Welcome to the TToT…  (‘the bloghop that Lizzi built‘).

Several weeks ago it was announced that the Ten Things of Thankful bloghop would be on hiatus for the Christmas to New Year’s holiday period. Those of us who have come to look forward to the weekends because of: a) the mingling (metaphorically, of course) and b) the give and take (with an amazing spirit of camaraderie) and c) the banter (especially as it is ‘tween the clarks and the scotts)  were, all like,  ‘hold on there!! no weekend assignment of Ten Things?  what the hell! And, as we all know, even though our leaderina deserved a little break at the end of the year, we ended up writing a TToT post of our (individually) own. So, that there should be an official, sanctioned and approved-of-by-6-out-7-of the GuardVirgins, ‘Last TToT bloghop of 2013’,  should come as a surprise to no one.
In fact, lest a Reader stumbling upon this blog for the first time, be confused… the TToT is not a normal, run of the mill, fun-if-you’re-in-with-the-right-people bloghop. Being a weekend bloghop, there is no one day rush to get a Post in so it will appear high on the list and (therefore) garner the most Comments. And there is no feeling that only certain writers get Commented on, (I know for a fact that Lizzi and a number of the co-hosts read every single Post that shows up over the course of a weekend). And this is how a bloghop should be, it is what Ms. R set out to create way back in the spring…a community of people. Hell,  if anything, this  TToT is like that one dorm room on a Thursday night,  or that  one car, in back row of the High School parking lot, where you see people veer towards, on the way to school (or more) after classes end on a Friday).1

At least, for me this blog has become the malt shoppe/the community center/the dorm room/the car/ the preferred hangout/open house with near-unlimited potential for… fun.

Pretty much what our founderette say she wanted to build, back when it all started. (hey!!  whatever month that was? if you go ahead and put the Wakefield Doctrine down for: when the bloghop started.)2,3,

The Summer months,  well!  they were the warm/not-cold, sunny/even when it rained, best of all, stayed light until night.10

…in any event. even though I happened to be in the right place at the right time when the TToT started  (“…so it’s agreed!! we’ll have 9 talented and popular writers be the co-hosts so that our Readers will be treated to sensitive, insightful and sharing Posts!  what?  who?  I don’t know…I thought he was with you?  Christine?  …no, I have no idea?  I’m not so sure… pretty strange…. yeah what the hell!!  lets have 10 hosts…. hey!! you  YChrome!, yeah, we’re talking to you…” ) I am grateful for the opportunity to be associated with this here group here. And there is no where near as high a level of cruelty as you might have heard from some…of the more….shady characters known to frequent this place.

(and besides!  …name one other bloghop that has: a Book of Secret Rules; 7 GuardVirgins and encourages the participants to interrupt and otherwise jump into the Comment threads of total strangers.)

      hey… we’ll be around tomorrow (sunday) 9:30am… usually a smaller crowd…good way to get a feel for the room,* so to speak

      I’ll recommend it as we know that scottian instinct does not make the idea of walking into a novel, unfamiliar situation with un-known people an overly-attractive prospect.

      (and no, I’m not saying that you would be scared*, but since we are all ‘sperimenting with this vid chat, a quick visit would go a long ways to making it enjoyable. ya know?)

      Doctrine Tip! we have a saying, ‘everyone does everything, at one time or another’ and that is meant to remind us that the Doctrine is not about discovering clarklike interests or talents or rogerian jobs and talents or scottian likes and dislikes, …we all have them. the Doctrine says that it is different for each of the three (to be technical, the preferred term is ‘manifested’) so the fear thing is something all three personality types experience, with scotts it manifests as a thrill, a spice, still scary but a scott, given no alternative will run at the fear causing situation… that sort of thing.

      oh yeah… I did mention you need google+, right? if you have it, send me something so I can add you to the Wakefield Doctrine circle

    I do a dance every winter solstice. I’m just so happy to know that the days will be getting longer each and every day.
    Dude, yes, you could come up with a much longer, more “normal” list if you just got to it and didn’t do so much intro and asterisk runaround. However, that wouldn’t be you, and this TToT hop wouldn’t be the same without “you”.

      (if the truth be known)…all the intro and asterisk stuff is what I do on most Posts, at least to start. We were talk on the chat the other night about the ‘how do you write Posts’ and I must admit that, with few exceptions every Post is a ‘one take’ affair. My goal is (usually) is to write something that is making some kind of semi-outrageous point and then see if I can ‘write my way out of it’.

      hey, all of us ‘notice’ the days getting shorter at the end of August into the fall…and it is only minutes difference each day… the reverse (and the benefit) of this for Winter is the same, just requires a person to imagine a certain way of look at things… hmmm that reminds me of something, what could it possibly be?

  8. I think your presence as a co-host with these lovely ladies adds a wonderful flavor to the soup, Clark! TToT has indeed become the most fun place to hang out, and I truly love that the co-hosts get around to read and comment on all the posts, then I don’t feel so bad if I only manage to do part of them and no-one’s posts go ignored, even if we come late to the party that week. Often my end of month/year reviews are along the line of “Thank God that one’s over”, but going back to review for this special year end edition also brought to mind how many really good moments there were. I know that we are looking forward to the coming months as much as you, thank you for being a great part of this project!

      I know what you mean about the pressure is not entirely on any one of us, paradoxically because we are intent upon getting to all the Posts… and the overlap of efforts comes to our rescue. Will be an interesting year ahead.

      sorry the connection did not work for you on the Vid chat this morning! we could see your gravatar but it indicated a ‘mute mike’ (I know Lizzi was working furiously to help make the connection) hope you’ll try again would enjoy ‘meeting you’ in the semi-real world of vid chats

      • No worries on the connection…I know the mute was due to the number of people already on the chat,,,by default mine was muted (at least that’s what Google was telling me. Not sure on the picture. But I will try again…maybe on my laptop this time…and maybe I can get either one or the other parts of the thing to work. :) Yes, I would love to meet everyone in the semi-real world. :) I did love the experience of hearing everyone’s voices!

          glad you mentioned that “the mute was due to the number of people already on the chat,” we’ve encountered that before and it is, a bluff. (lol) people will get that message and then (if you find the way around to un-muting it works fine) We have had 7 people active at one time on a hangout… (the other thing that seems to be happening is that (no matter how many people are on the chat) your mic will be muted by default and then if you click on the microphone icon it ends up working find.

          (fun and adventure in the 21st Century, eh? …plus this is kinda cool to figure out how to hang out in realtime with people on the other side of the planet!)

          • Frankly I am shocked that Google would lie to me after all we’ve been through together…it’s getting to where no one can be trusted.

            Yes, I hope we can get this figured out. I am not the most tech-savvy person either so more than likely it was an issue on my end. I’ll keep working on it. Thanks for the info!

      And (out of respect for your requests back when we first met*) in the coming year I will totally commit to taking my scottian aspect out for a walk more often (ok… off-leash but only at an approved, sanctioned and safe park… with fences and safe zones)
