Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Welcome to ‘the Weakened at the Wakefield Doctrine’ blog. As a co-host (with a majority of the most sought after attributes found in blog hop co-hosts, as determined in extensive surveys of both blog hop hosts and Readers of same), of ‘the blog that Lizzi built’ I will submit my own attempt to identify ten things, qualities, events, people and any other aspects of my life, (however) if presented as a contrasting negative, it will make clear that there is something that I am, in fact, feeling grateful for in today’s Post.

(…no, I have no idea where this ‘word by the pound’ approach is coming from, nor do I have any idea where it will take us…and, contrary to popular opinion, I do tend to agree with our resident scottian women, Christine, Dyanne and Jean more often than most people think and, today in particular, I am in agreement with all three (well, maybe not so much Jean, as she has a higher degree of secondary clarklike aspect) as they think to themselves, “…clark, clark, clark, if you would simply write the list, it would be so much less work!”)

This week, if it helps for you to understand the context of this writing, I will let you all know that  I have  ‘Abbey Road’ (full album) playing as I write.  Not certain if there is a value in my sharing this, except to the extent that it’s a fundamental aspect and characteristic  of the worldview of clarks that, it is better to know more than to know less… and so to Item One (an all time record breaker for repeat appearances in this and other TToT Post)!!

1) the Wakefield Doctrine.  To state that I am grateful for the Wakefield Doctrine would not only be painfully redundant, it would simply be wasteful… as there are so many angles and aspects that have this Doctrine thing at it’s root, lets just allow that this item serve as an alert to new Readers about how the TToT plays here at everyone’s favorite personality theory (speaking of ‘plays’… right now it’s ‘Octopus’s Garden’  with Ringo’s voice coming from the speakers…cool)

2) speaking of Readers, it just occurred to me that one of the interesting things about bloghops in general, and the TToT, in particular, is the Writer’s relationship with the Reader and how that (perception of the audience) shows in the style of writing, especially in the context of the TToT, which is fairly straightforward, i.e.  ‘hey! tell us 10 things that you are grateful for…this week’    Of course, it is axiomatic that scotts perceive the Reader a certain way that is different from the way that a rogerian Writer will imagine those who would read their words. and, of course, us clarks?…. can you say ‘carefully, and at times, self-referential to the point that it seems like clarks believe that the Reader will not believe that they (the clarks) are the Writer.

3) the Weather… as an prompt for me to appreciate life and age and (relative) health…nothing like getting out there and facing a 200 foot driveway full of 20 pound-per-shovel wet snow to appreciate life!  Only one flaw to reflecting on work (shoveling) and capacity to exert myself (how cold can I get and how wet I can feel) is that my house is no more than 200 feet away. Sort of diminishes the fantasy of ‘hey, if I really had to, I could do this kind of work like my ancestors did‘… no, that is not a valid thought, as our ancestors, braving winter blizzards did not have a warm house, with electricity and every person they knew inside a plastic box…all they had, (I choose to believe), is the family they created with another person and not being dead.  There’s a difference.

4) Vidchats are good. Last night  we had Joy and zoe and Denise and Michelle and Kristi and Lizzi… kind of a slipper-socks and flannel robe kind of chat… not too raucous, but still worth staying up for, you should put your name on the sign up sheet next week

5) Valentine’s Day!!  a Special Day when I can share my sweet love with those in my life who feels the power and majesty of my affection, especially on this one Special Day of the year

6)  yeah, right

7) …oh, oh! I’m at 766 words, lets wrap this up. I’m especially grateful for my health, as, this particular morning, I can feel a ‘cold’ taking hold… (you know, that weird aluminum-foil-head feeling, where the roots of your hair start to hurt, not major kind of hurting, just odd … like the nerve endings are saying, ‘hey! betcha you didn’t know we could do this!’  In any event, I do, in fact, remind myself that relative to a whole bunch of people, I am in pretty good shape

8) work… fuck work  (no, let me take that back… I do not hold my work responsible for how I get stressed and feeling …not good.  I do remind myself, as the Doctrine tells us, it is my relationship to the work that I do that is responsible for how I feel, especially when I get stressed out.

9) Can’t do a TToT list without mentioning the Book of Secret Rules (aka Secret Book of Rules)… hell, there are, what, a thousand blog hops in the world today? right?  there bigger and there are smaller ‘hops and some are poplar with thousand, maybe even millions of Readers… but I am feeling confident saying that I bet very few of them have a Book of Secret Rules… co-hostinae?  you should take a bow…. no, go ahead…I’ll just sit back here…

10) Rule 1.3  (plus I think, for the older Readers I’ll put the ‘full album’ link to the Beatles  down below.  It should explain why this Post was written as it was.)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. Did you have a good Valentine’s Day? Let me guess: as a clark, you stayed home and chilled out. That’s EXACTLY what we did. I wouldn’t be caught DEAD out at a restaurant on Valentine’s day. Hehe. That and we made a scrumptious dinner…and had cookie dough oreos for dessert. I only mention those because I have to restrain myself from eating the whole bag…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah…good call on the Valentine’s Day. remind me to tell you about the card I bought for Phyllis sometime lol

  2. Hmm! How does the Rogerian writer view his readers?

  3. Lizzi R says:

FRIST? Or did I leave it too long?

  4. Lizzi R says:

*zips up low cut top* *takes bow*

Slipper-socks and comfyness INDEED it was and glorious with it :D

And I liked this but am still too young to appreciate WHY it was as it was. But the whole album was a nice touch.

