“You have a unique perspective on personality and behavior…now what the hell?” the Wakefield Doctrine it’s really rather simple

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

At some point in your day today, you will be with other people. It might be at school, it could be at work, it’ll possibly even be when you are at the gym or out to do the shopping for the week’s groceries. And in the middle of whatever it is you are doing, eating lunch with your friends in the cafeteria or sitting in the break room for morning coffee or perhaps you take a minute while standing in line at the supermarket, the thought will occur to you, “those Wakefield Doctrine people said this might happen, that I would think about them… why oh why? didn’t I finish that damn Post?!”

Well, today being Valentine’s Day, here is our gift to you. Just one catch! no, it does not involve closing your eyes, nor does it require faking an enthusiastic response…just this:  you need to know which of the three personality types is your predominant worldview, clark or scott or roger* Follow along below in the block quote and you will totally have a different day.

clarks: we have probably caught you at school or work. No! don’t laugh, you are alone at your computer and real people do not, I repeat, do not laugh delightedly to themselves, trust me on this one. Anyway, since you are in a fairly restrictive environment, we will keep this exercise fairly simple. Find the nearest scott and tell them that you have this new, really cool thing about personality types, but it will have to wait until after work. Then stop talking! (This is the tricky part for you), do not elaborate and totally resist the urge to play it coy, hinting and such. Just stop and ignore the scott. And watch them, because after the scott you selected accepts the fact that you will not be telling them anymore, no matter how much they cajole or threaten or pretend to not care, the next person they talk to will be a roger! (Guaranteed)

scotts: go to your clarklike friend (you know who that is, the one that always has the great ideas but can’t get up the nerve to do it themselves and they’re really funny, but no one knows it but you) and tell them you have come across something really interesting (you can tell them it’s about personality theories, but trust us, it doesn’t matter, they will get all excited). Tell them that it is funny and you will tell the name of it or the website (your choice, you people are not big on the tech stuff, we understand) after work. Then watch them. The next person they talk to will be a roger.

rogers: you know what a pain in the ass you people can be? How it’s all, ‘well, isn’t that interesting?’ Well we know that you are very good at puzzle-solving, so here you go: you see the pattern in the previous two entries, right? Fill in the blanks for yourself and your situation, we know you can do it! (Well, all right. Seeing how you are not like the other rogers, we’ll give you this: write a Comment and we’ll answer one direct question to help you know who you should tell and who they will talk to first.)

Happy Executed-by-Archers-that-makes-him-a-Saint?!! Day

*don’t worry! (clarks) it’s ok to guess!  you know you’re good at guessing!  (scott?) you’re a scott and you know it!  (roger?) sorry, you’re not a scott, and we know it!

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    Let me set this post aside and just tell you that my RSS feed came up with one of your posts from June 24th. I read it, too. Didn’t comment but I think it’s damned funny you were talking about road trips. Tell me this: I decided with my husband last night that we are going to road-trip around North Carolina. No, we don’t have money for it; we’re just going to do it. Why? I need photographs, art fodder and just plain ol’ fun experiences. We usually try to do the “accepted” thing but we’re both inspired by a blog where this guy became a traveling artist and just “did it” one day. So, in my quest to be a writer, photographer and artist, my husband and I are going to jump in and go for it. We are the quintessential clarks, me thinks. Oh and Happy Valentine’s Day. Yeah, we celebrated that with a hike last weekend, LOL.

      @Cyndi

      (for the benefit of the ‘non-clarks’ reading this), the fun of the road trip is to find yourself in a new/different/interesting place…it is so not being a tourist or even ‘traveling’ (“oh, honey! there’s Niagara Falls!! take a picture’) lol In fact, I am in the process of trying to decide this year’s Wakefield Doctrine road trip (only have one this year)…I will be looking to you (and others) for feedback and suggestions..

  2. Damn! is right. But tell me this – why, why was the audience laughing during his intro? It was cool, sure. But funny? Has to be a Doctrine “explanation”. I know it:)

      @Denise

      Actually, since you did not see the youtube comments, the audience was a bunch of musicians with that laugh of ‘hole shit, did he just do a vibrato with that acoustic guitar?’ that kind of laughing

  3. Ah…makes sense.

    I like today’s post. A nice challenge to it:)
    I’m looking forward to a roger putting in their 2 cents worth. lol

    Clark – Good post! Unfortunately, I’m late as usual, it’s the day after Valentine’s Day and I am alone at my computer, and don’t plan on going anywhere all day. I know, “What an uncooperative ass!” What can I say? A day off, to me, is indeed a day off. Being forced to deal with people all week tends to bring out the occasional Roger in me, as I hibernate and catch up with the blogs I’ve been too busy to peruse. Now, tomorrow … well, tomorrow’s a different story …….
    Great job, my friend!
