Decoding the Doctrine: the 3 personality types of the Wakefield Doctrine

Predator!!! Herd Animal!!!   Blue Monkey!!

(Simply convenient terms for a characteristic perception of reality or… hate speech?¹)

“rogerian indulgence… scottian impulsivity…clarklike irresponsibility”

(Examples of productive linguistic shorthand or…fighting words?)

“Don’t be such a clark!!   Jeez, they shouldn’t say mean things like that, he is such a roger…god, why won’t you just grow up? scott!”

( Honesty or……… slurs?)

As awareness and interest in the Wakefield Doctrine continues to grow, we are benefiting from increasing feedback from Readers. (This) input becomes a useful and significant element in the crafting of the message (in) these Posts. As we know, just as the Doctrine holds that we all have the capacity to experience the world as each of the three personality types, the descriptive terms assigned to each (type) is meant to be multi-interpretive. Often found when describing aspects of human nature, the tendency to exaggerate should never be underestimated. And when you factor in writing skills that are at times rudimentary, the urge to use terms that are easy to misconstrue is just…about…irresistible. But, hey! what are ya gonna do?
The core fact remains, there are three personality types (that) are predicated on each of us experiencing the world in three distinctly characteristic ways. And as we are trying to describe the perception of one (personality) type to another personality type, we are forced to draw the picture in broad strokes…very broad strokes.

It’s funny, each effort to present the Wakefield Doctrine to new Readers seems to bring along with it an example of the validity of our little personality theory. Today is no exception. The use of terms like predator and herd animal to describe scotts and rogers are often met with objections, “yeah but that has such negative connotations“, or “you must not think a lot of our type if you describe us like that…”.
The thing of it is, while people take issue with connotation or implication or insinuation, no one yet has said, “What? What does that term refer to?”
In most instances, when the discussion, say about clarks, gets to the point of, …”and so, the idea that you like to carry sentence fragments around with you…to spread through the few conversations that you have that allow the other person to get more than 3 complete sentences into..you clarks talk like that on purpose?” … everyone laughs.
Or if someone were to say, “…the print they use on the latex cycling suit is specially formulated to cause the wind rushing by to sound like the commercial jingle of that particular corporation, that ways during a ride, you can hear, ‘have it your way…have it your way at….” rogers (and clarks and scotts) all laugh. And understand, they know that we are talking about rogers without having to be told.

What we are trying to say is that so far, no one has stopped and said, “What? I don’t get it.” Of course this has as much to do with the quality of intellect that the Readers (and Progenitors and DownSprings) bring to the table at this stage of the growth of the Doctrine. We all might as well enjoy it.

No doubt there will come a time, when the Wakefield Doctrine is on a par with Catholicism or Islam or Oprah that we will hear people say, “Hey, did you hear the one about the socially-contexted guy who met a socially-disconnected dream-instead-of-live girl and they ran into the act-without-reflection priest?”

Until then, clarks are ‘head-decorating, mumbling, manipulative funny people and scotts are ‘the Tasmanian devil-from-the-Warner Brothers-cartoon but with higher levels of social skills as represented by the Joe Pecsi character in ‘Good Fellas’ and rogers…’damn they talk so good you want to sit and listen forever…until you wake up and realise they have all left but you still to have to wash the dishes.’

the laughing Personality Theorist

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine ( the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)! We are glad you could stop by for a moment and relax with the Progenitors and DownSprings.

Maybe it was the near-miss with the Rapture, perhaps the sense of, ‘hey-the-old-coot-was-wrong-but-you-know-life-is-unpredictable’! or perhaps we are just achieving greater market penetration and message persistence. Bottom line is that Readers are writing, Comments are being received and before you know it, you will find yourself sitting on a bus and out of the corner of your eye you will see a girl with a sporty hat on, one that has something written on it, something that looks like… “Wakefi…” then the cab she is getting into takes off down the street.

There still is much work to be done. There is still the little matter of (learning) to communicate with the scotts and the rogers in their native language. Fortunately we have Ms. AKH as our scottian ambassadoress-ette, but she is busy over at her blog, ‘the Three Personality Types of the Wakefield Doctrine and we have Progenitor roger doing his thing for the herds of the werld over at the ever-provocative, board ’em and care ’em so it falls to the clarks to try and craft a message that ‘gets right down and is easily understood’ (thx Malcolm).
The good news is we have Fabri writing in and showing new Readers that it’s not so bad contributing a Comment or two and (totally new) Commentator Mike wrote us a Comment over at the Doctrine Redux just yesterday! No pressure, but on the basis of his Comment, I got a feeling Mike will get into this thing of ours pretty quick and we”ll have even more help in getting the Wakefield Doctrine all public and such.

So to our new Comentators, we’d like to say, ‘hidy, y’all…glad ya could make it! Set a spell and see what’cha think of what we done with the place’ (Pretty convincing patois, non?)

It’s funny about the timing of our two new contributors, they both showed up at a time that we are wrestling with the ever-present question, “are you conveying to Readers the sense of purpose, the sense of fun that the Progenitors and DownSprings feel participating in this blog?’
The answer is mostly, ‘sort of, but not really as good a job as the Wakefield Doctrine deserves’. But we keep writing and trying new ways of getting out the message of the Doctrine. You can read about the Doctrine here or over at DS#1’s Girlie fer sure’ or at AKH’s or even at the Doctrine Redux (warning! the redux is kinda dry and such, no photos and no music vids!) but you will see Readers writing in Comments there!.

