Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

"jeez, I really thought I was starting to understand this blog, then this!"

“jeez, I really thought I was starting to understand this blog, now this!”

Apologies, in advance, to all Readers with a predominant scottian or rogerian worldview, (to paraphrase Solozzo to McClusky: ‘I’m going to speak clark to Kristi’). Today’s Post will not make a lot of sense. As a matter of fact, if you persist in reading, you scotts  will become angry and  rogers(?)…well, you will become upset, in a manner that seems like impatience, but is actually genuine concern. But, hey, what can I say?

Alert Reader Kristi writes:

I did the lame Clark Monday today, ………………………….. a school phone call…an apology… (….I’d rather have slept) to then Tucker’s bus being in a minor (everybody is fine) accident on the way to school…I did the total just read thing, did not go into work even though I was planning on it…and had to actually lay down for 20 minutes when today caught up with me, in the worst of ways. Fuck. I’m such a Clark. I love it but yeah.

Good call on posting all of the tittie pics because even I was like WTF until I maybe (I think I hope) got it. Are you saying we got uglier? ……..! YIKES. ALSO HOLY FUCK I just realized I never sent you the TSHIRT photo because…… made me look bad in the photo. hang On. I’m going to find it anyway. We were at Outer Banks, for Tucker’s bday….

It will have to be another day. I…sigh…

Well, thank you Kristi!

…thank you Kristi, for your Comment. We clarks have the ability to recognize in other clarks, things and qualities and such that we are not as quick to see in ourselves. Which is not so bad, as, even when we do, (recognize it in ourselves), we’re all like, ‘yeah, but that’s different, what are ya gonna do…no, I can handle it’.  clarks have this astonishing quality of  ‘selflessness’ that borders on the pathological. seriously. (Seeing how, if you’re still reading this, you already know about clarks and the Wakefield Doctrine, I can simply skip the next 432 words about how we take pride in our capacity to endure the onslaught of self-criticism and despair, pretty much because we think that, even though we would rather not feel like the worst life form on the planet, the one thing worse than (feeling like the worst life form on the planet), is to have everyone around us point and say, ‘hey!! don’t feel bad just because you’re the worst life form that has ever been on the planet!! we  knew that all along and have just been tolerating you!’)

ya know?

(why  yes! I do agree with a helping approach like the above, it’s only a matter of time before the world beats a path to your doorstep, clark!  with pitchforks, torches and totally justified outrage.  lol)

hey kristi. the best thing about this Doctrine thing these days is your comment today. I see a person loved and respected, someone who does good for family and friends and even though these words will sound… (like that), I know that you are a clark and I am a clark and you will manage to get through this so, when the time comes for me to feel as you did yesterday (and it will) I have a reason to hope.

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    Roger? Roger is that you?
Clark ,you have been practicing again! Nice job!

  3. Ohhhh roger, you wrote a LOVE thing…

Wow! I *definitely* saw a Feel slip out up there! Congratumanylations ;)

      why thank you

(as all us involved in the learning and practice of the Wakefield Doctrine) will recognize, I did not write today’s Post trying to channel my rogerian aspect (at least not consciously)… the effect is there… but it’s funny, I wrote it, it ‘read true’… I did not get a very rogerian vibe from the words… everything around here is helpful and useful and instructive and such… very cool

Ah hem. Ok I’m back. This might be the best post you’ve ever written. Ok not, but it’s my personal favorite because it’s ABOUT ME. Me. You like me. You get me. You understand me. I like that. And you. Because yeah, those days. Those days they come and we are the worst people on the planet until we’re actually not because we have this whole tribe of amazing Somebodys who get it and get us and like us because of, and in spite of, ourselves.

This Wakefield thing is pretty fucking awesome, yo.

      Kristi

the Doctrine is indeed, pretty fucking awesome
I know my negative qualities and traits and all, all by myself… but my positive qualities I can see only in another clark… as a result, when it comes to getting something from this here Doctrine here, there is no pressure on any clark to do something/get involved/work-the-system/or do any other fuckin thing, in order to benefit… it is up to us as individuals (as it must be with us) to decide what and when and how much we are willing to ‘take’ for ourselves today’s Post was an example, it was not just saying a good thing about you, it was ‘taking from you’ a good thing about you (a clark) for myself (another clark). ya know?

…and and! especially ‘those days’ (Lizzi likes ‘the cold dark place’) It is something that all clarks have to contend with and is easily the most difficult and dangerous place for us clarks (or anyone) to be in… we I get nothing more from the Wakefield Doctrine than the knowledge that other clarks get through that place… I am way the hell ahead of the game

god we clarks is weird, non?

      • findingninee says:

“My positive qualities I can see only in another Clark” is perhaps the most brilliant and observant sentence I’ve ever read. Ever. God, I wish they taught this Wakefield thing in third grade when I needed it so badly. Or in seventh, when I needed it more. Or in ninth. Or, smacked me on the head with it in college when I was sure I was the only one who Got Life the Only Way it is.
And it was saying something good about me, even though you are broadening it and making it yours and that’s fucking awesome but I like that it was a teeny tiny bit about me because hello – to quote from the official Doctrine….well, um, insert your favorite “I’m justified and important even though I’m convinced I’m an utter loser” quote here.

We Clarks ARE, indeed, weird. But awesome, important, and amazing, too.

  6. Psst….guys….the clark’s words, rogerian? No, not quite.
With the exception of prettyjeanjean, we’re all clarks here (as I leave this comment) Read it again:)
No one knows a clark better than another clark.
Yes, Kristi the Wakefield thing is pretty fucking awesome.

Brevity is my failing this evening…..

      Denise

I think I know what you mean…but I think the confusion might be arising between the notion of rogerian and the qualities of the rogerian worldview… and it is clear that we need to refresh our understanding of the nature and character of the rogerian worldview.
I think that Lizzi and zoe were using the term roger to designate a quality to the Post that was more emotionally grounded (than the majority of Posts that I write)… and even saying that I do not see it (the Post) or their intention (in using that term) as being a deliberate effort to couch in emotional terms a thought or opinion or even a feeling… it might be more better to use the term rogerian aspect, which of course, I have (as does everyone) that has inherent in it the capability/capacity to manifest as the expressing….
lol well, at least it’s easy to tell when I not being rogerian… lol
but yes, I was being a clark and yet I was expressing feelings and therefore emotion… but hey lets get back to the ‘source’:

we’re actually not because we have this whole tribe of amazing Somebodys who get it and get us and like us because of, and in spite of, ourselves.
This Wakefield thing is pretty fucking awesome, yo.

      true dat
