Friday the Wakefield Doctrine (‘hey the line ends 3 people ahead of you…so go home and fall into that book, life has passed your ass by’)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

(damn, that sounded better when I was driving)

The main point of today’s little vidlette, is to reminds us that, from the perspective of the Wakefield Doctrine, it is the character of one’s personal reality that accounts for ‘personality type’, rather than personality type being a collection of observed, self-reported-type test answers. Rather, it is your cumulative and collective efforts to cope, overcome and thrive in the worldview of a) the Outsiders, 2) the Predator and c) the Herd member (that) results in developing habits, behaviors, likes, dislikes, inclinations, strategies and a myriad of other ways to be successful in life; this is what we call personality types. At least here, in the semi-exclusive world of the Wakefield Doctrine, we do.

Funny, ain’t it, how popular personality tests are always present and close at hand? Whether it’s ‘the Facebook’, your best friends bedroom, the cocktail party after the 5th round of drinks, at the office on a Friday afternoon after the end of the official work day?  There seems to be a never ending stream of quizzes and tests that offer to tell you:

  • who you really are
  • what hidden qualities you have that no one appreciates
  • what celebrity you are almost, nearly, kinda, like…
  • how to get change and start doing (fill in this space with the thing you want the most/the thing that you believe will make your life better)
  • how to change and stop doing (fill in this space with the thing you hate the most about yourself/the thing that is keeping you from having the life you feel you should have)

find the right Personality Quiz…(so the secret hope goes) and it will show you how to:

  • get your boyfriend to stop cheating
  • cause your girlfriends boyfriend to start cheating
  • make  or teach or encourage your kids to start acting more like you
  • make or teach or threaten your kids  to stop acting like your spouse does sometimes
  • be happy
  • not be sad
  • stop getting so scary angry
  • stop feeling so uncaring and emotionless
  • stop the constant voice in your head, the one that will stop you from reading to the end of this Post, because it’s right, this is kinda stupid and not-so-funny, just work hard and everything will be all aright

Trouble is, even though it’s fun to be told, according to the personality test that everyone is talking about, you are like or have a great deal in common with: Marilyn Chambers, Joe Namath, LBJ (the politician), LBJ (the basketball player), Mother Theresa, June Cleaver, L Ron Hubbard, Jim Jones, George Jones or James Earl Jones…. the fact is you are not.  Now, most of you know that. For most of you, this personality thing is a fun diversion. For some of you, it is a way to join the herd, a way to get the wildebeests to stray from the herd, a way to better disguise yourself among the real people in your life.

Whatever.

Hey!!  Don’t forget tonight!!!  Speaking of  personalities and types and cool  (and not-so-cool) people…. tonight is Friday which means:

the Wakefield Doctrine  presents     the Awesome Bloggers Videochat and personal-palm Reading Session

Tonight will be like no other vid chat…no matter what others have told you… even if you think you’ve been to the craziest of video chat sessions… no matter what, this will be different.  and,  ….and!  because this thing is getting so damn popular and because there is a limit to how many people can be on at one time… (hey, just wait outside the door… one of us will check out the line and if you are cool or interesting or sexy or funny or funnysexy or are willing to do-most-anything, then we’ll boot one of the regulars and make room for you….  invites go out at 7 pm  EST  (sharp)

ok?

(well,  Lizzi and Michelle and zoe and Denise for starters… you want more and better people than that?  maybe you need to start by offering your place in line to that really sexy scott behind you…. Christine or Dyanne or Jean  (if the stars smile, we might get to see Kristi or Linda or Jen Kehl or that chick from down in  Texas or Arizona or some frickin desert-based state, good looking in a virtual sorta way, if you know what I mean…. fuck, how the hell am I supposed to keep track?!!? I wasn’t even at the vid chat last week… they told me they had a great time…is that like a hint or something?  no,  rich doesn’t have a camera… Don shows up which is good, at least when he’s not busting up Drug and Arms Cartels in Missouri or ohio or whatever flat-geography-with-nothing-but-90-degrees-turns-and-six-kinds-of-donut-shops-in-every-town State that he is at large in  and such and how about those other hangers-on-at-the-Facebook?  they all say they want to join in but… talk is cheap…ya know and besides I wasn’t joking there is a limit to how many of these ‘people’ are able to be on at any one time…)