Why the heavy pitch for Comments? Cause the Wakefield Doctrine, while perfect in it’s description of the three personality types that account for all people in the world, is nothing without being shared. It is not really about you sitting in your room or your classroom or in your kitchen thinking, “my god, my spouse is such a clark” or “jeez, now that I know my best friend is a scott, it is easier to take the temper tantrums” or even “remember, he/she is a roger and they act that way sometimes, don’t let it spoil your fun”.
While these things will happen to you once you understand the basics of the Wakefield Doctrine ( the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers) the point of all this effort, the reason there are DownSprings is that we have fun with it. As soon as you get comfortable with this theory of personality, immediately tell your best friend about it; but don’t tell everyone (at work or school or at home) about it. Not everyone will get it.
Just let it be a thing that you and your friend get a kick out of…at least for now. And don’t forget us here at the Doctrine!! …we’ll always be happy to trade stories of spotting clarks, scotts and rogers and we will share insights into how the Doctrine is expressed in people…that we know…in real life. That is the point of this here blog here.

And the video Post format that we are trying out seems to be getting very positive feedback! F0r example, occasional FOTD MJM writes: “…listened to about 6 mins. – not bad, tho for someone who knows the Theory wasn’t exciting:) by the way, didn’t recognize the road, where were you…was surprised at how well you did – no hesitations, etc. just smooth talking and it is un-clarklike.”
Coming from a roger, this is high praise indeed! If you or anyone you know has a question or a topic you would like to hear expounded on or simply a shout out, let us know! These things (the vid Posts) seem to be clocking in at 8 to 10 minutes, plenty of time to address your questions.

So to all you new Readers…the fun here is being in on a thing that is cool and only a handful of people in the world know about it…for now! And the hats! Should be a new shipment coming in, so get your request for a (nearly free) Wakefield Doctrine hat (for your damn head) in right away!

Not to be Read until May 22! the Wakefield Doctrine guide to the End Times

“… and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

You made it!! Apparently there are some who believed that May 21, 2011 was the beginning of the End Times. That was the predicted day that all the Good People were going to get on the bus and move up to Heaven.

….so now that all the rogers on the planet have left the room, we can finally talk seriously.

Show of hands…who did not think that clarks and scotts were going to be left behind, rapturously speaking? Come on, you know that even though you were hoping that your rogerian aspect was going to blossom at the last minute, you know that you would have had a problem keeping a straight face when the announcement, “Would all the Saved, please proceed to the up-bound escalator, please!”

So what is it about the rogerian personality type that makes them the one that you ( clarks and scotts ) know will be voted ‘personality-type mostly likely to be Saved’? Is it (because):

rogers are the friendly ones
rogers are the glue to whatever social fabric you might care to consider, civic, religious, scientific
rogers require rules and traditions, they are in fact the only ‘reason’ that history of human civilization has any continuity whatsoever
rogers are behind the creation or and perpetuation of virtually all human institutions, religious, civic, political whatever
rogers do not create, they maintain, they assemble, they are the machine operators
rogers are the engineers, accountants and physicians
rogers are the judges, the firefighters and high school teachers (except for gym teachers)
rogers believe in a quantifiable universe to such a depth that it is not seperable
(when you are new to a neighborhood), rogers are the ones who come over to introduce themselves, and they will appear in a group ( herd)

It has been said that without the rogerian personality type, we would all be still living in caves and looking over our shoulders when we found something to eat or drink. ( ‘What was that?! Lord Amighty! theys scotts in dem woods’!!)
That rogers are responsible for organised religion goes without saying; that they do this, not for the benefit of clarks and scotts, but simply because it makes sense is what is often overlooked. Recent discussion in Ms. AKH’s blog and DS#1′ Girlie Deluxe and even the Progenitor roger‘s ‘Bag ‘n Tag focused on the rogerian female. The consensus appears to be that as rogerian males are the source of the traditions and conventions, mores and morals (that) form the fabric of a lasting society, it is left to the rogerian female to indoctrinate the young people into the rogerian view of the world. At the risk of repeating ourselves, this is a good thing, otherwise there would be no stability among people so that culture has the chance to develop, which in turn creates the foundation of a civilized society. In a sense we owe everything to the need of rogers to conserve the past. Without a past, technology would not have a foundation of discovery to build upon and this blog would have to be done using smoke signals.

The most interesting thing to come out of (this recent) discussion is the concept that rogers‘ live (life) by storyboard’ Just as scotts live in and of the present, rogers are located in the past, and because of this must spend much time making sure that the future comes out right. This is simply because rogers live in a quantifiable universe, and therefore it is about conservation and organisation. No less an authority than DownSpring phyllis tells us that : ” we (rogers) live in a box. It is a box that contains everything that is in our lives and it contains everything that will happen. This box might be small or it might be huge, so huge that we cannot see all of it at one time but knowing it is a box is what matters. And boxes are good things, they keep everything in reach”
Living by storyboard simply means that rogers are more concerned with the accurate reproduction and placement of the things (objects and emotions, actions and reactions) from the box into the moment they are about to live. If you have ever gone up to a roger and caught them by surprise, the likely response will be , “hey! come on, I’m busy! why are you interrupting me?” and now we know why, they are busy getting the moment just right.
There is a commercial you used to see for a camera (or some such device)and the tagline is ” lets you make memories’… that is the world of rogers.

(Hey you know the music we used to listen to in clubs and bars in the late 70s and 80’s? Call it rock music (for lack of better word) well the rock music of the 21st Century is Country Music)
