I’d rather fight zombies in a parking lot than in a shopping mall*, the Wakefield Doctrine ’10 Things of Thankful’ (Bloghop and Weekend hangout…the 3rd)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

DSCN0100

Weekends1. A job that involves working every/any day of the week2. A moment in bed in the morning before the day begins3. A secondary scottian aspect4. A new toaster5. The clean slate environment of the blogosphere6. An appreciation of the unusual7. A dog to greet me8. Having our new Wakefield Doctrine docTees finally be ready to ship9. Sending Wakefield Doctrine tee shirts to people around the globe10.

Alright, so what is it? Thankful or Grateful?  (our friends at ‘the Wikipedia’ define ‘thankful as :  “…a positive emotion or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive.”  while  a search for (a definition of the word) gratitude yields the following:

Gratitude is not the same as indebtedness. While both emotions occur following help, indebtedness occurs when a person perceives that they are under an obligation to make some repayment of compensation for the aid. The emotions lead to different actions; indebtedness can motivate the recipient of the aid to avoid the person who has helped them, whereas gratitude can motivate the recipient to seek out their benefactor and to improve their relationship with them.

* and what does the Wakefield Doctrine have to say about zombies and/or the Zombie Apocalypse? Two things: a) scotts would appear, at first blush**, to be the best equipped to survive a zombie attack, and they would, as long as they did not run out of ammo or break a heel and fall down, b) clarks actually will, be able to survive the up-coming humanity game-changer… for a number of reasons, not the least of which is, we can decide to not resist the overwhelming horde attack and pretend to be one of them, ‘passing as being zombish’ if you will, until we can make our escape and 3) yeah, rogers… stand on the roof top with the brain-eating mob on the street and yell, “hey! look isn’t that Ken Burns down the street there!!” and you’ll be able to waltz out the front door, safe as can be… until the crowd realizes that Ken never actually got bitten by a zombie

1) a certain suspension of expectations/demands as to how much energy we put into our activities

2) being in business for myself allows me to take whatever time off I would like, being in business for myself, of course means I hardly ever do…lol

3) just before the body gets up to ‘stand up now’ mode… when the brain is ‘still in it’s pajamas’  (the Title of today’s Post came in one those precious moments of sanctioned insanity)

4) cause otherwise, I would totally never hit publish on this… interesting take on a Gratitude List

5) if I have to explain, you would not get it

6) this is a place of the ultimate “if I could, I would…”

7) lol

8) dogs, are, as I constantly remind people, perfect lifeforms

9) they are getting even better…

10) Kristi and Considerer! watch those damn mailboxes!  (hey ChristineTracy yo!  as it works out… I only got 2 ‘scotts‘ tees printed this run… you’re both welcome to wear one of these nearly-free Official Doctrine apparel  lemme know)

** yeah, like a scott is gonna ever blush

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. How you interwove zombies into this one, I will never know, but seriously love it!! And I am so with you on owning my own business and being able to take a few moments for just me. Funny how that never seems to work out that way. Thanks again for co-hosting and Happy Saturday now!! :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Janine

      me too! (how the topic of surviving the zombie apocalypse and a Gratitude List are connected..lol) actually I do know, I happen to be read by people with the kind of mind that enjoys a leap of faith(??!) like that…

  2. Cyndi says:

    I love your things that you’re grateful for. I didn’t know you were in business for yourself. That’s pretty cool.
    Dogs…I love my “Vinny” more everyday. :) That zombie scene up there sounds like something from that movie I was watching when I called in a couple Saturdays ago: The Book of Eli. They weren’t zombies, but…there was the loner dude, the hordes of people who banded together, the scotts who wanted to control everything…yeah. :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Cyndi

      yeah, the time thing is the key. you know, Denzel is a roger… so no, not all rogers are not all bad lol

  3. Considerer says:

    See now I do like fancy dress – I could *totally* rock the zombie look. In fact, there’s an annual zombie nightcrawl in London which I could practice in…

    I’m not yet sold on pets generally, but I’m glad you have known some of the very best dogs :)

    Your list is remarkable

    And here I can reply

    The internet is marvellous

    (and not too full of zombies)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      should I explain my little joke about rogers? (note: there are no good worldviews/personality types. all three have strengths and all three have weaknesses (and one is kind of a pain in the ass*)
      Without rogers we wouldn’t have jet airliners and powerful men wearing the silliest of headgear
      Without scotts we wouldn’t have loud fun and wars of conquest
      Without clarks we wouldn’t have progress and mumbling and eye-contactless-conversations

      * just kidding…

  4. christine says:

    I have never blushed once in my whole life. (Well, maybe once. My first kiss was a bit public.)

