‘you should have heard just what I seen’ the Wakefield Doctrine (Hey! look what we got! )

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Readers who have followed the Wakefield Doctrine for any length of time know that we strive for the un-expected, we  invite new experiences, and generally make an effort to boldly  go where no (clark or scott or roger ) has gone before. For example, we tried writing a Post with a decreasing amount of ‘traditional’ ‘punctuation, in ‘oh man, what is it now?‘,  we enjoyed a foray into the World of Fashion  and we even delved into the fascinating world of travel videos with our bi-annual Wakefield Doctrine Road Trips, like the one to the Colorado to claim (by Rite of Hat) the Overlook Hotel*

But we have never been nominated for an award.

Well, we were over to Friend of the Doctrine Cyndi’s blog, pictimilitude  the other day (as we do everyday) and we read,

“I have a whole list of people to whom I want to pass on this award.  They each deserve recognition and their blogs are worth a look….

…2. Clark – over at the Wakefield Doctrine.  You’ll especially love this if you have a “clark” personality – like I do.  Can you guess what personality Clark has?  His fascinating articles are always fun to read and I thoroughly enjoy them and I always learn something in the process.

Well, naturally our instinctive response was an eloquent acknowledgment of the honor of receiving such recognition. I believe our exacts words were, “damn!”  This was followed by briefly looking behind us, (to see if she meant another Wakefield Doctrine), finally, we announced to the world, ‘cool’.

But as I read Cyndi’s Post, something like a sense of impending doom began to grow, (like the sound of an ‘All Tuba Marching Band’ off in the distance, approaching your small and peaceful Town). Cyndi was presenting a list of 7 Items… about herself!…things that no one else would know!!!  Aiiyee…  frequent visitors (and fans of the Doctrine) will instantly recognize the natural affinity of a clark for disclosing personal information…lol  but there it was!   The challenge!  We talk about the Wakefield Doctrine as being (among other things) a tool for self-development and doing the things that you think you can’t do…  couldn’t very well refuse, now could I?

So, in the spirit of the Award and by way of a demonstration of the efficacy of the Wakefield Doctrine as a tool for self-development, here are 7 things about me that most lifeforms are not aware of:

  1. (…ok, lets skip that one), lol
  2. I spent a number of years as a commercial fisherman ( I possessed mad dock-lines skills, i.e. to throw the line over the piling as the boat approached the dock, like a cowboy, only much, much cooler lol)
  3. my wife and I have a dog, Una, who we imported from the Czech Republic. The entire process was done online, including ‘talking’ to the breeder (Jana)  using only google translator ( “my tree is tall, dogs they fly happily in America”)
  4. I lived on Sprite and egg noodles (with butter),  for more than 2 years (grad school years, ya know)
  5. I have discovered a truly unique and fun and effective technique for expressing ‘road rage’
  6. my forklift driving skills are very impressive (even though I do not possess genuine, stereoscopic depth perception! Cyndi! yo)
  7. the scene in the ‘About’ page in the blog? that describes the moment that I ‘discovered’ the Wakefield Doctrine it actually happened as written
The other half (of the process) of receiving this Award is to ‘pass it on’. The Wakefield Doctrine would like to submit the following people and their blogs for this award:
  1. Janine  the phrase ‘organized, efficient and yet creative’, comes to mind when asked to characterize  Janine’s blog, Confessions of a Mommyaholic  with some writers all you can do is just sit back and enjoy the magic.
  2. Ronin one of the first writers to visit the Doctrine, one look at his blog and you will know why we dubbed him, ‘the hardest working man in the blogosphere’ Ronin has not only written a blog that is interesting to read, he actually manages to do good work for many people in need, go there, read it and you will see what I mean
  3. ClairePeek Claire is one of the first friends we made, when we came over from HubPages to ‘the Facebook’  With talent, a sense of humor and an insatiable curiosity, Claire manages to combine all and still be so easy-going and willing to help anyone who would ask
  4. Mel ah!  Mel (along with Ronin) was one of the first ‘fans’ of the Doctrine. I use the word ‘fan’ with the total confidence of one who has not received a single (legally enforceable) restraining order.  Mel has the gift of writing that makes you think, ‘that looks easy enough! I think I’ll try it!’  He is currently writing a blog called ‘Mostly Teachable’, but many will remember his previous blog, ‘spatula in the wilderness’ inspired insanity
  5. Nell Rose  we met Nell on Hub Pages where she has written oh, I don’t know, 8 or 9 thousand hubs on virtually every interesting subject! She has to be one of the most well-versed, eclectic and inquisitive writers that I have had the pleasure to meet,  and she has a Wakefield Doctrine hat!
  6. Rich Rumple met this guy in the bloppy bloggers group, I read his stuff for 2 reasons: a) I need a laugh or a smile 2) I want to ‘see how it’s done’, writing-wise …the dude gots chops
  7. Julie DeNeen  it’s all her fault… this Post?  this award?…. getting involved with a group of writers that make me think, ‘can I meet the standards, do I believe that I can keep up?’… having said that, I remain grateful (and puzzled) at being invited to join Julie’s little group. Challenging as it is at times, writing in a peer community with the level of skill as they all have, whatever improvement to the writing at the Doctrine of late can, to a certain extent, be laid at their doorstep…
    (...” I invited *who* to join the group?!? are you sure?  it says here that he writes a personality theory niche blog?…3 types….named what?  no way!  worldviews? what the hell are you talking about… get me the membership screening committee this instant!! …did you say they have Tee shirts?  in pink? …well, all right, as long as they have fashion accessories, they can stay…for now” )
Thank you Cyndi

