TToT …only 23 more Shopping Days (before the Twelfth Night) the Wakefield Doctrine (did someone say another Contest?)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

4

Hey!  That’s it!  It’s the Christmas Season and no one can be anything but totally grateful for virtually everything at this time of year, right? So to get to it, today I will say that I am so grateful for:

  1. For my co-hostinae and all of the Readers and Writers (of Posts) that, each weekend, come here and write stuff and share stuff (they can be excused for this, as they are mostly…girls around here), in exchange for my behaving (for the most part)  I am given free reign for my indulgences and  dalliances and assorted sillinesses that I offer as my contribution here (each week),
  2. nothing for number two ( at this point our 2 identified scottian hostys just sat up a little straighter in their seats…alert now, confident that they know the ways of this one…)
  3. to the Wakefield Doctrine… I would go into a long explication of how it’s remarkable that something like the Doctrine can have such a significant effect as to cause me to feel grateful, especially seeing how I would appear to be the author (though, not quite)
  4. fun with words such as the ‘explication’ usage in #4 (and to reiterate Item 1, I clearly enjoy the affectionate tolerance of my fellow… fellette lll co-host(s)…nah, that’s not quite the right word… I know, lets make up a word!!  (yeah!! about frickin time I found something to write about this week that isn’t so warm and fuzzy and touchy-feely and all (not that there’ s any wrong with being touchy feely and sensitive and caring and kind… )
  5. ok  I’m invoking Rule 7.3 (subchapter 5) of the Secret Book of Rules…  (and claiming the position of Lord of Misrule for this year’s Christmas Season. here is my reference)
  6. (..Rule 7.3 continued) ‘If a host or a writer is willing to provide the Award and succeeds in gaining the approval of one, ‘Considerer’, (such approval and inferred authorization may be produced on a contra-chronological basis), such Contest, may be conducted. All Rules and Awards are  still subject to the final approval, authorization and ‘yeah, what harm can he cause with his little contest?’ of all concerned.1
  7. (1) in conjunction with subchapter 5 of the aforementioned  Rule
  8. OK enough padding of the list: Here is the Contest:  Award for the ‘Best Collective Noun’ for a group of blog writers who participate in a blog hop that is all about sharing gratitude and other girlie and non-girlie sentiment and higher level emotional qualities,
  9. Rules: Word on the street is that we are on hiatus for a couple of fortnights. The ‘Best Collective Noun Contest’ begins this weekend and ends the week after the break. All entries will be Posted on Sunday of the first week we are back and the Winner will be announced the week thereafter. The Prize will be an Official Wakefield Doctrine docTee* awarded to the person who comes up with the Best TToT Collective Noun as measured by the most Votes. (Voting is open to all hosts, Contributors, Readers, Passerbys and Rich Rumple**)

It might help to see the thing in context.  “Lisa!!  hey doll, I heard those people at the blog hop is having a Contest to name themselves are you going to enter?  Yeah me too, what a ___ they are”

(… Did I mention multiple entries are permitted?)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Love that you had Beck at the end of this and not sure what I will now do for the next two Saturdays, but sure my girls will keep me busy enough! Have a great weekend now Clark and try not to work too hard today!! :)

    • Oh and I think I was first!!! :) :)

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Yes.. and that makes you the Winner of the ‘What The Hell Kind of Contest Is this?? (now-you’re-just-making-stuff-up) Contest!!’

the secret prize is a Wakefield Doctrine docTee!! (I don’t know if you already have one but send me your mailing address (probably should use the chat over at ‘the Facebook’ to get that to me…lol)

how did we get this far without getting you a Wakefield Doctrine docTee (I have one ‘roger’ docTee left… I think that works out perfect)

  2. Oh how you make my brain work harder with each post!
    Keep that sh*t up :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      smiles

      why thank you!

don’t forget to enter the ‘What the Hell Kind of Contest is This?? (now-you’re-just-making-stuff-up) Contest!!

I know you’ve heard it before, but I can’t resist!

  3. zoe says:

HEY wait a minute! If you’re the Lord of misrule then that makes us the fools!

Regarding #4:you are the author …feel the Force Luke…be one with the doctrine

Ooooooo a contest !!!! (girly squeal ) wouldn’t want to disappoint you… lol

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

You know that ‘Philip Stubbes in his Anatomie of Abuses (1585)’ he be sain’

“the wilde heades of the parishe conventynge together, chuse them a grand Capitaine (of mischeefe) whom they ennobel with the title Lorde of Misrule”.

oh on the Contest, you totally have some responsibility for, what with your ‘murder of crows’ remark… lol

I’ll start to Post any and all entries tomorrow… I got nothing so far… other than ‘an emotion of bloggers’ (“…that’s frickin great clark guess we know who won’t be winning the docTee”)

  4. Kristi says:

Thank you! Next week my kids will be home for the holidays, and instead of the ever-present musings of, “What’s the best superpower you can think of?”, we can now all be answering the question of “What do you call a bunch of blog writers. . . ?”

