too cold outside the Wakefield Doctrine (yeah, lets rummage through some old Posts, up in the metaphorical attic)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

"…it's ten past seven!"

“…it’s ten past seven!”

lets just throw caution, grammar, syntax and any and all semblance of good prose to the wind and learn some shit about our favorite personality theory.

so, whats the deal with:

  • rogers and alarm clocks? they (the rogers, not the alarm clocks) will set them (the alarm clocks, not the rogers) too early and then wake up and hit the ‘snooze’ button until the following day, dinner or you (a clark) stand there and ask, in a calm voice, ‘when will you be getting up?’, which will be ignored and the wake-up-annoying-alarm sounds-hit-snooze-button cycle continues on and on
  •  out there today? you will spot the rogers first, the scotts second (except that you will be wrong the first time but right there after) and the clarks last.
  • clarks are trying to be noticeable by blending in, rogers are all, the center of the herd and scotts are just plain fuckin hungry
  • if you feel like you want to tell someone about the Wakefield Doctrine and how much… (sense it makes, which means you are a clark) or (fun it is, which makes you a scott) or (everyone will get a laugh about the people you got it from, …rogers) then you need to take certain…precautions. If you’re a clark, and you are dealing with friends in a social setting  tell your scottian friend, but make them earn it, if you’re at home (or otherwise with family), pick a roger, tell them and then find another clark and tell them (you’ll know why this is important, when the time comes)
  • tip on determining your own worldview (or anyone else’s, for that matter)…eliminate the ‘no frickin way they’re a….clark/scott/roger  and that will leave you two worldviews to compare and contrast
  • wanna hear something funny?  the two worldviews you have left?  you’ll have to decide between: a scott and a roger
  • yes Miss zoe?  I see your hand up, why certainly you may ask
  • ok.. we’ll come back later today and add to the list

So we were talking on the last Wakefield Doctrine Friday ‘just-happen-to-catch-me-home-I’m-always-being-asked-out-by-friends-on-Friday-night, really’ Video Chat and we got to talking about video Posts. A number of great ideas…potential projects and such (yeah  Christine, I did say that, but don’t know if I can promise the seatbelt thing), the biggest hurdle with this kind of blogging is in the post production, editing and such. Naturally, I’ve tried my hand at this in the early days (yeah, sorry guys…but there is very little I haven’t tried, nothing that I have not been willing to attempt all in the service of increasing ‘follower-ship’). Below is my attempt to present the Doctrine with an example from the worldview.

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Haha. I LOVED that video…pointing out the clark, scott and roger. Never knew Kelly was a scott, but makes perfect sense. And Regis? Already dismissed him as a lecherous bastard…HAHA…does that make me a clark? LMAO

      Cyndi

Kristen is such a clark! she even does the clarklike ‘smile’ (press the lips together… slight up-turn of the corners of the mouth…no! not too much! )

plus… if there are any traditionalists in the house… how passive/aggressive is that? sure the lips are pressed together… the better to hint at the teeth!! lol

Ahahaa!!!! I was up and ready to rock in the dark this morning. I was getting my disabled son ready for work, It was insanely cold here but he HAS to go, or the place where he works doesn’t like it, as they do not get paid. So I make sure he is warm and comfortable and send him in. As he is a SCOTT, he rocks it! My wonderful son!
Snooze button? We don’t know the meaning of the word!
I would like to ask you a question: who is your hero?
    Thanks,

    jenyjh

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      great question!!

      …any other questions?

      lol

      • jny_jeanpretty says:

Yes but I get the picture. You are not going to tell me. More funny than you know! You guys are totally cracking me up! Thank you!

          juhnay

Well, we enjoy that… scotts are fun like that.

(actually, since you insist) the difficulty I have in answering that question is that with a concept like ‘hero’ I totally start thinking, what do you mean by ‘hero’ (No!! Christine!! come back!! I promise not to get all…. clarklike lol) here’s the deal: clark have ideals and examples of the personification of qualities we would like to have…but we don’t naturally identify with people… scotts they naturally identify what you might be referencing with the word ‘hero’ but it’s a pack thing.. clearly dominate and (at the same time) related in some manner to the scott’s world. Finally are the rogers… you ever wonder who the hell suggests statues of people be erected in public places?… somewhere everywhere are bridges and tall buildings named after people (mostly guys…mostly politicians)…and highways and parades and everything else… behind it all: rogers.

          no surprises, right?

hey how did you like the video?

