Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers )

‘ello!!   woy if in’t owr  newst fren  Nell!!

All the  Progenitors, DownSprings and FOTD would like you to join us in welcoming our newest hat-wearing Friend, Nell Rose who, as I am sure you inferred from our clever patois, is from England….or London…maybe better to just  make that ‘the UK”

We first met Nell at a writing place called Hub Pages where we maintain a small presence. There we wrote a few articles about the Doctrine (of course) and a couple of stories about Ola and Bella and Una (fun!), but mostly we (are over there) to read and learn about how real blog writers work. Needless to say, it was not very long after arriving and posting some articles, that we ran into Nell.  In retrospect this should come as no surprise, as Nell has written Posts ( they call them ‘Hubs’ over there) on such an incredibly diverse  range of subjects that they had to discover a new letter in the alphabet* to categorize her writing.  Combining  an ‘ease of style’, that totally hooks you from the opening line, along with encyclopedic subject knowledge,  our first thought was, “damn! we have got to get this person to read about the Wakefield Doctrine”. Being the gracious life-form that she is, Nell  read a couple of our ‘Hubs’  about the ole theory of clarks, scotts and rogers and,  well…  we can surely say that Nell took to the Doctrine like…a….well, like a clark!  (Not surprisingly) she immediately ‘got it’, could extrapolate outwards, thought it was fun and (she) resisted the notion of taking a photo of herself with a hat (on her damn head) which, of course, made the choice of hat to send her pretty darn easy!

Nell is also on ‘the Facebook’ too, so next time you are in a totally rogerian mood, in need of  the comforting lowing of the herd….or your scottian aspect is feeling a bit….peckish, go on over and say ‘Hidy’.

Welcome, Nell

(So whats the deal with the preponderance of clarks? Should we be concerned? Where the hell are the scotts and rogers? …alright a few q..q.quick bullet points about the Doctrine then out….)

  • clarks have a ‘creative drive’ that parallels the predatory/hunt instinct of the scotts and the organising/traditionalizing needs of the rogers
  • clarks believe that they do not want to be the center of attention but will not…(on a level with the need to breathe)… not tolerate being ignored
  • clarks suspect that they are secretly scotts and wish they could be rogers
  • for most clarks, life is a race between living in fear and creating something that puts them beyond the reach (of fear)
  • stick that in your metaphorical, briarwood-smoking, fireplace-sitting, book-writing pipe….roger

Okay some (borrowed) music and have a chipper day wot?

*thanks to George Carlin for that (the original joke) was to the effect that, “scientist have reported discovering a new number, somewhere between 6 and 7 and are calling it ‘biel’

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Hey Nell! Welcome aboard!

Yeah, that’s me, not even a week on this voyage and I’m already asserting myself. But like I said, that’s me.

Hey! Here’s something for you Clarkian perspective- there is a common misconception that the American accent evolved after the Revolution, but that is false. It is a fact that the British accent evolved after the 1780’s. I could give you facts and links on this morsel, but you should take my word as gospel. Besides, this should motivate you to while away time researching and gleaning knowledge in only a way that a true Clark would do.

    Glad to have you aboard!

lol ( damn, thanks for the ‘cover’ on the ‘patois’, Alex)…after I hit Publish and read the Post I thought my greeting was sounding more like that Gieco commercial, which I am fairly certain is not a British accent.

…coincidently enough, on last night’s Saturday Night Drive we were discussing how scotts are the ones with the gift of mimicry….clarks, not so much, (the Doctrine explains why this is so, but I think I will save that for the next ‘what the hell do I write about now’ moment!)

  3. You’re quite welcome, Clark…
…and now I understand why people call me a big ape…

  4. AKH says:

Well well well…. finally. Another scott. It’s about time. Welcome Alex!. Glad to hear from you. Surprisingly enough we seem to have been attracting (or at least getting participation from) clarks. A bit of roger in the history department. But that’s ok. Just goes to show that we all have some of each type (clark, scott and roger) within us. Now being “enlightened” as to “who” you are I think that you’ll find that we scotts have the most fun. Keep the comments coming. Glenn and I are depending on you! Gotta increase the pack. lol
Hey you should definitely call next Saturday night to our Live Saturday Night Call-in. We have a blast. And since you left a comment here’s the info:
dial 1-218-339-0422, then when prompted enter the access code 512103.
Look forward to hearing from you!

  5. AKH says:

Alex, just went to your site and saw your EWN Live link. If there is any doubt in anyone’s mind as to whether Alex is a scott I think this should clarify it for you: “Weekly radio show at Blog Talk Radio. Come in and join the fun. We won’t bite… much.” Love it!!! http://www.blogtalkradio.com/extremewritingnow

  6. AKH says:

Yo Clark! You’ve gotta share the rabbit story: http://extremewritingnow.com/memoirs/your-kidding-memoir-prompt/

  7. Nell Rose says:

Hi, Guys! Thanks for the welcome! This Clark spends most of my time chewing my nails in panic of the most mundane thing until I get in front of a computer then anybody gets near it I turn into a rabied bigfoot! So, yep, thats me, a Clark through and through! Alex, hi, I always thought the American accent came from Irish, begorrah! it does sound like it, and did you know that Australian came from Cockney slang in the 19th Century? Every time you hear an oz talking its a throw back to good ol’ Londoners slang! So, here’s a bit of cockney for you clarks/scotts/rogers.

I went up the apples and pears, to answer my al capone, and would you adam and eve it, there was a man wearing a syrup of figs, sat on my spotty dog. I said to him, what Stirling moss are you doing in here? he said, I needed a stock market crash, so I said, can”t you use your own? he said, my spotty dogs broken, I said get out of here you strawberry split, so of he went with is syrup all twisted, and disappeared down my apple and pears, out the door and last I saw of him he was getting into his whisky and soda!

translated: I went up the stairs to answer my phone, and would you believe it there was a man wearing a wig, sat on my bog (toilet) I said to him, what the toss are you doing in here? he said, I needed a splash (pee) so I said can’t you use your own? he said, my bog is broken, I said get out of here you twit, so of he went with his wig all twisted, and disappeared down my stairs, out the door, and the last I saw of him he was getting into his Skoda!

Get the idea? Now, off you go!

By golly Nell, methinks you be wearin’ decent wimens daughters clothes….welcome indeed.

  9. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

    “…Thruppence and sixpence, eve’ryday”

  10. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thank you, Nell for the photo and the words ( …”spotty dog” lol oh man! acquiring a euphemism of that quality, in and of itself makes all the effort writing these Posts totally worthwhile!)

While the time zones differential presents a signifcant hurdle to doing a ‘call in interview’ for (a) Video Friday, am thinking maybe an ‘old-fashioned’ written interview might be fun….I’ll have my people talk to your people…lol

    Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine
