Monday -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

The Everything Rule is terribly useful to those of us who strive everyday to practice the language (of this alternative perspective). As with any language, the more you practice, the more seamless the transition between your normal frame of reference (the ‘real’ world) and the description afforded us with the Wakefield Doctrine.

Glad you asked.

Went to the dentist this morning. Routine cleaning and such.

This, of course, got us on the theme of ‘most dentists are rogers‘.

Note: one of the lesser applauded benefits of the Everything Rule lies in how it cuts down on the ‘yeah, buts…’ of New(er) Readers. While we strive to not be hard on those new to our …language, we were all new once… (Who said that? ;p Sure, a valid retort is ‘I’m a clark, I was born old!’)

In any event all this got us to thinking of a way to provide a fun (and possibly) practical value to this, everyone’s favorite personality theory.

The heck with a serious and valid sounding set up!

If you have the choice:

  • get a rogerian dentist
  • be sure your primary grade children have at least one (though three is preferable) clarklike teachers
  • need a surgeon? look for an experienced scott
  • carpenter….  rough work/framing a scott will work
  • finish carpenter? a roger fer sure
  • defense attorney? scott
  • a counselor/therapist:  in a hurry? a scott, not urgent, more for self-improvement a clark
  • swimming instructor: (for a child) clark, (for a teen) roger (for an adult) scott

we could go on all day… but we’ll welcome all additional input and suggestions

And, the thing about one type being ‘better’ than the other two?

No. Incorrect. Dispose of that, (you’ll need far more intellectual flexibility in your view of reality) it’ll only hold you back. It’s about the hierarchy of drives and needs as they manifest in each of the three predominant worldviews. Start with how they relate themselves to the world around them, then consider the character of the world that they exist in and there ya go

(Consider the profession of Librarian. a clark likes order, in the way you might desire a particular option when buying a new car, but the preeminent quality of the Outsider is curiosity and in adjunct to this drive to discover, clarks like to share knowledge. quid pro quo the best choice for librarian is a clark (not a roger, who on the surface may seem to have a high degree of organization… but the sharing is not there) …who said a scott?  lol We, if the truth be told, would enjoy interacting with a scottian librarian)

Anyone else?

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. A clark may have been born old, but it doesn’t mean s/he was born knowing it all…yet.

The children’s librarian at one of the local branches when my children were young was a scott. She was tons of fun.

  2. Talk about useful crib notes. Always, I enjoy these types of posts.
As to the Everything Rule – can be poetry in motion ‘Course the goal is to manifest it at will. Still working on that.

If I may? My endodontist from years ago who performed my root canal was a roger of the highest order. He. Was. Fantastic. Aside from skill, he told (mostly corny) jokes while I was held hostage by a mouth damn, lol. Best part. The experience was pain free. Go Dr. G!

Agree about clarks being born old. What first grader proclaims to her mother she finds her fellow classmates immature. Yeah.

Excuse me … as a brief aside, I have a question. I noticed in this phrase “This, of course, got us on the theme of…” and I’m just wondering who’s “us” and how many of you are there?