          • zoe says:

consider the source of this question…do you EVER stop the analysis? Z

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

              lol

              what I hear you saying…

but, ….but!! she asked! I had to answer, it’s not my fault the answer is, at least in terms of the Wakefield Doctrine, the answer is no (but, it is nothing like work, plus, as I was discussing with Lizzi last week, anything anyone (with a basic understanding of the Doctrine) says about… this person is a scott, that activity is rogerian…anything, I will learn more about the Doctrine.

              ..yeah, doing it again, huh?

              • zoe says:

Yup…and I bet your favorite color is plaid.

                • jny_jeanpretty says:

I watched a bunch of the videos. I was glad to see that clark actually does notice STOP signs when it is raining Plus of course I like the videos in general because I get to look around at things.
At one point I thought he was using a fake background (like having a fake dashboard with a hat on it in front of a green screen and just pretending to drive) because everything looks the same ALL the time and it could have been a looping film. However the rain one was totally different. This was good because I hate being tricked..Or it was a good touch.

(for your consideration… definitely do not show Christine this one)

but in answer to your questions… a lot of them look exactly alike because (in the last year or 2, I’ve doing the tapes on my way into the office) but above is a tape from our Saturday Drives and below is from one of my Doctrine roadtrips

  3. Right about the Rogers…the ones afraid to lose! Very Singaporean too!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Michelle

afraid to lose = appear less than (rogers) afraid to lose = have Outsider status locked in and public (clarks) afraid to lose = does not apply (scotts) lol

  4. christine says:

I need to go back and check if you ever actually answered my seatbelt question…
The videos are quite helpful in explaining the difference between the worldviews. Much easier to see it and understand than read it and understand.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Christine

thanks for that input… it makes sense, i.e. preference for objective demonstration/evidence/example If you come across any videos (out in the internet) in which you see good examples of any of the three, let me know!

  5. Kristi says:

Alarm clock snooze buttons? Some rogers, perhaps, but certainly not all. I’ve never understood snooze buttons. Why interrupt good sleep when I could have stayed asleep for another 10 minutes? When the alarm goes off, I’m usually instantly awake.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

I totally get that! It’s like, ok… you will end up ‘snoozing’ for another 40 minutes…in 5 minute segments, wouldn’t it have made more sense to set the alarm for another 40 minutes and sleep straight through?

as far clarks go, I’d like to hear from other clarks on the matter of ‘sense of time’ when it comes to hours and minutes (as opposed to months and years, that’s a whole ‘nother matter altogether), I can wake up at any time I set ‘in my head’ when I go to sleep… no alarm needed. anyone else with this totally … useful? talent?

      • zoe says:

        Yup…..got it.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          cool

weird huh? (I have to make a specific, concerted effort before falling asleep…but once ‘done’ wake it set).

          • zoe says:

no effort. I will usually wake within 15 minutes of any time I need to wake. I swear I sleep in a semi conscious state.

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

big time ‘light sleeper’ my own self (most of the time)… sometimes instant sleep no waking, but that’s the exception, rather than the rule.

      • Kristi says:

OK, maybe sleep is one of those things where my secondary clark comes out. I fall asleep instantly, and generally stay asleep, but when it is time to wake up, I usually wake up just a minute or two before the alarm goes off.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          cool

we have a saying, everyone who comes to the Doctrine is either predominately a clark or have a secondary clarklike aspect. we say this because the clarklike aspect accounts for curiosity… (I know what you’re thinking, “Balderdash! I’m curious!” lol yes, but remember ‘everyone does everything at one time or another’ which means all three possess the quality of curiosity… the key is ‘how is it manifested’… clarks are curious for no reason, require no ‘pay-off’ and are curious even when they don’t care. rogers and scotts are curious about the world, in service of their worldviews…rogers are always looking for new and better ways to learn the right way to do things, scotts are curious about the motion in the underbrush, the passing shadow…in other words they are drawn to anything that makes them better, more successful predators.
clarks are curious to find their missing part.

thank you for sharing that… having that clarklike quality. we have much to learn and you know what we say, ‘take notes!’