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

      You are totally welcome!

scene @ Kristi household ( “er…Dad? do you think Mom’s maybe spending a little too much time online? She wants us to help her win an undershirt with someone’s name on it or something and we have to make up a word for all her imaginary friends… maybe you guys should go a on Caribbean Cruise or something?”)

      lol

    • Kristi says:

OK, the kids aren’t home yet, but I told my husband about this contest. His immediate response? A “chatter” of bloggers!

  5. lrconsiderer says:

HA! I love your contest. And can’t believe you’re still whiney about not winning. Like, DUDE! Get over it!

My dear, courtesy of the most excellent Sandy, I have a compelling challenge (back ATCHA!) for your clarkside – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUQsqBqxoR4

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand IN WITH THE IDEAS. Because I love your made-up word – total hats off to you for that.

    I reckon it could be

    An OUTWRITING of bloggers

I shall be back with more, later.

    • lrconsiderer says:

Actually, thinking about that video, and what we all do…how about a BRAVENESS of bloggers? I like that.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lizzi

watched the video… liked the video, loved the idea (in the video) very cool

  6. Looking forward to the collective adjectives…no wait…that was noun. That’s right. Noun.

I cannot believe that Janine does not have a doc tee! She, of the rogerian contingent, who does such an excellent job of commentation Everywhere. Now she’ll have a little bit of the Doctrine to put underneath the tree:)

  7. Oh man…I love a good contest…so off the cuff here is my entry (without context…you’re smart and I know you know how to use it!): rhapsodic

Second entry: chuffed (that’s for Lizzi and others across the pond)

    • lrconsiderer says:

Chuffed is already a term – it means ‘pleased as punch’ ;)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Mrs. R

really liked the rhapsodic… (as words go) is not only looks good on paper, it’s got a great sound. I think I messed up on out it in the list of entries using rhapsody instead of rhapsodic need to change that back

  8. As always, your list is very unique. I really love that we met because your blog is so different (in a good way!) from every other blog that I know. I just love to broaden my horizon.

    Have a wonderful holiday season!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Joy

thank you… I also enjoy your blog for how you manage to have read so directly, but still with a graciousness…v cool

  9. Ahhh, the contest for linguists :-) Let me contemplate this for a bit.. Are multiple entries accepted?? I’d like to enter “Groggers”, including “GRatitude”, blOGGER”, a seasonal beverage of choice for late-night bloggers (GROG, anyone??) and also a nod towards my rogerian aspect by wondering why I enter to begin with as I’m not nearly creative enough to actually be considered :-)

  10. Oh I do like a collective noun contest! I’m going to go with ‘a Harem of Happy-makers’, although harem is used here with poetic licence …. men aren’t strictly forbidden ;)

  11. Sandy Ramsey says:

Always making a girl think….but I cannot and will not pass up a good contest! With that said, I am entering a “mosaic of bloggers”. That is what pops into my head in the moment. I have a feeling I may be making multiple entries!

  12. zoe says:

Damn man, collective was sarcasm….damn the lack of email inflection!!! Now I must defend my creatve linguistic jou jou!

  13. RCoyne RCoyne says:

    A postendium of bloggers?

  14. zoe says:

    Possegrat of bloggers
    Graterie ” ”
    Congregrat ” ”

A minor redemption…no…I am not too competitive why do you ask?

  15. And here it comes from me….a “chorus” of bloggers!

  16. Fine! Since the roger opened the “p” door, this has been sitting on my brain since yesterday and by golly, this is my final answer: “Purveyors of Perspicacity”.

  17. Kari says:

    I like #2.

p.s. I didn’t know we could do that. Noted for future TToT posts.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kari

lol… you can… but there are 7 GuardVirgins who you might have to contend with if Lizzi demands to know which of the Rules (in the Secret Book of Rules) that you are invoking…

      • Kari says:

How does one get one’s hands on said “Secret Book of Rules”? -asking for a friend.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          Kari

a very good question! (…wait for it) unfortunately according to Secret Rule#… lol

technically though, I think the Secret Book of Rules is either a work in progress or is printed in occasionally-invisible ink.
My favorite and first is Secret Rule 1.3 which allows us the being grateful for being finished to be a legitimate item on the list.

subsequent rules I believe come down to what you have the nerve to try (and) whether you can ‘sell’ the Powers that be on the legitimacy of a given Rule.

have I avoided a straight answer to your question?

  18. findingninee says:

With a note from me??? ME??? I vote for calling us one of the following:
The nitwits of nonsense and knowledge
    Best Blogger Bullshitters
    Bloggimatrixes
    Famous Fuckwits
    Masters of Mastering
    Bodacious Bloggers
    Bloggers for Buehller (sp?)

Anything sticking in your teeth yet?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

lets see that’s one: “Aiyee the scott she is upset, please put that Collective Noun Voting Poll up live on a Post and extend the deadline to 4:44 pm EST 12/17/2013!!”

so the vote will take place with the closing of the polls tomorrow 4:44 pm EST

(I’ll just go ahead and add those… er Collective Nouns to the “Final, this time for sure, Poll for the Favorite Collective Noun for multiple blog writers’)