    I am so glad you decided to co-host this hop. You certainly bring some variety. :) If only you remembered to ACTUALLY LINK YOUR POST!! (Is that very scott of me, to yell at you like that?) I’d love a shirt. Just let me know the details.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Christine

      oh yeah! that link thing, and I was so proud to have completed the Post before mid morning….will get that done. (Thank god Considerer had the foresight to do a 2 day hop, to allow…adjustment!)

      I will be in touch through a less… public venue, to get your address to mail this thing. (..not that you need to provide addition scottian tendencies? lol)

  5. Considerer says:

    It’s a funny joke if the rogers get nommed by zombies at the end :p

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      suspect they usually do, (though they will keep one scott and a clark and maybe a roger for the sequel)

  6. Now I would love to see a fight between a Clark and Roger Zombie!!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Michele

      well, we know it wouldn’t be fair, ’cause the rogerian zombie will have a lot of help from the horde lol

  7. Um, hello??? You said I totally won a t-shirt! I have the email to prove it (said with hand on hip, foot stomping).

    And #2 – can totally relate. The most time I took off was for a doctor’s appointment. But at least no one docked me a day’s vacation for it.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Melissa

      lol I take it you are requesting a scottian Wakefield Doctrine nearly-free Official docTee? (It is customary here at the Doctrine to leave it to the individual to decide their own predominant worldviews, some of us are easier* than others to guess**) I will try an IM to your FB page… failing that I will come back here and email to the secret email listed right you there, next to yer pitcha)

      * no, I didn’t mean easy…easy I mean a clear and logical approach that will most likely result in successfully gaining access… I didn’t mean easy!! lol
      ** as we all know, or we should now if we are wearing the Official Fashion of the Wakefield Doctrine, you can’t get this wrong! i.e. there is usually one (of the three) that is clearly not likely… then it’s a matter of ‘trying out’ the other two worldviews. Look around, believe that the world is one of Rules and Continuity …do you feel connected in a giant herd with all members in a way equal in the good and in the bad… as you interact with people, do you sense the rich history inherent in all of us or…. do you just want something/someone to make a break for it! Do you have a slow, constant but almost sensual need for the chase…the kill lol
      … you know, like that

  8. Clarks can survive a zombie apocalypse?! Woooohoo! Fun post today, hope you’re enjoying the weekend :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Melanie

      totally… hey for all the years of “come on!! show a little enthusiasm!! hey!! is that your excited expression, is it?” lol who has the last laugh now, roger?!

  9. I’m thankful that there are no zombies on my street or on my rooftop and I’m thankful for the term “while the brain is still in its pajamas” because there are days when mine is one lazyass and lounges in her pj’s until the evening meal. Also, I’m thankful that as a mostly Clark-like one, that I will indeed survive the zombie apocalypse *whew.*
    YAY for my very own DocTee coming soon to a mailbox near me! Whoop!
    It may become a new goal of mine to make Scott blush. I’m pretty sure I could think of something…hm…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Kristi

      if anyone can do that, deliberately (of the three) it is us, the clarks. that is because we are the ones with the (sometimes lonely) ability to see/imagine anything.

      the docTees are pleasing… and are great conversation starters ( lol yes, it is acceptable by Doctrine standards to simply turn around and trying your best to point at your back and say, “go ahead, ask them I’m just of the insiders who get to wear one of these fine, and worldview specific tee shirts” )

      (plus you get to do an amusing* variation on the classic “hey buddy! I’m around here, on the other side!”)

      * well, it struck me as kinda funny,

  10. I love that moment in the morning between waking up and getting up, when I re-hash my dreams and plan my day.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Dyanne

      …yeah, it’s interesting how fragile a state it is… sometimes I can get out of bed and still maintain it, other times it becomes a thought regarding the ‘real world’ in the day to come that will shake it. funny how that is

  11. Joy says:

    I would sometimes love to have a moment in bed before I have to get up but my son does not allow it. And he almost always gets up at 5:00. Ugh.

