TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- (yeah, no! I think there’s a kitchen sink down there somewhere!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

1) I am ever grateful for belonging to, participating in, co-hostifying a bloghop that has such confidence in the integrity of its ‘theme’, i.e. the listing, describing and sharing events and occasions, people, animals and multiplayer sports that participants feel a sense of gratitude for, that the “Rules”,  at least when not secret or dance enhanced, are easy to break and, most importantly, flexible. This flexibility is totally contingent on having the proper attitude/intent/heart.

2) Well, I do watch some TV. But we have basic cable, so, for the most part, there isn’t a lot to watch… not counting, ‘How It’s Made’, ‘Castle’, ‘Parks and Recreation’.  That being said, when I do watch I have the remote ready to mute any and all commercials. There is a commercial that I’ll watch, ‘Hannah and Her Horse’. (For anyone reading this who is of a certain age, the phrase ‘I buy it for the articles’ may ring a bell.) But….but!  I will laugh and turn up the sound whenever this commercial comes on. (I was in the office yesterday, talking to an associate and I mentioned Hannah and was rewarded with a blank look and a, “I don’t know what you’re talking about“. So, I opened her office door and said to the room at large, ‘hey! any of you guys familiar with that commercial, ‘Hannah and her Horse‘  the reaction was, as expected, ‘yeah! great commercial!’ What is kind of funny though,  is that no one could remember what the commercial was selling.  Go figure. Seeing how I don’t know how the vid will ‘display’, I’ll post it at the bottom of the page.

3)  You know what day today is?* Saturday, but not TToT Live Saturday. TToT Live Saturday is only one week away!

4) Una and the Cows (see lead photo/video) (yes… this week, it would seem that we’re throwing out the rule book when it comes to where to place the video links!)

5)  How about an ambi-grateful Item for this week’s list? The 2 Mile Run?  love it! wouldn’t do without it… love the group  and hate it, it’s boring and repetitive (every morning, ‘cept Sundays!) and the Elapsed Time thing!! ayiiee up, down…. down a little,  ..way the hell back up again… if it weren’t for Kristi and Alex and Val, who, I know for a fact, are experiencing the same thing…well, maybe a few less mutters of ‘fricken running!!’  lol  but, the fact is, while most of you know what I mean about being ambi-grateful for the 2 Mile Run, my fellow  2 Milers know how I feel. (there’s that business of identification again!  such an amazing concept, no?)

6) shout out to the concept of the Wakefield Doctrine blog. By this I mean, the drive to write a blog on the principles, applications and appreciation of our little personality theory. I mention this because since the very first post I’ve gone through phases where I can’t write enough posts and, other times it’s like having dental work… admittedly necessary but certainly not enjoyable, even when the chair side assistant is totally hot. So lately I’ve been trying to find my ‘next take’ on the Doctrine. There’s an advantage to experience in this case, I’m not panicking and thinking ‘omg! I’m out of stuff to write…I’ll never write another post that people will want to read! when the hell is this thing gonna take off!! come on clark!! think of something!!’   well, maybe a little. But the simple fact of the matter is that I still enjoy writing and being read. (What’s genuinely discouraging and puzzling is my …capacity. no, wait, don’t laugh!  but the thing is, if I write a 2 Mile Run post first thing, (right after ‘running’ my 2 Miles)…. even though these posts are short and all… maybe 100 words… I some who then don’t feel like writing for the Doctrine.   (no, it’s not funny, zoe…. you and Dyanne can stop giggling).  My solution is: depending on when I wrote my last Doctrine post, I’ll hold off on writing the 2 Mile Run post until later in the day and simple focus on the Wakefield Doctrine. It is totally still enjoyable to hit publish at the start of the day. Then, no matter how bad my day my go, I can read the Comments and see the reactions of Readers. Worth the effort.

7) Hey!  Lets do a Poll!  We haven’t done one of those in a while!  And since the TToLive is only a week away, lets focus on the very basic Question:

8) I will be attending the TTohLive! next week if:

9) I will not be attending the TTohLive! next week because:

yeah, right!  like anyone who is able to, would miss out on this event!  el.oh.el.

