TToTwenny ..the Wakefield Doctrine (…and the beat goes on)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

TheWakefieldDoctrine

This is Satyrday October 19, 2013. This is the 20th weekend of ‘Thankful’, the bloghop that gives blog writers, and other inhabitants of the virtual world, a place to go on weekends that is not: sports related, strictly for men, women only, a place to show your appreciation to Bristol Myers Squibb for creating medicines for a better life, Catholic or Shinto only, the place to get the latest scores, the place to score, the place to pick up chicks. … (this blog) is: mostly free of photos of people in oddly compromising situations, cute photos of kittens fighting with common household appliances, illustrations of the best way to get your snow-blower ready for the coming winter and easy-to-follow charts of the most exotic spots on the human body.
…what this bloghop is: a place to share the good and the bad with other people, people who have the emotional stature to be comfortable sharing parts of their life, a fun place where Comments grow off of Posts and everyone is invited, a place to read good news and bad news, in other words, a bloghop as it is intended to be.. this is the Ten Things of Thankful

Today, for reasons not yet fully appreciated, my contribution to the TToT has the emotional impact of a graduate level term paper on the economic ramifications of the Foreign Policy of James Madison (1809-1817). But, it being Saturday, no telling what will happen later in this here day here.

So, if you are new to this bloghop and this is your first or second stop, click immediately on: AFOOCCW or re written or Considerings (where it all began) …then, a little later in the day, you might want to stop by, trust me on this.

Grateful this week for:

1) well, come on! it’s a photo of a Wakefield Doctrine docTee being worn in Vatican Square!

2) having two ‘easy’ gratitude items for my list

3) winning some sort of Contest, one that I didn’t realize I had entered… Janine, actually had to IM me on ‘the Facebook’ to get information so she could arrange to have the Gift Certificate sent to my RL house!

4) being halfway through the Saturday Ten without having to resort to ‘the weird’ (well, almost through to the halfway point)

5) having a couple of days in the preceding week where I managed to focus on my scottian secondary aspect, it proved to have the effect of increasing the ‘intensity’ of my efforts, a good thing, given the nature of the interaction

6) for seeing that Lizzi has settled into her new job, worked hard on her Dyanne project and came through it all  with a minimum of bruising (figurative, metaphorical and probably, a little…literal)

7) seeing a Comment from people what have not Commented at the Doctrine before…always fun to read the tentative enjoyment of something they think is for real, but are not sure enough to fully commit to a ‘hey interesting personality theory’

8) knowing Melanie who lives down in South Africa, because I got a call from a client I had not spoken to in a few years and in the course of the conversation he mentioned working for a bank based in Cape Town and I was able to say, “hey, I have a friend who lives down there, very interesting place”…etc  that it is virtual did not detract in the slightest from the benefit of a (semi) common experience

9) the still-not-frickin-freezin weather

10) seeing friends develop they skills in the writing thing, to wit: Janine and Kristi and the others in the book: The Mother of All Meltdowns  and our own Lizzi and them in the book: ‘Sunshine After the Storm’

Thats it for now. (New Readers? the Wakefield Doctrine says simply that there are three characteristic worldviews (personal realities) that we all live our lives in, we all have one ‘predominant worldview’ but retain the potential of the other two, these are the world of the Outsider (clarks), the Predator (scotts) and the Herd (rogers). The goal is to infer how a person is relating themselves to the world around them.

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    FIRST?!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      zoe

yes, first (and the secret Prize for being first is: a Wakefield Doctrine Official docTee!! some restrictions may apply)

  2. zoe says:

Woohoo… although not as cool as the T-shirt in Vatican Square…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      zoe

…about the restrictions: we used to call them ‘nearly free docTees’ but my ability to convey the subtle inference as only a suggestion and not a demand was wanting, so I stopped. As you see in the photo, those who have shirts are asked if they are able to photograph said Doctrine shirt in front of some famous and/or interesting landmark or local feature of interest. And, while we have stopped doing the Wakefield Doctrine hats (“for your damn head”)… we still claim the Rite of Hat ( solidly grounded in the un-assailable power of ‘The Treaty of Tordesillas‘ the link will take you to the first post)

…in any event, if you are inclined to do so, a photo is welcome (photo-phobes and/or clarks are permitted the use of Tee Shirt doubles)

will need your mailing address (lets just use the email address on Lizzi’s notification email…lol)

      • zoe says:

Hoopla… would a little furry substitute in front of the round barn do??? It is at the shaker village … I live in one of their old barns … its been moved and renovated… So I figure I have a sort of affilitation there. Okay so I use that as the excuse to release the mice there that I catch in the winter… good Buddhist wont kill the little suckers! Never know if youre gonna take out a relative!