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Wow, clark I am humbled to have been chosen by you alongside some truly awesome people and writers, too. That said seriously thanks and congrats to you, because you are so well deserving of this one. As for the things you listed about yourself, your grad school days sound similar to my college days, as well :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Janine

      no, the pleasure is all mine, I meant it about the idea of somehow you manage to combine creativity with organization, which in the Doctrine scheme of things suggests a clark with a strong secondary rogerian aspect… DownSpring Molly is a person like that…attractive combination of qualities.

  2. Downspring#1 says:

    Congrats Clark. Eyeballs are all directed at you today. LOL

  3. Cyndi says:

    This is freakin’ awesome. I particularly liked learning those 7 things about you…I didn’t know that was a “clark” thing – we can easily come up with stuff about ourselves? lolol
    You bear the award perfectly, my friend and I must take a look at some of the people to whom you passed on the award*

    ….*after I drink my cup of tea and have a proper breakfast. ;)

      @Cyndi

      Thank you for the horizonationing …hey you were in Colorado, have you even been to the Stanley Hotel (in the video)

  4. What? I shall join no group, nor accept any awards, from those who would actually stoop to extend membership or credentials to me. In fact, the last time I accepted laurels allegedly rested on… it was begrudgingly and they were beating me with them.

    Surely, these three stooges already know that.

    After all, they’ve known me long enough to have weathered my Contempt for Congress, and then Congress’s contempt tendered right back at me.

    And I suppose I should close out the year by apologizing to you guys to for getting you on the DHS and TSA “Boy are you gonna get a body cavity search!” list… Okay, everyone except Clark, who apparently enjoys cavity searches…

    It’s not my fault, they confiscated my computers and found your email addresses in my “cronies and conspirators” folder. So, until I bamboozle those who are supposedly paid to know better into granting me that lofty honorary degree… I shall… slowly slip back into the woods to finish my contemplation of an education that doesn’t involve frequent visits by the federal authorities, usually armed and armored. .

    G_d Bless the Queen… er… um…. never mind.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Ronin

      (having stated that you are one of the original visitors to the Doctrine and source of inspiration), I will say, “…and we’re still in business?!” lol

      Good to hear from you, keep up the good work, yo

  5. Amy says:

    Congrats on the award! You certainly deserve it. :) And it’s great to hear a little bit about you…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Amy

      Thank you for that… thanks for your visits and comments here at the Doctrine (the feedback helps a great deal)

  6. Emily says:

    Congrats on your award — very well-deserved! And great picks to pass it on too (though I only know a few of them). And yes I agree the blogging group can be challenging and intimidating, but how else would we receive these fabulous awards?:)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Emily

      Thank you, though I joke, I agree about the benefit of associating with those of greater skills, it is the only way to improve!

      (We should be rejoining the Party at the Calypso Club soon, should be fun to see how our little friends are up to…)

  7. Congrats on the award! Well deserved, and so good to read up a little more about you! :) Especially about Una and your road rage coping skills….you must give me a few tips sometime. I’ve calmed down a lot, but it’s Geoff who is usually the one these days who needs a bit of woooosa with these silly taxi drivers and what not. Great post! ;)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Melanie

      Thank you… Una is pretty amazing as to the road rage (I will be dismayed that no one is surprised, but) my new road rage is more to be able to do things to the other driver (as opposed to ways to make yourself not as upset. lol
      It is better than honking or gesturing… it’s kind of a clark thing but it almost always makes the slow person in front drive faster