10) SR 1.3 (UK SR: 3.1)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

How can I not claim FRIST? !

  2. ivy says:

Never saw Hannah and her Horse… cute…. but alpha zombie cows …now that has a place in TV.

    • ivy says:

hey did I miss it… what time is the TToT 27th extravaganza? So I can hack out 15 min in the work day perhaps….

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

totally you gots to… If you’re at work, and your computer has a camera…you should be all set (therapist to client: “Look, it’s a bunch of virtual people from all over the world…whats to be self-conscious about?!? get over it!”) lol…. ok maybe not
        or your phone

the time is 10:30 am to 11:30 am EDT ya gots to be there…. you being of the original Vidchat Friday crowd

  3. Denise says:

“Zombie cows”. Begs the question: what if I eat a burger made from a zombie cow? Am I in danger of becoming….a zombie?!

Nice little post here Clark. And naturally, Hannah was created for a certain, ah, demographic. I don’t think age as much as gender was the target. lol

Who in their right mind would miss the opportunity to be in attendance at the very first live bloghop? Who I ask you!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

(not even funny) two words: prions

actually that’s only part of the horror story of mad cow disease, which I believe you can become a zombie by eating a hamburger made from zombie cows

…Hannah is wonderful, articulate and …wonderful as a spokesthing and a person too!

      • ivy says:

yes prions and Crutchfeld Jacobs disease but for zombie cow wouldnt the cow have to bite you?

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

the real question should be, ‘what bit the cow….to turn them into zombie cows!’

          lol

          • ivywalker says:

so for example in Night of the Living Dead? what’s responsible for all of those zombies?

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah! damit it! who’s zombie zero!!

              • ivywalker says:

you know me I have to know this stuff I cant stop until I do… so this is from Wiki Night of the Living Dead….” Experts, scientists, and the United States military do not know the cause, though one scientist believes the cause to be radioactive contamination from a space probe returning from Venus that exploded in the Earth’s atmosphere.” Frickin’venutian cows!

                • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

lol… that explains the slow motion walking thing! everyone from Venus moves slowly… ’cause of the foggy atmosphere, ya know

  4. valj2750 says:

Clearly those skinny cows have been participating, but not reporting their two mile runs each day. Question – do you wear your seatbelt when you are driving? What was that dinging in the background?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

…that was Una! she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt (and apparently is balancing on the 50 pound weight range)

      • ivywalker says:

00 tell the truth! Don’t pretend you were wearing your seatbelt, Farley!

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I’m hurt and saddened by your lack of confidence in my respect for the rules that are there for my safety and well-being…. well, no, I was not wearing seat belt

          lol

          • ivywalker says:

Its gonna hurt a lot more if you hit the windshield!

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah but if I got stuck by a jammed seat belt and slow motion zombie cows had time to get me as I struggle with the belt release… I’d feel pretty foolish, wouldn’t I?

  5. valj2750 says:

I had to watch the Hannah commercial to find out what else she was selling.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      “…what else…”

what, what else? She is simply the best available spokesperson for a large multinational communications company! clearly!

      lol

  6. christine says:

el. oh. el. Ah, Clark. You make me smile.

I do not recognize the commercial. I’ll have to watch it later, though, as I’m in the same room where my family is blaring a golf match. (That doesn’t sound right. Is it a match?)

I am completely impressed by you 2 mile a dayers. Who cares what your time is? You’re doing it!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      (smiles)
…but running is so boring! if it weren’t for Kristi and Val and alex continuing on, I doubt if I would still be doing it. (But, if the truth be known, this running thing? it’s not (for me) about getting healthy, it’s for me not getting old)

…if that makes any sense to you, and given that you are here, I have no doubt that (it) does.

  7. We’re going to be at a wedding next Saturday, so I won’t be there for the TToT Live. But I’ll be thinking of you all for sure :-) The commercial is indeed funny.. Thanks for sharing :-) But I somehow still like cat videos better!

