun little re-print Post from the way, early days of this here blog here’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

conference-at-night by Doctrine fav Edward Hopper

On this past Saturday Night’s call-in, zoe happened to stop by and we have a very enjoyable conversation. (‘We’ being zoe and Denise and me.) In any event, the conversation veered (as all good conversations do), to the topic of ‘Six Sentence Stories‘, which is, of course, the very challenging (in a good way) prompt-blog that zoe is curating (for Josie). And at one point someone said something that made me think… ah!  I could use that for next week’s Six. Upon further reflection, I fortunately realized that that never works.* But, I like to start the week with a Post, so, I went and found the Post (?!?! yeah, I know! that, in and of itself is pretty amazing) and here in it’s entirety is the Post titled,

‘oh man!… what is it now?’  (2009)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine. Sorry to dissappoint, but the Interview with the roger(Progenitor) is not complete and as such is nowhere near ready to Post. Sunday is a time when I try to get something/anything new in but was drawing a major blank until the name James Joyce flashed against my 3am brain and so we are going to walk to amateur experimental-writing land this morning. And by the way there is something weird about trying to write like this and yes I will tell you something you do not in fact know but the loss or surrender of most punctuation is really hard on the typing. Thank god for the occaisional period although I don’t know how many of them I have left but for some reason doing this Post the way I am I am mis-spelling alomst every third word I promise that I will spellcheck this thing and not put you throught that ordeal or misspelling everything in the name of an art for which I have no techniques be warned though I did look up EE Cummings before I started and at the first opportunity I know I will jam a reference to his stuff. My mother used to have an expression that went a little knowledge is a dangerous thing I think this is an example of what she meant although she died in 1979 and could not have imagined this particular form of acting without regard to justification. Although she (my mother) was a clark of the first order so I would bet that she would have no problem accepting the strangeness of this Post. We clarks are good at that we will witness the second coming and not show a reaction. But she was a clark in all the classic forms of expression you must allow for the time/culture she existed in which for my purposes and perception would be the 1950s through the 1970s. But as a clark she was the perfect selfless-to-a-fault mother and just in case there was any doubt about here type (clark, scott or roger) she has a 3rd grade school teacher. Hey no clark there. Anyway not sure how i got off on that tangent. Damd did i just lose capital letters? Oh well what can you do. so i was saying i brushed up on ee cumming because we all had the wednesday in spring 5th grade english class that started on the poetry and who did not like the phrase and the world was puddle wonderful? but the fun for me was that he did not need to use punctuation or even particularly spell things right and he certainly felt free to make up his own words. i never got much into that poetry thing then but like so much i am only now coming to appreciate things that i thought at a previous time i just did not have the time for. and maybe that is part of what this post is saying to me. while it is not uncommon to put things off, i am coming to an understand only now of how there is not a later for things to get done and as i look back i realise how much time i wasted. this is not a negative thought rather for me this realization produces in me the acceptance and will that whatever i might find of interest today i should and must invest all i have to invest in it now, not later. yeah, yeah i know kind of basic, mature adult looking at life shit. bear with me am filling up the page and can get out hopefully without a topic but no, i stayed too long. so i was talking with downspring glenn, who of course is a scott you saw his interview last week and we got on the subject of post writing and what to do when there is no topic. he is just a scott and as such is strongest in the here and now where all those people live but afterall all of us participating in this Doctrine thing are no more a pure form of our type than we are neither so as an evolved scott glenn is able and quite helpful in working on the development of the Doctrine at least as far as this current effort to bring it to the world. did I get off on a tangent? how the fuck could you tell? this stuff is probably harder to write than it is to read at least you can stop at any point an say yeah that was cute that was creative so when is there a point going to be made and maybe i will just check back in on tuesday or so. and btw i have no idea of what the appropriate music is going to be with this odd little post but if the cat smiles it will be what it needs to be. where was i oh yeah, glenn and the discussion of topics for posts. he said hey why don’t you write about the differences between… and then a number of suggestions most sports as a vehicle for comparing clarks, scotts and rogers. i think he suggested baseball, football and golf i said sure that sounds like a good idea and then he moved on to compare the three stooges which he realized we had already done in person i think talking with downspring joanne who i want to thank for her efforts at working on the questionaire which no else is helpin on. damn i wish i still had itlaics. anyway glenns last suggestion was pick a person in the world that you really hate and tell them how much you hate them and why you hate them. good idea. i hate glenn very much much and it is because he is so scottian at times that i don’t understand…ha ha got you going for a second huh? glenn it is strange how presentation changes everything. words are the point but how important is how they are arranged/laid out/presented/fuckin typed? apparently it makes all the difference in the world. so to complete this minor cycle in the overall arch of the post and my spelling is really going downhill, i hoep that this thing does not decide that spelloing does not matter as grammar and everything else seems to not matter. will do my best to hold on to the last shred of coherency almost done. anyway since we always include some new information about the wakefield doctrine in every post. hey do they still do the prizes in boxes of cereal? i still remember the whole digging to the bottom of the box of frosted flakes looking for the prize that was invariably contained in some kind of white paper envelope that was sealed around the edges in a most peculiar way. the lesson? oh yeah hazel used to use that expression the oh yeah thing jeez what a not to be described yet total energy black hole that hole my hazel relationship thing was. even allowing for the first relationship effect which is cheating here because if you bring up a significant life event i don’t think you should try to control it by laying a in-retrospect i certainly understand what i …blah blah blah but it was the focal point of my existance while it was happening and for too many years after it was over. wtf where the hell am i? where are my caps, my parentheses, jeez louise it is a lot easier to get lost in this rather tedious technique than it is to get out. must find paragraph key…i now it is here somewhere none of the keys have letters anymore shit try something hit any k)y ok {? maye hit1234 nah numbers \