    And a dog to be greeted by? Heaven! We had a dog when I was a child and I really miss a pet.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Joy

      …of course, dogs are capable of “come on!! come on!! get up, things to do, balls to throw…squirrels to bark at!!! come on get up!!!” lol

  12. YES, it is indeed kindof funny! I can’t wait to get mine in the mail!
    Also, I replied over on my li’l ol’ blog re: your question on the Otter Case. I would purchase one. But remember, that’s coming from the dipshit that it took breaking FOUR (really) phones before wising up.

  13. PS and yes, dogs are the ultimate everything of everything of the perfect lifeform.

  14. I love wearing nearly free shirts.

    And as a side note, I will also not only survive the Zombie Apocalypse, I will do so with great panache.

    Best Regards,
    Clarkette Rogina

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Tracy

      …about that nearly-free docTee… lol

      (If I were smart I would send you the docTee of your choice… clark, scott or roger. however, I am not so I will say, Hey! if you want a docTee with scott on the arm I can send you a custom grey tee…. if you want the very popular azealea docTee, I can only send a clark docTee)

      let me know what you would like to do (I will need to get your mailing address, which I will go to ‘the Facebook’ and IM y’all

  15. Jak says:

    *Walks in*

    *Looks around*

    WTF…

    *Exits*

  16. Jak says:

    Okay, not really! But you have pretty awesome twists, of what I can only perceive as randomness, in most of your posts. Now, I’m sure for the initiated this isn’t the case and it all makes complete sense haha.

    So are you thankful or grateful? Hmm

    I love you mixed in some zombie action. Given I have no idea which personality type I am, what I AM certain about is my imminent demise. As long as there are a few people slower than me, and I can lose enough of my “nice guy” conscious to actually trip people for bait, I may live for a short time.

    Congrats with the shirts! Do (or will you) have the finished products up for display? I am curious how they look.

    How many dogs do you happen to have? I think I’ve seen the one in a few pictures you’ve placed up.

    I’m partial to #3 on your thankful list!

    It would be nice to work for myself someday… It has to be pretty great :) Even if not ever fully taking advantage of time off. It’s at least there as an option.

    Sorry I am so late on these man… but I hope that #1 applies to such situations.

    Onward!

    Jak

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jak

      the twists are (part) of the reason I enjoy this Post writing thing… 99% of the time I am as surprised as the Reader (with the added benefit that when I actually read a Post from start to finish, I have been known to say (to myself) ‘yow! this guy is crazy! I like this stuff!’)

      as to the type you are… that will come with time (at your pace) if you find that you are enjoying this thing. I am always happy (and tend to write Posts) about how to figure out which of the three worldviews most applies to yourself, no rush, the fact is, if you are still with us (as you are with these here Comments here) then you have the necessary intellectual… whatever (we used to call it mental flexibility, the ability and willingness to try out strange ideas…just for the fun of it!). I am always available to answer questions, here in the Comments or on Saturday Nights (Call-in) or….or! our First Video Brunch Call-in-ganza!! that’s this Sunday, we’ll be using the google+ for the link up. (right here is one of the many clues available to all of us trying to understand our worldviews! If when you read the word ‘video’, your first reactions was, ‘yeah, right’ then you might want to read up on the clarklike worldview (i.e. Outsider) lol)

      shirts of a variety of iterations can be found on the Fashion Page (at the top of the homepage) …the newest version is pretty cool, what with the individual names on the sleeves (clark or scott or roger). But, as happen all the time, whenever someone writes a Comment, we learn or realize something new about this Doctrine! In this case, your previous question about knowing which of the three is your predominant worldview. It never entered my mind, but by doing this, it kid of forces people to identify their worldview. (Good news is: you can’t get this thing wrong and you can’t break it… so when in doubt guess (which of the three). Actually I can probably predict how the little exercise will go for you… but I am so into privacy I won’t… unless you would like me to. (lol… yeah, we have fun ’round here)

      1… at a time. The dog you see most often is Ola. She was our first dog and a perfect life form… I usually use the photo of her that I call: ‘big smile, big teeth’ and recently you are seeing photos of Una our currently existing dog.

      yeah, there is that special place where the world has not put on the tie or brushed it’s metaphorical teeth

      np…. we always welcome questions and Comments and such