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          zoe

If I thinking correctly of what you are thinking (a metaphysical absurdity* fer sure*) as to docTee models, I will say excellent notion wish you luck (will watch for your email for mailing address)

  3. Second person, third comment. So goes the verse…I’m Henry the 8th I am, Henry the 8th I am, I am…
I don’t know why I felt the need to sing that just now. Perhaps it’s the coursework I started at 7 am this morning…
It could be the random email from a guy I dated in college 14 years ago apologizing for his rude behavior….yeah, there’s some random story there, too…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Cyndi

“…the random email from a guy I dated in college 14 years ago apologizing for his rude behavior….yeah, there’s some random story there, too…”

…he’s a roger who is in the process of getting a divorce from his scottian wife! ( you know I love the Doctrine and believe in it, but I am not sure I want to know, if my Doctrineguess is correct…lol)

  4. Truly my pleasure on the giveaway. Seriously was so happy that you had won it and just sorry I didn’t know that the contact had trouble getting in touch with you sooner. As soon as I found out I messaged you, because you won fair and square and now can’t wait for you to get the gift card to use. Also, thank you for the shout out on the book that Kristi and I contributed to. Just so excited to be a part of it and see all the wonderful reviews we are getting. And, lastly I love that the Doctirne T-shirt is being worn at the Vatican. That just blew my mind and made my Saturday complete! Awesome and congrats ont hat for sure. Happy Saturday and have a great weekend, my friend!! :)

  5. Got to say that the intro sort of blew me away..yes, it’s a hop free of that! Thanks for sharing, Clark, and have a great weekend.

  6. Love the photo. Nice list. And yay to not-fricking-freezing weather!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lisa

yeah, huh? (there’s an old joke where the punchline is ” yeah, but who’s the guy with Fred?”) (my brain makes that funny in relation to the docTee photo)

  7. Louise says:

Any insight on whether to Vatican visiting shirt wearer was a Clark, Scott or a Roger? Either way – very cool picture :) And agreed on the publishing – inspiring! As for the economic ramifications of James Madison… I’m taking intro to economics up here in Canada and we haven’t covered that yet. Is that in the second year course?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Louise

Alas! we do not know (sure to become a figure of mystery and controversy in the annals of Doctrine history someday…”they say they have proof that Elvis was still alive, why else would they have not identified themselves?”).

The Official story: an associate of mine, Sally has a daughter who is touring Europe as part of her studies (tres cool, that!), but that is not her in the photo, so a body double was apparently (which is permissible under the secret Rules of nearly free Wakefield Doctrine docTees subchapter: clarks)

however, since we are on the topic of identifying personality types, lets use this as an illustration of accepted techniques. The first thing to do is throw out the obvious ‘not a… no way they a…’ this is usually pretty straight forward. Since we don’t have enough to go on, I will say that I will suggest that this is not a clark… for reasons of posture. One of the primary physical characteristics of clarks (in particular the male species) is a tendency to a rounded set to the shoulders, a slouch, if you will…acquired from a years of getting hit in the back of the head by rubber bands, spit balls, and the dreaded, nearly lethal ‘double sprung paperclip earlobe snapping thing’*. Even as adults clarks will present a certain withdrawn, defensive posture to the world.
So Lousie, we probably have either a scott or a roger… need more to further identify

*usually made by rogers (showing at an early age their natural engineering talent) but employed, or at very least deployed by scotts

      • Louise says:

Huh. Based on this description, I don’t think I want to be a Clark…..