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

I wouldn’t know how to get started to video chat and don’t have a camera on my computer. wonder if my xbox Kinect would work…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      mike

how about your phone? (many of us use the phone, if it has the bandwidth, to connect, through google+)… we (Lizzi and Michelle Liew and the others) open the Facebook at the same time to help people find their way into perdition-ville, especially Lizzi… she is very good at being a Guide…. it’s fun and different and silly and strange… in other words, everything the internet is supposed to be

  2. zoe says:

So with the vid….dontcha ever get to shake off the past?…I contend that I have been far more scottian than clark in the past ….and while we may exhibit all three that the balance has changed over time and circumstance…see atypical rogerian outburst from few posts back…I dont think it was always my secondary reaction….now im far more shockworn and probobly oversensitive….you get what im asking?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      yes,

there is a maturing/aging effect that can be seen in personality (as by the tenets of the Wakefield Doctrine) types. not surprisingly, the more extreme cases are easy to see, but in all cases it is interesting. there also appears to be a gender factor (in this aging effect), for example: male scotts trend towards the rogerian as they ‘lose their teeth and realize they are no longer naturally dominant) while scottian women seem to veer to the clark-side which, (unlike in the case of their male counter parts), increases their attractiveness … call me old-fashioned but…

lol this is a Post-worthy topic…lets discuss the outlines tonight (before the cool kids show up) and try to figure out the best way to present this insight (god! there is no keeping up with you young people (Doctrinistically-speaking).

  3. Yes, must ask, don’t our realities change with our environment? Or, do we adopt the characteristics of other personalities as the environment dictates?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Michelle

good question…and very reflective of the rogerian worldview! but the answer is no, if by environment you mean ‘surroundings’ including but not limited to geographic, cultural, social, employment and taking the dog for a walk…

the reason is: the ‘personal’ in our personal realities (aka worldviews) is where the Doctrine is seen, we live in the world as Outsiders and Predators and Herd Members… we experience any and all of the above surroundings in the context of our predominant worldviews… remember when you and I were talking about your father and you going to a restaurant? that’s exactly how our personal realities do not change… you and he stood across the street looking at the restaurant exterior but you were experiencing a different ‘restaurant’ than he was, due to the difference in your respective worldviews…

put another way, our predominant worldview takes the ‘common reality’ that we all share and puts you in a personal version of that….appropriate to your dominant worldview

      • zoe says:

I think you are totally on target with that… I remember that example of michelle and her father…and I agree that culture, environment etc wont have an impact…vs what may happen to one that could remold one’s character in some way within the environment… eg trauma of a sort, or winning the lottery big time…

Not sure if I will break out in time tonight… sometimes Im disconnected early enough… others not so much… will see. I’m more apt to be earlier than later if so…

  4. I was sick all last month and I hid it pretty well didn’t I ? I feel so much better I wish I could be there — but then again it is still the craziest time of day here! Everyone who lives here at home (except me) is a night owl!!! Have fun!!! xox jean

    • PS: you are an insane driver. Highest form of flattery, of course

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Jean

yes, yes you did! …I would/we would enjoy that too, but the primary characteristic for ‘proper’ participation in a vidchat is non-pressure enjoyment… when the time is right, we will be here.

…also, speaking of non-night owls…we often do a Sunday Morning Video Brunch… 9 or 9:30 am ESt… not as crazy social able as Friday nights… more discussing the Doctrine and other semi-serious matters and such you are welcome anytime there as well.

I loved the video chat last night. I’m glad Lizzi invited me. Based on what I’ve read, I tend toward Roger. While I’m flexible in some areas, I do believe in rules and fairness. I also know a few Scotts who drive me crazy!! I clearly need to do more reading.