Ah! I’m out! Thank you jesus! I am out of that, that, a lot funnier to read than to write, thing. Whew, man I thought that would never end.
Hey, plenty of white space filled in…maybe I can just tie up a few loose thoughts, find some music and put this bad boy in the category: ‘Keep one as Proptype, cancel production run”

Damn, what little typing skills I had, seem a bit messed up by this little experiment. Alright loose end tying time, (in no particular order):

there was a person by the name of hazel; my mother was, in fact, a 3rd grade teacher (quite a good one, but she was a clark); hey I gots italics!; golf is a clarklike sport; football is scottian and baseball is the rogerian sport.

Alright. Now for some music….(man! I just ‘previewed’ this Post, jesus christ what a mess! am thinking of putting music first, be weird but that really, totally is a meaningless term at least for today.) Nah…better put it down here, someplace for the Reader to run to:

So…

* we’re all so good at this Doctrine, I have no need to elaborate

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

New to the TToT? Feeling like you’re not so sure you want/can/are suited to participation in a ‘gratitude bloghop’? You are. (the reason I appear to be so confident in making this statement is based in genius of founderini Lizzi Roger’s  vision for the TToT… and that was, ‘hey! come join us! you see the instructions…follow them the best you can and know that this is about how we feel, not just what we do‘*)
I submit as evidence the following Post (un-official motto: ‘hey, If they let me get away with posting this… you gots nothing to worry about!’ )

1) (the 2 Mile Run presents) ‘the Gravity Challenge

2) treehouse

3) Una

4) yard animals

5) Six Sentence Challenge

I’m late for the Gravity Challenge…. damn  Kristi and Christine and Val and Lisa and Joy are gonna be pissed…I’m supposed to post by 8:am and here it is 8:17!!!   shit!…. be right back!)

…ok, where was I?

Done!

* well, kind of a condensed, paraphrased, derived from a compilation of a variety of statements found in sources not necessarily authorized by Ms. Rogers, the co-hostinae or anyone else for that matter, SR. 6.32 is, however, invoked in this case (SR. 6.32 stating, in part: when you’re writing a post, write whatever the hell you want, provided you can cite the appropriate Rule (from the Book of Secret Rules (aka Secret Book of Rules)) and are willing to face zoe, the SGV, Sarah and, if you’re still standing, Christine and Dyanne… ya know?
