Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Thanks to Mimi for suggesting a topic:
It would still be interesting to start trying to figure out how early a predominant world view shows up in a child.
Shall we begin?
Consider this: Which is stronger: a novelty or a habit? More comfortable: brand-new shoes or worn (but not worn-out) shoes? Lyrics: song loved for 20 years started in dead-center of you first love affair or “Hey! catchy tune!”
There you have it.
The missing element making Mimi’s query so useful and valid. Understand this element and the rest becomes obvious.
Pick up your pencils…. now!
ok lol
That was kinda cruel*.
btw… not that we indulge in fictional new memories here, but in our Curator’s visual cortex, we’re seeing: a fifth grade class where the clark(s), hearing the above directive about pencils, are smiling and writing…. rogers and scotts? not so much.
not being a roger or a scott, we’ll give ‘the class/the non-clarklike Readers a hint:
the whole predominant worldview thing in the Doctrine is simply shorthand for the relationship the person (no matter how young or old) maintains with the world around them. (Note: for reasons still not understood, the given relationship is established at a very early age and is not a conscious choice on the part of the individual. So, forget about the, how I decided being a scott wasn’t fun enough so I switched to… Doesn’t work that way. If that doesn’t work for you, we’re sure there’s an empty seat over at the Oscar, Myers Briggs exhibit… they got it all down to a science… the Wakefield Doctrine maintains that effectively we find outself living the the world of the Outsider, the Predator or the Herd Member and our outward indicators, our personality traits in the eyes of the obersever are appropriet responses to the world as we experience it….
sure, roger… one more Hint: Four Year Old: play your favorite song!!…. 18 yo? 45?
* pop quiz: match the manifestation of punishing aggression to the predominant worldview: [cruel/heartless/mean] :: [clark/scott/roger]

(Fine example of (one of my) favorite songs regardless of decade)
To topic: I would submit that by age 4, a child’s predominant workd view is apparent. Upon first meeting the younger of my 2 great-nephews, age 4, I had no problem identifying him as a scottian child, lol. But to those folks new to the Doctrine, a scott may be misidentified if you have a strong roger on your hands.
Our little Annie is not yet one, and is up in your face, letting you know exactly what she wants, much more so than any of my children ever did. Early signs of an “I’m taking over the room” scott, or an “I know how the world should be run, my way” roger? I guess time will tell.
damn! there you go again!! (providing a post topic (I suppose the more traditional response/reply is along the lines of, “Thank you, Mimi for the post topic”)
;p
