The Second Post First! Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday the Wakefield Doctrine sings

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Friends of the Doctrine Jen ( My Skewed View ) with the help of Kristi ( Finding Ninee ) do this thing every Tuesday called Twisted MixTape Tuesday (currently # 8 with a bullet)

28sept.5ola

Each week a theme/motif/rationale… something common, perhaps not so common, that we, all of us, experience in our efforts to find our way through life. It seems that there are times in life when events gather music to itself, forming a bond between memory and emotion,  incredibly rich in detail, often the very sketchiest of memories and most of the time, these bonds are formed with not the slightest awareness that it is happening. Sometimes years pass and the event (a relationship forms or dissolves, friendship begin or end, people are born and loved ones die) is nearly forgotten, and then a song comes on the radio and the next thing you know you are back there…feeling and re-living.

Allman Brothers ‘It’s Not My Cross to Bear’

Humble Pie “Halellujah’

Ola leaves, neither of us would have let this happen, had we any choice…

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. Love the Allman Brothers and Hall and Oates, too. Seriously great picks and love seeing who picks what for this challenge on Tuesdays now!! :)

      @Janine

      (given your crazy schedule…. lol) will you be participating in this thing today? Thank you, as always

  2. Kate says:

    Love Hall & Oates! Good choices!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Kate

      yeah, this song totally linked to a major life-event…kinda wrecked the enjoyment of the song for a while lol

  3. Jen says:

    Well anything with the Allman Brothers jamming some serious blues has my vote. Pour your heart out! Almost used she’s gone, went with Sara Smile instead… perfect choice, even though Daryl looks like a girl. Sorry Daryl, you don’t look like a girl anymore. My husband is a huge Humble Pie fan, love it! We have really similar tastes, love your lists!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jen

      …yeah, finally can enjoy some of these songs. I actually have made a point to tell myself (in the middle of ‘huge’ events) to be careful what I listen to … in order to not ‘ruin’ any favorite songs. I’m not a clark, am I? lol

  4. I had completely forgotten that Hall N Oats even existed – so much of the music that meant the world to me when I was younger has completely gone off my radar. Love that you linked up again and you are so right that music does a powerful and amazing job of forming a bond between memory and emotion. Well said, Clark!
    Good call too on not letting Scott play – he’d have wanted Baby Got Back in here or something. :D

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Kristi

      shh (…best to let sleeping… lol) Now you do have me thinking what would (my) scottian aspect consider a good song in reaction/response to being broken up at… (more to follow)

  5. This would mark the first time in the History of Tracy that someone has put any song of Humble Pie’s songs on a list. You win the internet today. Also. Nice list. :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Tracy

      very cool… thank you for that (if you would like one of the (few) remaining Wakefield Doctrine docTees nearly totally free and sent to you… let me know, in whatever manner you are comfortable in doing..

  6. Cyndi says:

    Coolholio! Alas, I didn’t make it to participate but I hope you’ve have a fabulicious day! …while I enjoy making up more words to add to our overstuffed English language…

  7. LM says:

    ah man the allman brothers “not my cross to bear”-GREAT one! wish I had thought of it in my youth. Oh such a heavy heart when I hear “she’s gone”. I have a few songs and there may have been one on my list I still have a hard time listening to since it evokes memories I’d rather not have retrieved.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @LM

      exactly! amazing how long the association remains (both good and bad…mostly the bad, lol)

  8. Must admit, I don’t know any of these songs or bands, but I am completely in love with Ola sitting there on the couch. Totally in her element…queen of the couch for sure. :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Melanie

      Ola was amazing for her ‘self-assuredness’ and confidence!

  9. Lance says:

    I could see the beer bottles lined up next to the record player as I read/listened to these choices.

    Awesome work here.

  10. Jennifer says:

    will get back to you later today… lol

  11. I love the Allman Brothers! Love. Great choices. And Humble Pie – excellent!

  12. Jean says:

    I agree that a song can send you right back to that heartbreak or joy you felt over someone.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jean

      yeah…amazing power (through whatever it (a song) links to (an event))