Have a great week ahead, Clark!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

You know (and I think I made this same suggestion to someone who was either: a) going to a wedding or christening or 2) going in for surgery) you could take us with you! no, serially! just open the link and point out the interesting scenes and such… that would be very cool

we’ll be thinking of you as well!

  8. dyannedillon says:

I am woefully behind on blog reading and have missed the whole 2 mile run. Is this running like your walks with Una? I could sign on for something like that, but I’m only going to run if something is chasing me and then only enough to run faster than you.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      (I love that joke!)
no, it’s kinda like running but it’s more about the 2 Miles. All we do is set out to cover 2 Miles every day of the week (with Sunday off) and post our elapsed time(s). I call the blog the 2 Mile Run because it sounds better than ‘the 2 Mile Jog… the 2 Mile walk…. or, in my case, ‘the 2 Mile walk… jog for a bit and then stagger for a while until the lungs manage to get more that 16 molecules of oxygen out of the lungs into the heart and legs’)
join us! go to the site and you’ll see that we just post photos of our times. only requirement is that it be 2 Miles… but if it takes you 60 minutes or 20 minutes…doesn’t matter and, and! it does not require a commitment ….do it when the mood strikes you (send in your photo) and we’ll post your time!

  9. Kristi says:

My favorite (maybe not running now, but has within the last year) commercial:
    [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnVuqfXohxc&w=560&h=315%5D
    (I hope this embeds correctly.)

  10. May says:

Ah, it has been far too long since I have gotten to join you and Una on a nice long walk. Beautiful day for it too. Those stretches of stone wall/fence are so picturesque. Thanks for taking us along. This is way more my speed than the 2 mile run!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

mine too…. lol It was interesting, her reaction to the cows… as long as they weren’t moving she was fine… but instincts are instincts!

  11. Vanessa D. says:

I don’t have cable anymore, but when I did it was always the weird shows that caught my attention. I once spent an entire Saturday watching people get their bad tatoos made into nice ones. Hoarders was another one that used to completely suck me in. Now we have Netflix instead and when I’m not doing all the things at home, I can binge watch an entire series with the best of them.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

in that case! (lol) our most recent favorite (no longer running) is ‘The Finder’ on netflix definitely an interesting series

  12. Pat Brockett says:

Kristi gave me your link. I tried to get to your blog from your reply on my blog, but it wasn’t the one with your TTofT post.

Unfortunately, running isn’t something I do, unless you count running in circles.

I’m a big fan of shows on public broadcasting, nature shows, documentaries, Antique Roadshow, and genealogy shows, but I actually enjoy it when the TV is off too. Quiet is nice at times. My husband usually has the remote and flips to another channel when the commercials come on.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

well, if you running in a total of 2 Miles (of circles) …come on and join us! (The Run in ‘the 2 Mile Run’ is actually ‘traverse’… cover the 2 Miles and you are one of us! It’s totally not how fast you cover the distance…as my own personal times demonstrate).

…your husband probably shares my frustration with the fact that advertisers realize that we won’t sit there for commercials and more and more all the channels ‘go to commercial’ pretty much at the same time! ayiiee!

  13. amycake76 says:

I thought the first one was funnier, but they were both quite amusing. I don’t watch commercials since I record almost everything I watch to watch later–then fastforward through the commercials.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

smart move… we don’t watch enough to motivate us to learn the recording thing, when we do watch tv together (say on Sunday evening) we’ve found ourselves going to Netflix for ‘The Finder’ series which has the commercials removed.

  14. I am still new here, so just getting up to speed….what is this 2 mile club?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

It’s kinda like a running/jogging support group thing, a few of us decided that we would benefit by getting out and ‘running’ and so naturally, I thought, well! lets do a blog it’s called the 2 Mile Run and how we participate is to submit our elapsed times each day that we run. We’d love to have you join us, the only requirement is that the distance be 2 miles. The elapsed time is the relative measure of how we (each) experience the concept of ‘Run’ ( If I get to doing a t shirt, I suspect it will read: 2 Mile Run* *walk, jog, sprint, amble get from Point A and stop 2 miles later at Point B, saunter and/or traverse)

  15. I am always thankful for the TToT in general. Truly. So much good has come from it for me.