  5. zoe says:

Good health is great an all but at what point do you get a horse as our pioneer ancestors did (in order to keep from shoveling and dying of an MI) or a snowblower or hiring a plow guy? Ever? Maybe the plan is to drop in the driveway some day? THat was def. heart attack snow this week… I could appreciate that and I didn’t even shovel this week… When did I become such a Kvetch? damn…

love Abbey Road… I think my favorite thing about your posts though have got to be the opening pics on this page and the home page… always intriguing even if ( as you say) often not connected.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      zoe

yeah, they (the images) are fun in that they do not have to create meaning, they simply have to resonate

  6. Ah, Abbey Road…love it. Not quite old enough for the Beatles’ first invasion, but nearly.
I like what you said about work and stress – it’s not work itself, but the relationship with the work causes the stress. I have found that to be very true and perhaps I’ve changed my relationship with the work that stresses me lately.
Celebrating my confirmation of my suspicion that I operate from the Clark worldview. Whee!
Have a great week – and watch out for that heart attack snow. It was definitely heart attack snow this week and I made the Hub take it in shifts.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lisa

yeah… I find that even I have to remind myself of some of the key ‘pointers’ in the Doctrine, for example, ‘it is about how a person relates themselves to the world around them’ and ‘the Doctrine is for me, not them’

  7. Jim is a total Beatle’s freak and doesn’t believe there is a group or a world influence that comes close to them.
    Do not get a cold!
How did you know about my clark side????? I try so hard to be so scottian over here! ( I pronounce that sco-shun). :)
Feel better. I think I am getting sick too. Either that or I have gone completely crazy, as I have been in tears all morning after reviewing a book written by a DOG. And yeah, it got 5 stars from me!
    xox jeh

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      jean

excellent on the pronunciation is spot on

as to to knowing about your clarklike secondary aspect? er… creator of Doctrine here… but I kid, the fact is, for anyone to come around (the Doctrine) and stay and have fun must either be predominately a clark or have a secondary clarklike aspect… such as yourself, predominant scott, secondary clark or Michelle predominant roger with a secondary clark…and like that

  8. Aluminum-foil-head?! Yes, that is it. I had that all through the Christmas holiday though I lacked this scientific term to describe it to anyone who might have medications to fix it. I am going to sound so learned next time that creeping crud comes my way!

  9. I have been listening to the Beatles non-stop this week after the 50th Anniversary special aired. I always loved their music, but totally now more then ever. So seeing you video here tonight was absolutely perfect to me and thank you for including. And like I wrote you back on my post, just done with winter and this weather now. Seriously mid February, I so over and done with! Longing for spring in the worst way now. But last but not least, hope you are enjoying the rest of the weekend now.

  10. Louise says:

Always liked Octopus’s Garden – I grew up on the Beatles because my dad loved them. And so I own a few albums too – not this one though (Sgt Pepper and the White Album). Every now and then at Sunday dinner I like to weave into conversation how perhaps the Rolling Stones really had a larger impact on Rock and Roll and then just let the sparks fly ;) Is that a Clark, Scott or Roger trait? Or perhaps just plain mean ;)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Louise

I recommend ‘Abbey Road’ and part of a ‘complete’ set of the Beatles at their peak…though one might argue the inclusion if Magical Mystery Tour…

as to the conversational gambit? lol… this is an excellent prompt for me to explain the ‘everyone does everything at one time or another’ Principle of the Wakefield Doctrine! While it applies to your scenario, in a post facto sense, the everyone Principle is useful when someone wonders, “hey that’s the kind of a job that a scott would do” or “…thats strictly a rogerian thing” our response is, ‘no! everyone one can be a …er kindergarten school teacher… but how a person who is a clark relates to the activity (of k school teacher) is distinctly different how a scott or a roger would relate to that very same job. as a result, they will perform the task (each quite competently) based on how ‘school teacher’ manifests in their particular worldview… we use the would manifests a lot… it just means, what does ‘being a kindergarten school teacher mean to a person living as: an Outsider or a Predator or a Herd Member

…now to your dinner! simple question: you throw the little conversation IAD onto the table…one question: a) what do you do next and 2)how do you feel about the reactions of the others… answer that one question and you will know the answer…(which, not surprisingly will reveal your predominant worldview. ya know?)

  11. This may be a very Scottian thing to say, but you spend more time getting out of writing your list than it would take if you just sat down and WROTE THE DAMN LIST.

It doesn’t happen to me when I get a cold, but on those rare occasions (knock wood and otherwise cast this away from me at once) that I get the stomach flu, I find that even my hair hurts. I hope yours doesn’t turn into a full blown cold.

    I didn’t need to read #6 to know that #5 was a crock….

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Dyanne

it is! (thank you)…no! the Doctrine thanks you lol we do have fun at the TToT, non?

  12. Reading you is like a nice trip on some fantastic drugs.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Starr

(lol) that, given the era that I grew up in, is a very nice thing to day… It trust you will be with us next weekend! (and don’t forget…Friday vidchat!… I know that you work many hours, but ‘all work and no play….’)

  13. findingninee says:

I’m thankful that my husband has done most of our shoveling and yeah, fuck work. Er, wait. I’m grateful to get paid for my knowledge I mean. Fuck one of the douchebags I work with though who has become a condescending jerk. Ok. I said it. Loved Vid Chat on Friday and thank you for hosting it! And I believe you could totally do the caveman thing and build a house if you had to. I’m glad that you don’t have to though. Hey it’s supposed to snow again tomorrow. Bleh.