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          Louise

hey, it’s not a bad reality!! really! (lol) we do things (alone) we have fun (in our heads)…we go out with friends (again and again), we dress….eclectically tempted? here’s one of our simpler ‘tests’ for identifying a clarklike worldview: ‘when I wake up in the morning, I take stock of the past, sneak a glimpse of the future…but my relationship to the world around me is: I am ‘here’ and the world is ‘out there’

(if you are serious about your desired worldview, you so do not want to say ‘I get that!’ lol

of course, if you do not identify with this statement, that leaves you with the world of the Predator (scotts) and the world of the Herd (rogers)

oh yeah! remember we all have one predominant worldview, but retain the other two as potential, just in case you get stuck thinking you are both a scott and a roger or a mutation of them…not to worry, perfectly normal

  8. So instead we have photos of people in uncompromising conditions, no idea how to get your snow blower ready for winter, and graphic charts of the least exotic spots on the human body? Who knew?

Was the ‘some competition’ the BIG MONEY PRIZE? In which case WOW and well done and congrats on such an awesome win. In fact, who cares what it was – you WON :D That’s such a great thing to happen :)

Thank you so much for the shout out for the book :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lizzi

It is a gift certificate (slogan: this gift is exactly what you want!). I will display when it arrives…hell, chances are, I’ll get a whole Post out of it! lol (thanks again Janine!)

there’s an idea…. the graphic charts of the least exotic spots on the human…. wait.a.minute a Post: ‘What part of your body do you find most boring?’

      lol what do you think?

  9. You say the Dyanne Project like I’m a work in progress.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Dyanne

(ok clark, relax… you have time to look it up, she doesn’t have to know that you sometimes lose track of Comments…better hope it’s not a Comment on another Post…she’s one of those multi-taskers be just like her to hit you with a comment from left field)

oh hi! I didn’t see this Comment, give us a moment, could you?

lol (running out to Wakefield for the Call-in (yes, I do have to actually be driving around the town to make it work… well….because!))

    • Dearest scott, thy name art egocentricity – the ‘Dyanne Project’ was MY work in progress (now accomplished) for surely tha’art all the wonderous today thou wilt ever be…? For tomorrow will hold its own wonder.

      *rolls eyes* :p

  10. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I know this!! the ‘Dyanne project’? that was in the Post today!

    (hah! you thought I didn’t know…didn’t cha?)

  11. christine says:

As for your intro, I can’t agree that this hop isn’t sports related. Besides the fact that Janine, Dyanne, Kris, and I can be counted on at least one list which includes sports, getting around to all of these lovely posts is a sport in itself! Except it is a lovely sport like cross country, where everyone can do well and there are no crazy, pushy parents to make us miserable.

I’m with you on the rest of it, though. (Well, except for the chart of the body. Don’t remember ever seeing that one. I am in no way saying I want to, either. :) )

    Congrats on the big win!

And for making yet another orderly, numbered list. :)

Good for you, working on that most wonderful scottian side this week.

Very cool to see your shirt in Vatican square! It also made me realize I didn’t take the photo of me in front of anything. Blast. I’ll get right on that.

    See you around the hop!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Christine

(…damn! where the hell is my Brandi Chastain calendar….I know there is a photo or two that will get me in half-trouble here!)

ahem! I agree and disagree. Yours and FireGurl Dyanne’s and Janine and Kristi’s Posts do include information about sports, but they are about you… your participation at and by and for (the) sports event. I read (them) because you tell me about yourself and that is why we are all reading these things…to expand our lives (clark for ‘sharing’). I mean seriously, how (fill in adjective favored by ‘real people’ for ‘wonderfully life affirming’) was the story about from Dyanne about her dressing up for her class (ok, maybe not sports per se) or your Team dinner story…sure it was a sports dinner, but it was very much a story about the unique thing that is family.

thank you for the ‘atta boy’ for my efforts at the scottian aspect. the thing about the Doctrine is (for clarks, anyway) it’s a way to self-improve ourselves and, no matter how harrowing we make it sound, it is what we do. It is a given that for scotts and rogers ‘self-improvement is not really anything they have an interest in, being pretty decently function humans already.

    • Did you notice that the guy in the Wakefield shirt seems to have had his head pierced by an obelisk?

  12. Jak says:

Seems you get to win another prize, as well, which is the first to receive my glowing “presence” in written form. Normally I would visit Christine first, cause I’ve known her the longest, and she may take offense, but I’m certain once she realizes I was threatened “Hey dude, mentioned you in one of my comments…” she will understand and refrain from unleashing her wrath.

I like the intro, and while I may it may not be my first rodeo, I may feel like a born-again virgin. Unfortunately the roaming part of the blog hop may be fairly short lived. I’ll try my best.

I disagree about it being a sport, because trying to run from blog to blog marathon style is kind of sport-like… it creates and endless echoing loop of “You’re killin’ me, Smalls!” in my head.

Otherwise, the intro was pretty sweet! Kudos!

Also, congrats on the prize! Curious as to what you won, and I’m sure I’ll have to stay tuned like the rest of the folks, so I hope I don’t miss it.

Not sure if you get notified when I reply to comments via my posts, but I was curious if anyone ever mentioned your site is somewhat difficult to navigate when searching for past posts? Or if maybe it’s just me. It’s probably just me…

That’s great to have that “common experience” take place, transcending circumstances of being “online” and such.

Almost forgot, it was great seeing that pic, looking forward to more being taken at more locations!

Jak at The Cryton Chronicles & Dreams in the Shade of Ink

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Jak

      very excellent!

warning, am writing this as I get hyped up to do some ‘day off activities’ i.e. high profile tasks like clean second story windows… so my viewpoint is drifting into the slightly all-over-the-place-lots-of-energy-no-real-thought…you know, scottian!

hey…big topic coming up of interest to clarks (not saying you’re a clark…Secret Rule 1.6 does not permit that), but for any clarks out there, I will go on record as saying, ‘the difficulty and risk to self-inproving oneself is not the huge effort to ‘do the un’doable’ it is dealing with success. and I don’t mean major life changing, ‘why clark, I hardly recognized you!’ self-improvement… no! I mean, (“shit, no one around to help guess I can take a chance….damn! it worked!!! holy maybe I’m not such a….”) that kind of sucess. For clarks, there is a backlash effect that is a) unpleasant and 2) semi-dangerous (to us people). Michelle aptly noted that the effect we are talking about in these situations comes not from the ‘new behavior’, i.e. me acting like a scott for a little while, rather it comes from my predominant clark resisting…something.

anyway! the window and the ladder and the orthopedists are waiting…I’ll be back later,

    • christine says:

No, I’m not offended. You boys need to stick together in this here blog hop. However, I do expect second reading. :)

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

        Christine

lol…that is a good thing… and yeah, one of the cool things about the TToT is that (over the course of the weekend) you can go back again and again and there will be something new every time!

  13. Interesting that many of your thankfuls are actually for other people’s achievements, but I totally agree. Love the Doctrine in the Vatican. Should get it and take it to places ;-)

Hope you have a great new week!

  14. Kristi says:

Congratulations on your win, even if you didn’t realize you entered.

  15. Congrats on winning the contest you didn’t even know you’d entered. That’s the best. I enter lots of them and never win a thing, so you’ve surpassed my capabilities. :)

And the Wakefield T-shirt in Vatican Square…you are truly world-renowned. Congrats on that as well. :)

And yes, big congrats to Lizzi for her 5K Fundraising run AND her compliation book being published. Many kudos to her…very much agreed.

Thanks for sharing your list with us…have a fabulous week! :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kris

tt I am glad that Janine was thoughtful and got in touch with me about the info to send the gift cert. Will surely have a Post on it.

      …you too.

  16. Congratulations on your wiin – always wonderful to win things you didn’t even known you’d entered! lol. Lovely that your list included Janine, Kristi and Lizzi. Thanks for explaining the Wakefield Doctrine. I had never heard of it before. I’m pretty sue I’m a Clark :)

  17. The T-Shirt picture is so cool! Awesome!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I totally agree..was a full-on surprised when I got it! (I gave to a the daughter of an associate at work), knowing that she was traveling but then sort of put it out of mind.
